The picture was already clear that we have preferred to avoid Boras clients in the past, so we’re on the same page there. I even agreed with you on that front in an earlier post But I didn’t believe that meant we were too petty to do business with him this offseason. I truly believed we would sign a Boras client, which is why I felt that discussing the past was pointless.

What if the plan is to fill as many holes as possible this offseason to get this team back to competing for the playoffs, and then once you are competitive again, you make the huge signing (Betts) to push you over the top? You’ll probably just say there’s no way they sign Betts (and you might be right), but either way, I think this was a necessary first step to move from 72 wins to a playoff contender.

So many people continually claimed that Hahn had zero backup plan after missing on Wheeler. Well, signing Keuchel and Gio is a great backup plan. This is a very solid offseason so far. Another random tweet (from somebody NOT reliable) saying Keuchel to the Sox.

My calculations (which could be wrong) have May 20 as the day for Kopech and April 10 as the day for Robert/Madrigal. I didn’t realize the Charlotte season started on April 9. Now, I didn’t expect the Sox to call up Robert on the very first day after securing the extra year, but it looks like he won’t get much time at all in Charlotte.

I think part of it is also that it’s 9:30 PM on a Friday...and also, it hasn’t been that long since the tweet was posted.

He’s been boozing all night and he said he literally gets these kind of messages dozens and dozens of times per month.

As time goes on, I wonder if 4 years at a lower AAV would get it done...something like 4/$68M. I would guess the there are three year offers out there in the $55M/$60M range.

I wonder if we'd be more likely to go there if Ryu was already off the board. It's scary to play the waiting game because you might miss out on both, but as long as there are two options available still, the Sox have no reason to grossly overpay for either one right now.

I actually hope it turns into a bidding war between us and the Twins, because I think we’d win. Two outcomes worse than this are the following: A) Neither team is interested in overpaying, and Ryu/Keuchel sign outside the division. B) Even worse, we aren’t interested, but the Twins are, and they snag one of them.
