  2. Honestly with half of the season probably gone already, it makes sense to punt on this season if you are questionable.

  3. I mean i can sincerely hope that isn't you being sarcastic. but if it is - then i just hope you find peace in your own life. cause mines a walking shit show right now. I'm logging long effing hours right now. My life isn't going great - but my job is to protect my employer from losses. So yes, I am on calls with CEO's and CFO's for hours a day demanding money from them to protect my employer. You think that it doesn't fucking rip my brain in every direction trying to take care of my wife and my job at the same time? If you want to add on to it, I am going through a complete gut job to my house, and have to move out to find another house to live in while (hopefully) my house gets finished so I don't infect my contractors while im stuck in quarantine. We literally just got the news today from the doctors. Likely have to carry a long term rent once we go full quarantine in the US /factories shut down and can't have a kitchen or work completed on my house. I literally wake up at 6:30 and work til 10pm ... so what is that ... 15.5 hour days. sorry. i rounded up. go eff yourself is actually what i mean. and i can get banned by the mods i dont give a flying shit. i hope you don't have to go through a personal pandemic in your life. I'm out. The health of my wife is #1 in my life. Peace Sox talk. Buy bitcoin. pay attention to what people do. I'm extremely pissed now. Be smart out there. This will be my last post on this board and you can mark that down and time stamp it and seal/mail it. People are assholes in this world.

