2026 Draft Class Signing Thread
what jumps out at me is the amount that these players signed over-slot: Casteel (11) for $1.1M over, Weingartner (6) for nearly $1M over, and Prosek (3) for $800k over. On the other hand, Roch signed for $1M under and Thome signed for $400k under. Aside from getting the extra pick, what factor did the extra money obtained from the Pirates trade play in allowing the Sox to draft and sign all the the players they wanted? Also, why did the 11th round pick sign for such a large bonus ($1.25M). If it's because he's highly ranked, why didn't one of the other 29 teams nab him in the first 10 rounds?

Not a great sign from Shane Smith. That box score is pug fugly.

Little Billy Carlson with 3 walks. He may have the power of a little leaguer, but the guy can get on base. Currently sporting a .400 OBP. If he can gain a little power to go with his on base skills and defense, look out.

No way Teel should be hitting 6th and ahead of Peters. Teel should be hitting no higher than 8th. IMO.

He gets anxious and impatient with RISP, and keeps swinging at balls out of the zone. IMO.

I'm so glad I no longer have to watch him pitch for the Sox.

Soriano would be a decent fallback option...need depth/innings more than anything.

It would help if they move Peters up from the 8 th spot. He has the highest hitting avg in the team. He should never be hitting behind hitters like Teel. Venable roster construction can be baffling.

Yes, he does. I think including Eisert actually lowered the return for the Sox. 🤣- 7/18, Sox @ Blue Jays, 7:07 AM Uninhabited Baker Island Time
And the Twins also lost to the Cubs. The Twins should not be over looked, they have a good team.- Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods
Okay, sorry, it flew over my head then. Thought you were being serious. Ron is always trolling, so I didn’t see it coming from you…- Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
Every game matters. This race won't be decided until the final week. Detroit won't be selling and are still in it. Four teams in the running.- 7/17 Games
I keep repeating myself, but our incumbent DH has a negative WAR. So there is room for anyone who can hit.- This Day In Sox History 17/19...
Four factoids today: July 19, 1946 - In a strange game at Boston, umpires “Red” Jones and Bill Summers ejected or sent to the clubhouse 12 White Sox players, a coach and the batting practice pitcher due to bench jockeying and criticizing calls. In the third inning a high and tight pitch to Ted Williams resulted in a warning from umpire Jones to Sox pitcher Joe Haynes. Someone in the dugout yelled out, “Hey, meathead, what kind of call is that?” resulting in ejections to Ralph Hodgin, Dario Lodigiani, Eddie Smith, Leo Wells and coach Ed “Bing” Miller. The next inning after more comments, Jones ordered the nine remaining bench players to the clubhouse but they were eligible to be recalled to the field if needed. Players in the bullpen weren’t sent to the clubhouse. The nine people who were sent off were Johnny Rigney, Mike Tresh, Hal Trosky, Guy Curtwright, Eddie Lopat, Frank Whitman, Earl Caldwell, Mizel “Whitey” Platt, Wally Moses and the batting practice pitcher (Liebhart) . Naturally Boston would go on to win the game 9-2. July 19, 1960 - In a game at Comiskey Park, Luis Aparicio got an inside the park home run in the fourth inning off Boston’s Frank Sullivan. The play drove in three runs. It was Aparicio’s third inside the park home run in four years (1956-1960). The Sox won the game 6-0. Aparicio’s first regular home run came on May 28, 1956 off the Athletics Tommy Lasorda! July 19, 1970 - Luis Aparicio Day was staged at Comiskey Park. The future Hall of Famer was praised for his many years of service in a pre-game ceremony. With the Sox in the middle of the worst season in franchise history to that time, only 18,587 showed up on a rainy day for the double header with Baltimore. Aparicio would go 4 for 9 on the day as the Sox split the twin bill. July 19, 2022 – White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson was the starter at that position for the American League at the All-Star Game in Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium. He became the first Sox player to start at that position in the game since Luis Aparicio did it in the 1970 contest in Cincinnati. Anderson was involved in some plays in the field and also recorded a single as the A.L. won 3-2 running their winning streak to nine in a row. His teammate, Liam Hendriks, who saved the 2021 game in Denver for the A.L. came on in the eighth inning recording an out and being credited with a hold.- Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
Fucking Indians win- White Sox - Injury Tracker
Maybe he figures it out in time but I don't think the Sox should be counting on him.- Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
7, but then you have another 4 who have 2 weeks of games to decide which direction they're headed, and another few could buy AND sell. The Padres always fall into rumors for that last one.- Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
