  1. Good point. I'm not sure i trust Carlos to stay in shape after he gets paid. Boras prolly got on him this offseason to get serious since he is gonna be a FA. If he gets a long term deal, he has no incentive to stay that way at least not until the point he gets to be a FA again. And I doubt the Sox will seriously pay more than one pitcher and they would go with Gio over Rodon any day, although they may be priced out of Gio even if they make a real effort.
  2. Can't they still use the QO on him if he has a great year?
  3. Robert prolly should bat 5th this year if thats the case.
  4. He already said Eloy might be a month ahead of the original timetable, ie 4-5 months rather than 5-6, so its not that.
  5. Gio would be a much bigger deal than Vaughn.
  6. Actually that was more like someone like La Stella.
  7. Hopefully this is leaked to create leverage for a trade so that we can legitimately address LF i.e. not Cespedes or Puig.
  8. If Collins can be a legit power LH bat with good OBP that will be huge. Particularly since pretty soon there will be an automated strike zone and Grandal's contract is starting to look like a bit of an albatross. Collins has had a great spring and hopefully Narron can help develop him.
  9. If we weren't so cheap we could have had him in the last signing period and he could have been in the minors this year and possibly up next year so we wouldn't have to pretend Eloy was an actual OFer any longer than this season.
  10. Why would we want a position versatile left handed righty killer who would only cost on average 7m a year for the three years of our first championship window when instead we can have no depth at all for free?
  11. This is pretty good. I dont think Vaughn will stay that low for long. But even the bottom third will be tough on pitchers and they can get pretty good OBP from 789. In fact, it may be the best OBP at 789 of anyone in the league.
  12. Collins at DH then I assume. I get the sense this is all trade posturing.
  13. If there is no long term damage, why would he be a time bomb at DH?
  14. So were just gonna wallow in mediocrity then with scrub bats at both corner OF positions in the midst of the championship window?
  15. Yes and anything that avoids the shoulder/labrum is good. I dont want any long term issues from this injury.
  16. If its the pec ONLY and its August that's prolly the best we can reasonably expect. I would not expect a major trade if thays the case.
  17. We cant afford to be emotional here. There's a window here for most of the 2020s and there's no room for this type of stuff. 6 years vs 1 year. Its a simple cold calculus. Jose can be a team ambassador or something.
  18. Why? Jose is the one who is gonna have to get moved after the season if Eloy is healthy. You don't move 6 years of a great hitter in Vaughn when you can move 1 year instead.
  19. From what people have said, for the long term, pec would be much preferable to the shoulder so there are no lingering issues sapping power. His calling card is power. If thats gonna be a long term issue, then what's he here for? I've accepted hes done for the year. I am praying no shoulder/labrum issues in addition to the pec. Just keep it confined to the pec, let him come back next year and replace him with Gallo. Don't go cheap with Cespedes. NO!
  20. Just get Gallo already. Isn't he under contract for 2 years? Solves the power void issue and is a LH bat and a corner OF. Good bridge to Colas Eloy can play DH next year if he still has his power. Jose/Vaughn at 1B/DH this year. 2022 Vaughn/Eloy if he is 100 percent health and power wise. Just get it done. Might need to part with a couple young pitchers. It sucks but it is what it is.
