  1. Go Sox! Defeat those Insensitive Native American Caricatures!!!!
  2. Yeah, not surprised one bit that the Oh-Wee-Oh thing went with him. It'll be interesting to see if Valentin gets the Joseeeeee JoseJoseJoseeeeee thing in LA. Either way, I'm glad both of those annoying song/chants are gone, even if my daughter liked singing them. They were both way overplayed.
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 07:36 AM) Here's what I've been spinnin' lately: Bloc Party- very, very good Louis XIV-good The Futureheads- eh, so-so anyone else listen to these guys? I've heard stuff by all three of these bands on Q101's "Indie Night", and while they were all pretty good, I don't think I'll end up buying anything by them. Oh, and you're more than welcome, Kid! It's rare that I can sneak a new band past you, so it's always fun when I can, Mr. 7,000,000 Album Man!!! The Clowns were excellent and I miss them a lot!!
  4. If they steal The Sodfather, I might just cry....
  5. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Apr 3, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Possibly performing at a coffeehouse open mic night Saturday night Uh oh, I smell a Bill Hicks Tribute Band here....
  6. First Santo, now Woo Woo. Any more fuzzy Cubbie puppets to make documentaries about? The Woo Woo Movie is a heartwarming story of a hard-luck hobo with a heart of gold who goes from rags to......Cub-colored rags..... Rejected Titles for the Woo Woo documentary: I WOO LOVE WOO CRACK WOO Look, Ma, No Teeth!! Straight Outta The Viaduct The Power Of Woo Bum + Cub Uniform = Mascot Got A Dollar? No. WOO PLEASE WOO? Ohhh...It's YOU - Take 20 Dollars!! :headshake :puke
  7. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Apr 2, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) I think it comes out to .527. And Farmio said he has a .535 OBP, so it follows he is up there hacking. I like that. If he's going to be used in the late innings, chances are he'll hit in run-scoring situations, or at least a situation where he'll be asked to move a runner over. The fact that he's making a lot of contact, and hitting to the right side quite a bit, is going to be helpful. I'm happy for him, he earned his roster spot 100%. Took his opportunity and ran with it.
  8. Recent favorites: Stereophonics - Dakota ( great song! ) The Mopes - Accident Waiting To Happen CD My Chemical Romance - 3 Cheers For Sweet Revenge CD ( I was just OK with the song "I'm Not Okay", but I got this disc from Kid Gleason and I gotta say, it's much better than I expected )
  9. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 04:35 AM) Santo, thanks for the offer, but i won't be on campus on April 4th. I'll either be at the Cell for opening day... ....or in St Louis watching the Illini in the NC Either way it will be a great day, but i'm hoping it's the latter. So what's the story with your OD ticket, Krush, now that you have "other plans" for Monday....
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 2, 2005 -> 12:03 AM) God that was f***ing awesome. Just got back and I have absolutely no voice left. The weather was s*** and for 7 innings so was the game. The Sox made it VERY interesting and exciting at the end, and Aaron Rowand showed once again that he IS the man! Clutch hit and beautiful sliding catch!!! Met up with Kid Gleason and his awesome family at the game, had a couple tasty brews and basically had a great time, despite the awful weather and the basically subpar Jose Contreras.
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 2, 2005 -> 06:45 AM) From the Sun Times. "Catcher Ben Davis declined his veterans' rights to refuse a minor-league assignment and will play for Class AAA Charlotte, thus assuring his $1 million salary." In his situation, I'd do the same. Nobody else was going to pay him a million. He may as well take the cash. Kinda silly to turn it down in the hope of starting for some dismal team.

    Hey Media!

    QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) It's El DuKAY! Not El DuKEY! I'm tired of them mispronouncing this! I'm just afraid that he may turn into El Dookie too many times. He's really vital to the Sox chances this year.
  13. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) key word= when Yeah, I don't think there's any "if" about it.
  14. Every single day Mike North presents a pathetic attempt at a morning radio show, so it stands to reason that his April Fool's joke would be pathetic as well. Although to be slightly fair, I have yet to hear a really good April Fool's joke on the radio. Q101's "joke" was that the Illini were disqualified from the NCAA tournament for players accepting money or gifts or some s***. Lame-o.....
  15. QUOTE(CubsPride34 @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) Wood's my favorite player. Stone was out of line criticizing all last year. He needed to stay in the booth and stay out of the players' business. Please, dude, take off the goggles. The announcers had absolutely ZERO to do with the Cubs' failure last year. The Cubs gagged on the pressure of finally having expectations, then they paid WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much attention to what the announcers were saying and their substitute teacher of a manager didn't tell them to shut the f*** up and play better. There is NO EXCUSE for Kent Mercker to call the broadcast booth whining DURING A GAME. None. The announcers didn't fall apart like wet cardboard against the Mets, Pirates and Reds in the last week of the season. The PLAYERS did, and the MANAGER did. Blaming the announcers for "distracting" them is a classic example of scapegoating. OOOOPS, I SAID "GOAT"..... The Cubs have enough talent to compete seriously for a championship, but it reamins to be seen if they have the stomach for the pressure.
  16. QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) My new apartment is awesome, and the best part is that its roommate free! I might have a new job back in radio by the end of next week! I heart my box! There's a sale on exclamation points! You taking Kevin Matthews' midday slot at CKG? ...it would have to be an improvement.... And there's a sale on exclamation points and you only bought FOUR?? What a cheap-ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) I heart my box too....
  18. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) If you consider 80 albums a "crapload", then yeah, a crapload is awaiting you at the game. 80???? Yeah, that would be a late-night Mexican food and beer crapload! well, 79 albums.....and Marillion......

  20. This has been a fascinating look at how quickly people would desert this site. All it would mean to have a Cub forum is that you'd be able to avoid ALL Cub talk by avoiding one forum. It wouldn't be the Sports Bar anymore, only in the Urinal Bleachers forum.
  21. Congrats on being accepted! Hope you're REDDY for it....
  22. The closest description I could come up with was a "stoner Steven Wright". He was funny despite the difficult presentation. Not an all-time favorite, but a pretty funny guy.
  23. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Leaving work in a few to go to Milwaukee to see the game. Hook up with The Critic while there...finally. I have work to keep me occupied in the meantime. The kids are all fine and dandy and we had a great week with the eldest being on Spring Break and us getting to go to the zoo one day and seeing a sliverback puke in his hands and then eat it. The wife is also good...and smokes Brittany Murphy. Got some Wall Of Voodoo playing while I work. Someone finally described meeting me as "good news"... Finally meeting the Kid called Gleason and getting a CRAPLOAD of music from him! The wife, kid and I are happy and healthy. In the middle of my second vacation day this week. Got some Mr. Show on the DVD player. Gonna see my White Sox tonight!!!!!!
  24. Well, to be fair....if Chip had gotten a few more 2-out hits and Stone hadn't blown all those save opportunities.....oh wait....you mean the broadcasters just sit in a booth and describe the play?
