  2. I don't know. At any rate, someone was charging that much for tickets at a place that has had a history of not selling out in the playoffs.
  3. Beckham was out of the org by the time Getz got here. Fulmer was pitching in the bigs before Getz's time. Colas was acquired after Getz's time as director of development. So, no. I don't believe he had anything to do with rushing those guys. It's kind of known that the White Sox would draft college players who were mostly "developed" in college and could shoot through the system. No, I don't think the director of development was making the decision to promote players prematurely, and then to allow them to languish in the bigs without proper support. The main evidence we have that Getz wanted to do things differently is that once he became GM, he started making wholesale changes to development that resulted in tangible success. I can't see how the way Bill Veeck handled a prospect's timeline in the 1970s has any bearing on how the organization is run today.
  4. I thought MLB controlled playoff pricing?
  5. Playoff attendance issues have resurfaced at Tropicana Field. The Yankees probably boosted the attendance in the ALDS, but part of the problem in the ALCS games is that the Rays were charging $185 per ticket for seats in the 3rd deck. FOX 13 Tampa BayWhy empty playoff seats at Tropicana Field are sparking b...Low playoff attendance and falling ticket prices at Tropicana Field during the Tampa Bay Rays' American League Championship Series matchup against the Cleveland Guardians are sparking widespread backl
  6. We still have plenty of room to get better in the field. No one is "expendable", though I do hope all are "expandable" on their successes.
  7. I see Roch and Carlson on different timelines/generations. Emerson might have made Carlson expendable. Roch makes one of Colson/Meidroth/Vargas maybe even Antonacci expandable soon enough? A while back, I suggested that the Sox trade Vargas after 27 if they aren't resigning him (that was a very popular suggestion). Roch could fit right in. Colson was annoying at the end of the season; but he's a good defender and with just a bit more contact..... Sox even have some other MI that look interesting. Maybe another Meidroth that we don't know about. I'm hoping Meidroth is the Sox version of Altuve for the next 10 years.
  8. And I am pretty sure that Getz also had Vaughn on the major league roster as GM and traded him too.
  9. Chris Getz was the Director of Player Development. JR was the Chairman. I believe they both are still with the organization. Now do you share some concerns?
  10. Who was in charge of the team then? Are they still around?
  11. Today

  12. @caulfield12 sure has a problem with authority, doesn’t he? I wonder if he even obeys his paramount leader?
  13. Bigger contracts won't create better players. The question is will it redistribute players from the Dodgers and Mets to the Pirates and As? I'm not certain it will. I think the floor inflates the bottom and the cap deflates the top. We still have the question is having the bulk of your payroll concentrated in two the three superstar contracts or upgrades at more positions?
  14. I think you are right...he stays here. But as for speculation...it feels like it is becoming a Joe Borchard situation although Colson has contributed more that Joe B did so far. And when we needed to give Joe B a change of scenery we ended up with Matt Thornton I think...which was alright. I would hope Colson would get more of a return than Matt Thornton though.
  15. In years past, I got the impression more fans would blame greedy overpaid players for high prices at the ballpark, etc during labor disputes
  16. That's the history. They play brinkmanship games until it starts costing them real money and finally get serious. Meanwhile the millionaires work to get the fans on their side and the owners know fans will always want to support the players.
  17. I guess what he meant was: take on an expiring contract along with something interesting. At least that's what I thought he meant by tanking teams. But then teams could also just sign guys to high AAV 1-2 year deals and try to flip them later.
  18. I've read where is speculation that Colson Montgomery could be traded this off season. I can't help but wonder what the White Sox would get in return for him. I couldn't imagine receiving any real good player for him. If they're not going to get anything decent for him maybe its just best that he stays here.
  19. Some people like dorks as their broadcasters. To each their own. Doesn't change the fact that Bennetti is, in fact, a dork.
  20. There won't be a floor without a cap though I wouldn't think. I'm not convinced that the small market owners would be interested in a floor.
  21. WQith a floor, teams that don't spend aren't going to spend "stupidly" (taking on Beni). They'll spend as smart as they can, while hitting the floor, so you'd absolutely see additional movement. I certainly think it would make a huge difference (depending on floor amount).
  22. I think the owners probably cave. If they don't though, oh yeah. It's going to be ugly.
  23. So now you're on the side of them missing out on games? Serious negotiations not starting in March means games will be lost.
