Right field is probably set with B. Montgomery. Peters could be the guy, but as others have said, let's see if he's the real deal. Sam is okay in LF, but if Peters works out and Bonemer ends up being an outfielder, he becomes an extra guy. 2B might be locked up with Meidroth.

I had high hopes for him myself but even when he was healthy the past few years he just wasn't very good.

With all due respect I need to see a few years of solid play out of Peters before I am convinced he's for real.

I really don't think Pham is going to replace Grichuk in LF against lefties. He might replace Braden in the starting lineup but I doubt it. They want him to get those at bats I'd imagine for his growth. Also then your outfield defense is pretty horrible. Pham is likely just to give them another right handed hitter option off the bench to play matchup games with in later innings.

Earlier I just replied that the Amtrak deal is unlikely to fall through. However, it's still a possibility. This is Chicago, after all. If the Amtrak land purchase effort fails, then perhaps the fallback option would be to build a new ballpark on the site of Old Comiskey and develop an entertainment district around it on the site of the current stadium and some of the parking lots. Then the question becomes whether such a district there would really draw enough people on non-game days to be financially viable.

Boston Smith (5'10" 195 lbs.) is a catcher in the Minors. He was not rated very well defensively. What other position can this guy play? Maybe he was traded before the White Sox explored other options for him.

My own crystal ball says that Sam's value to the line-up would not be easily replaced with Bonemer or other guy in the Minors. We know that Sam brings a lot of intangibles to the field that we love. Why project what a minor league guy might do in the future while at the same time not providing that same latitude to the guys that are already here like Braden, Sam etc.

Eventually I think they try to trade him for pitching. He feels like the odd man out. I like his bat, but his defense leaves a bit to be desired. They could really benefit from an improved OF defense. Sam and Braden have hurt them out there recently.

FWIW next scheduled LHP is 9/11 vs Cardinals. Pham leading off would be the worse thing to ever happen on that day (yes, sarcasm)
