QUOTE(SouthPaw @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) It's true Not really debating that. Just a little tired of the Bulls going from joke to "WOWZERZ!!!!" in 3 weeks. Fact is, the Bulls were playing better even before the winning streak, but the W-L record wasn't HOT enough for ESPN to notice. If the Bulls lose 3 or 4 in a row, they'll be like "Well, the Bulls are back....." They're like a national Mariotti....he must be poisoning their minds....

Saddest part is, this is only going to escalate as the election gets closer and lots and lots of innocent Iraqis are going to die.

Just saw a teaser for tonight's SportsCenter where the voice of Dan Patrick is heard saying, "The Chicago Bulls....BETTER than the Minnesota Timberwolves????" What a difference three weeks makes.... :rolly

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) How can you say they are not that different? The hamburglar eats hamburgers? Mayor McCheese IS a hamburger. Just a smart one. Maybe it's the special sauce. Seriously, all this Hamburglar persecution here. Have you ever thought he might be a product of a broken home, disadvantaged at birth by some reason, maybe its a mental condition? Have you noticed his speech impediment? Maybe that's related. Honestly, we have to address the root causes of crime in McDonaldland to get to the real bottom of this issue. In the words of my compatriots, Robble robble robble. Robble! I wouldn't think Mayor McCheese would be very smart, since his sauce is "special"... And I think this thread is FANTASTIC!!! or rather....BURGERRRRRRIFIC!!!!!!

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) What if it happened on a Hockey Rink? They wait for it to freeze over, and use it as a puck!

Washington Nationals sign Esteban Loaiza
The Critic replied to Jabroni's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Good luck to Esteban. He had a great year for the Sox, and seems to be a class guy. I hope he bounces back and pitches well for the Natspos. -
I kinda think Clemens wants to retire, since the Stros lost a bunch of talent this offseason and maybe he thinks they can't compete. This is a pretty bad way to go about it, though - if he wins the arb and still retires, he looks foolish for turning down 22 mil. If he loses and retires, or if he wins and plays, he looks greedy. Kind of a no-win situation for him. The best solution is to either hammer out a one-year deal before this goes to an arbiter, or to just retire and say that he didn't want this to drag out.

The thing that still makes me shake my head is that the Cubs paid Ryan Dempster to rehab an arm surgery, they're now paying Williamson to do the same, yet when Jon Lieber - who had a 20-win season for them already - got injured, they just said "OK, thanks, bye now, best o' luck to ya". I'm telling ya, it baffles me....

QUOTE(da_bears86 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) we have a couple of programs that we use now THIS is the kind of detailed, helpful discourse that keeps bringing me back to Soxtalk.....

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 07:52 AM) I'm still pissed about the cuter looking Hamburglar. Why the hell did they decide to make that guy cute? I mean, isn't he supposed to show kids that stealing hamburgers is wrong? Instead, they make him attractive and appealing. Kids today have no idea that if he and Madame had mated, then we would have the ugliest forms of humans in the world. Madameburglars??? hahahahaha..... this thread just keeps getting dumber and better!!!

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) I think if Ed Farmer was a Native American, he'd be called "Bores to Tears" or "Bringer Of Sleep" or "He Who Loves Sammy" or "Shoes Not Socks"

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) HAHA!!!! HAHA!!! I knew it!!! Here he is, purple and mutated and all shake-stealing too!! You're tellin' me that they couldn't lock his purple ass up with TWO eyewitnesses to the shake-thievery??? There is NO justice in McDonaldland.... btw, I love the poem - "the evil Grimace Ronald knows is round and purple and has BIG TOES...." HAHAHA!!!
-
As for Grimace's two missing arms, well, they say fast food's bad for ya.... If that "Super Size Me" guy would've dropped an arm, that movie REALLY would've opened some eyes....

Anyone else win a chance to buy cubs/sox tickets?
The Critic replied to IlliniKrush's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I won the chance to purchase three tickets to the May 30th game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of California of Major League Baseball instead. I think if I won the chance to pay the highest prices of the season to see the Sox play a team that almost everyone here supposedly hates or ignores AND that anyone in the Chicago area has a chance to see 81 more times per year if they choose to, I might just turn down that prize. No offense intended to you, Krush, just saying that I find it funny that it's a coveted prize. -
No names on Cubs home jerseys
The Critic replied to IlliniKrush's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
"....getcha scorecards here....can't tell the players without a scorecard, now that the random testing extends into the offseason......." -
The only possible situation I can think of would be if he was trying to talk too fast and mangled up "King" and "Junior" into one word. But I haven't heard it, so I can't say.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) I'll stick with my 27 inch TV in my apartment for now... Thats just overkill in my opinion... Agreed. That's too much TV for any room in my house. My 27" and 24" TVs are just fine for the rooms they're in.

I'd hold off on Tony G until it's proven that he's 100% healthy. Even then, I wouldn't trade anything valuable for him. I'd give up on jOe-for-4 Borchard for him, but NOT Jurassic.
-
I'd say Carl will spot start in RF and get a day or two per week at DH once Frank returns. Carl is gonna be a valuable guy for the Sox this year. Reports are that he was motivated by embarrassment at how he played last year, and that he's in great shape this year. If his weight is down and his knees are sound, he has pretty good speed for an old guy. He can fill in at 3 spots ( CF, RF and DH ) and I'm sure he can play left if they need him to. Good power and contrary to his Boston experience, a good teammate. Plus he's crazy, and that's a good fit on an Ozzie team....

Just read the recap of the TNA PPV. Triple J is still the champ.....WHAT A SHOCKER. The show sounded HORRIBLE, with people running around all night looking for "clues" that Dusty Rhodes hid around the arena, and endless Kevin Nash/DDP nonsense. ugh ugh ugh. And Ian, I'm not sold on Ring Of Honor either - all these minor feds kinda smell the same. My interest level is so low right now, that I barely even watch Raw anymore, even though their writers are finally writing halfway-decent long-term storylines. SmackDown is horrible, and never worth watching at all. And it's nice to see Batista finally developing a somewhat passable personality. I'm enjoying the way he's messing with HHH lately....not bad.

QUOTE(orangekrush88 @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) Orton is one of the most overated wrestlers in a long time. The WWE made one of the biggest mistakes in a while by hotshotting the HHH/Orton angle, there is no erason why that should have happened right after Summerslam. Now it barely has enough steam to even make it to Wrestlemaina. And as for TNA not being up to par with the WWE, if you watched the WWE's pay per view last week, order tonight then tell me they aren't up to par. Wrestling on whole is in a downward trend, but I'd rather watch Raw than anything the TNA has to offer. I've seen tapes from past PPVs of TNA, and I watch Impact! whenever I remember that it's on, and I'm just not that impressed. They have a few decent guys like AJ Styles and Sonjay Dutt, but there's just too much WCW stink on them. And Jeff Jarrett will NEVER be a main event presence, no matter how many times he talks his Dad into letting him wear the belt.