  4. April 16: White Sox 7, Rangers 6. The Sox scored four in the seventh to erase a 6-3 Ranger lead to push above .500 again. Yoan Moncada continues to heat up with a three hit game, while Abreu (5), Jimenez (4) and Encarnacion (7) all go deep. Keuchel was okay (6.1 IP, 6 R, 4 ER, 9 H, BB, 2 K) but Rangers starter Kyle Gibson was pulled with back issues in the third, and seven Rangers relievers could not stem the tide. Danny Mendick, of course, picked up another hit for the seventh time in eight games. (.377) 10-9 April 17: White Sox 6, Rangers 5. Chicago pulls within a half game of division leader Kansas City with another comeback. Trailing 5-2 in the bottom of the eighth, new acquisition Derek Fisher stepped up to the plate and walloped a grand slam for his first home run as a member of the White Sox. Jose Abreu also contributed with a solo shot (6) in the sixth. A few question marks remain in the starting lineup with sub-.200 averages by Grandal (.196) and Luis Robert (.118). Danny Mendick, of course, picked up another base hit. (.375). Reynaldo Lopez was serviceable again (5.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 5 K) despite spotty control. Aaron Bummer came in for the save in the ninth, but was chased after two walks. Ian Hamilton picked up his first save of the year. After the game, RoboHahn optioned Matt Foster to AA and purchased the contract of Bennet Sousa from Birmingham. 11-9 April 18: White Sox 7, Rangers 3. The Sox stay hot, jumping out to a three run lead in the first with a three run shot by Derek Fisher (2). Fisher's average on the year is up to .312, but still remains a ways away from Tim Anderson's team leading .388 average. Oddly, Danny Mendick went 0-4. Moncada (.241), Anderson, Robert (.143) and Collins (.235) each picked up base hits in the game. Michael Kopech was masterful in six strong innings (2 H, 1 ER, BB, HBP, 6 K) and Bennet Sousa allowed a solo shot to Robinson Chirinos before finishing off the victory in his debut. 12-9 April 19: Rangers 6, White Sox 2 (6 INN). What a weird loss by the White Sox. RoboRenteria decided to flip the script in the starting rotation. With Gio Gonzalez still dealing with some back soreness, Evan Marshall started as an opener and lasted just 11 pitches (.2 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 K) before being relieved by Gonzalez. Gonzalez cruised along until the fifth, where he was battered for five runs. Codi Heuer was able to stop the bleeding, but it was too late before the game was called due to rain in the sixth. Solo shots by Moncada (2) and Abreu (7) accounted for the Sox scoring. After the game, Heuer was sent to AAA and Matt Foster was recalled from Birmingham. 12-10 April 20: White Sox 7, Royals 5. Your White Sox are back in first place! Trailing 5-4 in the seventh, the Sox seized the lead on back to back solo home runs by Yasmani Grandal (3) and Derek Fisher (3) to take a lead they would never relinquish. Multi hit efforts by Moncada, Abreu, Encarnacion, Grandal, Fisher and Mendick paced the Sox during a 15 hit performance. Cease had another strong start (5.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 10 K). Ian Hamilton and Bennet Sousa combined to allow three runs in relief, but Herrera, Bummer and Colome (4 SV, 1.08 ERA) threw 2.2 hitless innings to finish off the win. Colome was diagnosed with mild back spasms after the game, and Jose Abreu was pulled while running the bases. Something to watch. 13-10 April 21: White Sox 5, Royals 4. The good times keep on rolling. Yoan Moncada keeps heating up and gives the White Sox a 5-3 lead on a three run shot in the sixth (3) and Dallas Keuchel picks up his second win on the season (6.2 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) as the Sox push their lead in the Central to 1.5 games over the Royals. Abreu and Colome both returned to action, though Colome was spotty while picking up his fifth save (IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 K). Luis Robert picked up a single to inch his average up to .172, while Nomar Mazara makes a rare appearance (0-2, BB, R). Yoan is now hitting .265. Edwin hasn't stolen a base in a while, however. Oh, and Mendick picked up another single to keep his average at .353. He's probably feeling comfortable at second, and he doesn't need to worry about Nick Madrigal, who hit the IL with an ankle issue in Charlotte. 14-10 April 22: Royals 6, White Sox 1. It looked like the Sox might extend their lead in the Central after taking a 1-0 lead in the fifth after an RBI single by Danny Mendick (.366) knocked in Tim Anderson (.351), but five runs allowed between Reynaldo Lopez and Matt Foster in the seventh and eighth innings were too much to overcome. Encarnacion (.241) and Jimenez (.265) also had singles on the day for the Sox, but the offense could muster only three baserunners against the Royals pen. Oh, and Zach Duke also announced he would retire after the season. 14-11 April 23: Angels 6, White Sox 5. The Sox have fallen into a three way tie for first with the Twins and Royals, if only because the Sox pen couldn't hold on after another quality Kopech start (5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K. The Sox chased Shohei Ohtani in the third, taking a 5-3 lead on the strength of a Leury Garcia HR (1) and Mendick RBI double (.360). However, in the eighth, Tommy La Stella faced Aaron Bummer, who relieved Kelvin Herrera, and La Stella hit a three run shot to take the lead. Kyle Keller would strike out the side in the top of the ninth. 14-12 April 24: Angels 4, White Sox 0. Both teams only managed three hits. Unfortunately for the Sox, all three of the Angels' hits were home runs. Matt Foster started as the opener and was relieved after just three batters, and Gio Gonzalez pitched the next 6.1 IP (3 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K). Abreu had a single for the Sox, and you already know who had the other two hits (.367). Luis Robert is really struggling, hitting just .139. 14-13 April 25: Angels 7, White Sox 2. Its easy to point fingers at the bullpen at this point. Dylan Cease had another strong start (5.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K; 3.90 ERA) but Ian Hamilton (IP, 3 H, 2 ER) and Evan Marshall (.2 IP, H, 3 R, 2 ER) helped cough up a 2-1 lead in the 7th and 8th innings. The Sox were paced on offense by solo shots from Moncada (4) and Mendick (3; .361). Luis Robert also hit his first triple on the year. With just Anderson (.347), Mendick and Fisher (.293) hitting above .250 in today's starting lineup, will those three migrate to the top of the lineup to give Moncada some help? Let's hope so. 14-14 April 26: White Sox 2, Angels 0. Yoan Moncada would lead off the game with a solo shot (5) against Julio Teheran and that's all the Sox would need. Zack Collins would later knock in Tim Anderson with an RBI single with two outs in the ninth, but it was just insurance. Keuchel (5.2 IP, 2 H, 4 BB, 5 K) was a bit spotty with his control, but with no one putting the bat on the ball, it wouldn't matter. The Angels would manage just three hits and the bullpen was strong as Sousa, Bummer and Colome would allow just one hit and one walk in 3.1 IP. Edwin Encarnacion would also have a two hit effort. Dann Mendick would go 0-3 with a walk, but he still leads the team with a .349 average. Sousa was rewarded for his strong relief effort with a plane ticket to Birmingham, to be replaced with Codi Heuer. 15-14 April 27: An off day, but RoboHahn thinks better of his bullpen shuffle, and sends Heuer back to Birmingham and recalls Sousa. Soxtalk has a 200 reply thread wondering why. April 28: Rockies 6, White Sox 2. The Sox fall to .500 in their interleague debut for 2020. RoboRenteria has shfuffled the lineup in interleague (Robert 8, Anderson 6, Jimenez 7, Moncada 5, Fisher 9, Grandal 2, Encarnacion 3, Mendick 4, Lopez 1) and while it scratches out some baserunners, it isn't near enough. Reynaldo Lopez drops to 0-4 (4 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K; 4.22 ERA) and Hamilton and Foster both allow a run in relief. The Rockies would manage four home runs, while the Sox would manage just one extra base hit, a two run double by Mendick (.352). The Sox would ground into five double plays. so I guess that's a thing. Robert would go 2-3 in his debut in the leadoff spot, while Anderson and Moncada also had two hit games. After the game, RoboHahn continued bullpen roulette, opting Hamilton to AA and recalling Codi Heuer. 15-15 April 29: Rockies 7, White Sox 3. The Sox fall under .500 in their last game of April. Michael Kopech was rocked and would not escape the second (1.2 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K) and it was more than enough as home runs by Jimenez (5) and Encarnacion (8) weren't near enough. Abreu (3B) and Anderson accounted for the only other hits by the Sox. Interested to see how RoboHahn juggles the bullpen with an off day coming up, as Gio Gonzalez pitched the last inning of the game in relief (IP, H, ER, BB, 2 K). 15-16 April 30: No major league moves from RoboHahn. Yolbert Sanchez was promoted to AAA. That's something, I guess. Batting leaders: Anderson (.355), Encarnacion (8 HR, 19 RBI). Pitching leaders Keuchel (3.15 ERA, 3 W) Cease (41 K)

  5. Your ignorance does not excuse the ignorance of others, or vice versa. If you want to live life with your head firmly planted where the sun doesn't shine, that is your prerogative, but don't come here expecting sympathy or praise for that ignorance. I feel like I am talking to my 12 year old, but take responsibility for your own actions and quit looking to justify them by the stupidity of others, unless you want to live life as a lowest common denominator.

  8. I love it. It's actually MORE in depth than OOTP IMO. I have FM 16 and have waited on buying a newer one because of match engine problems. Those seem to have been completely resolved in FM 20. I will be buying 20 when it goes on Steam sale as it usually does in summer. If you like soccer at all (or you like management sims) you'll easily get hundreds of hours out of it.

  12. "there is a longer term risk to consider, over and above the tactical. Central banks are central banks for a reason, they are supposed to sit (hide) behind commercial banks, so that the commercial banks take all the risk - not them. But the opening and widening of FX swap lines means that the central banks are now taking on foreign currency credit exposure - that is, the credit risk of the other central banks due to currency mis-matches. And the prospect of direct financing of corporates means that central banks are starting to take on genuine corporate credit risk. All in all, central banks balance sheets are becoming riskier to accommodate the de-risking of the private sector. But what happens when everything blows up again? Do central banks literally go bust? Either they do and we worry about the integrity of fiat currency systems, or they dont because they print money to cover losses (effectively in collaboration with sovereigns, as they remit losses back to them, contributing to fiscal deficits, which in turn need more central bank financing) Either way we worry about the integrity of fiat currency, or inflation. Therefore attention starts to turn to alternative currency regimes, whether gold, or digital, or all of the above. " Those aren't my words - those would be my words if I was better at compiling thoughts - but those are the thoughts of Credit Suisse. But, it sounds like people in this discussion have blind faith in the Fed. And to you, i wish you luck. As i've said for years, do your research. Research fiat currencies. We aren't even on fractional reserve banking anymore. Rules are being bent. fiat currencies are essentially an experiment for the last 50 years. It's a blip on the radar in the history of mankind. fiat currencies have always failed and will continue to fail - and this one is being tested currently. Believe whatever helps you sleep at night - but I have and will continue to invest into bitcoin and gold as hedges.. call me crazy or whatever you want. everybdoy in this world buys insurance, where is your fiat insurance?

  16. One should take a look at Ichiro stats. The man hit 117 homers in 19 seasons and he will be a hall of famer. I'm not comparing them as hitters but in our lineup a guy who can get on base and field and run the bases is exactly what we need imo.

  19. March 11: Looks like virtual Hahn is more antsy to get some value out of James McCann than some of the posters here. He's shipped McCann north of the border to Toronto for outfielder Derek Fisher. March 20: Another favorite Soxtalk topic has found a home. Puig to the Padres for a one year deal, $5.3 million. March 26: An Opening Day trade? Sure. Kansas City sends Trevor Rosenthal and Jackson Kowar to the Brewers for catcher David Freitas, for some reason. Whats our Opening Day Sox look like? Well, the rotation is unchanged. Fulmer has been sent to Winston-Salem (!) and Jimmy Cordero to Birmingham. Jaycob Brugman has also replaced Adam Engel on the roster, while Ian Hamilton and Zack Collins have joined the active roster. Luis Robert is also back in AA for some reason, with Palka taking his place. I'm starting to worry about Robo-Hahn. March 26: White Sox 7, Royals 2. Lucas Giolito absolutely eviscerates the Royals (7 IP, H, 2 BB, 9 K) and the Sox start out with six runs in the bottom fo the first, chasing Brad Keller after 2/3 of an inning. Encarnacion went deep for the first time. 1-0 March 28: White Sox 5, Royals 3. Keuchel nearly matches Giolito. (8.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, BB, 7 K) Bummer gives up two runs in the ninth, but the Sox hold on. Edwin goes deep again. The Brugman as starting CF experiment isn't going as hot. (0-4, 3K, 5 LOB). Soxtalk is also not sure how to feel about Renteria's lineup today (Anderson SS, Enarnacion DH, Jimenez LF, Abreu 1B, Grandal C, Fisher RF, Moncada 3B, Mendick 2B, Brugman CF). But, whatever, it worked. 2-0 March 29: White Sox 5, Royals 2. The Sox start out the year with a sweep. Cease isn't quite as sharp as the first two starters (4.2 IP, 3H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) but 4.1 innings of relief from Hamilton, Marshall and Colome (two hits allowed total) shuts the door on the Royals. Eloy gets his first two home runs of the year and Grandal also gets on the board with a solo shot. Encarnacion continues his strong start with a 1-3 performance and his second (!) stolen base of the year. 3-0 March 30: Indians 4, White Sox 3. Looks like 162-0 is out of the question, but not because of Reynaldo Lopez. (5 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K). Rather Kelvin Herrera coughs up a 2-0 lead in the sixth, and Jace Fry allows two runners to score and the Sox fall behind 4-3 and cannot come back. Moncada is only hitting .077, and Abreu isn't doing much better at .154. Thank God Danny Mendick is hitting .500 (7-14, 1 HR, 6 RBI). 3-1 March 31: White Sox 6, Indians 4. What about Yoan? He gets going with a 2-5 performance, but it means nothing compared to March MVP Edwin Encarnacion (3-5, 2 HR, 4 RBI). It looked like the Sox were headed to another loss, down 3-2 after the sixth inning, but Edwin stepped up to the plate in the seventh and brought in Moncada to take the lead with a two run dong. He then tacked on an insurance run with a solo shot in the ninth. It's not all roses, however, as Gio Gonzalez' long awaited Sox debut lasts just four pitches before being removed with an injury. Seven Sox relievers cover the full nine innings as we await the news on Gio. 4-1 Sox leaders in March Jimenez (.421 avg) Encarnacion (10 RBI, 4 HR, 0.6 WAR, 1.435 OPS, 2 SB...) Oh, and we heard back from Gio. He's day to day with strained abdominal muscle. Robo-Hahn has also apparently gone rogue, as Jace Fry and Steve Cishek have been optioned to AAA, replaced with Matt Foster and Codi Heuer. Cishek had pitched two perfect innings, while Fry carried a 2.70 ERA thru 2.1 IP.

  20. The roster I went with is as follows and goes with what my best guess about what the opening day roster would look like. SP: Giolito, Keuchel, Lopez, Cease, Gonzalez RP: Colome, Bummer, Cishek, Cordero, Fry, Fulmer, Herrera, Marshall Catcher: Grandal, McCann IF/DH: Abreu, Encarnacion, Garcia (IF/OF), Mendick, Moncada, Cuthbert OF: Mazara, Robert, Engel, Jimenez -- That's literally the only thing I'm setting. I'm gonna do a post for each month after that....it's a boring spring break 'round these parts, so why not.

  23. I don't disagree with him about Madrigal. In order for Madrigal to be a "star" he would have to hit a near Tony Gwynn like clip. That's just not a likely outcome. I will be quite happy if Madrigal can produce a 2.5-3.0 WAR most years while being exceptional defensively. We don't need every single one of our young prospects to be superstars. World Series contenders need their stapled role players too.
