  1. QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 08:59 AM) No, you smell funny. Oh, I was too late - better change my reply.
  2. The latest episode of Doug Benson's "I Love Movies" podcast is a must-listen. Adam Carolla and Patton Oswalt are the guests, and they made me literally laugh out loud on the train this morning. Patton and Adam would make a great radio team. They play off each other really well and their styles are different enough not to be redundant.
  3. I read Soxtalk through a neighbor's window for 6 hours before posting. Well, I had to wait for them to fall asleep....
  4. By the time this is over, the cabbie will have tried to run Kane over, only to crash and have Patrick pull him out of his burning cab (and that's where the facial scratches will have come from). Kane also will have tried to give 20 cents back to the cabbie after the coins fell out of the cabbie's pocket during the rescue.
  5. This vendor was working our aisle last Saturday night. And I do mean WORKING IT! He was bustin' out some sweet moves, and everyone around us was into it. The best part was when there was another vendor trying to get up the stairs and he couldn't get around the dancing vendor for easily over a minute. The look on his face was great - he was obviously pissed but I guess he thought if he showed it no one would buy from him, so he had this really insincere grin on his face. Funny stuff.
  6. He made THE CATCH, dammit!!! It's written right there on the wall in left-center!! That's gotta buy him some time, don'tcha think??? [/half-green]
  7. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 01:49 AM) What I don't understand about this whole thing is why did he want change in the first place? Apparently he can't afford to tip a cabbie $1.20. If I'm paying a cab fare like that, I give the guy $15 and say "thanks." I don't want change, unless I'm a cheap ass bastard (and that's coming from a broke college student). My guess is they took offense to being locked in the cab until they paid, so there was no way they were going to tip the guy. Still, though, you chalk the 20 cents up to a bad experience and you don't hit the guy.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) I DVR'd it. Could you tell it was the Miz during the match? No, they "Calgaried" him up pretty good (Flames jersey, maple leaf kneepads, the whole thing). And I'm sorry I didn't use the spoiler tags, but I didn't think anyone DVR'd wrestling anymore.
  9. That was a pretty fun way to work Miz back onto Raw. He wrestled under a mask as "The Calgary Kid" against Eugene in a "Raw Contract On A Pole" match. Of course, everyone assumes Eugene will win, and then The Calgary Kid pulls the "upset". After Lillian declares the winner as The Calgary Kid he unmasks, grabs a mic and says: "Actually, the winner of this match is THE MIZ, AND I AM AWESOME!!!"
  10. I am laughing at myself right now, because my main conflict with this move is that Podsednik's been playing too well to have playing time taken from him. I cannot believe I just typed this.
  11. The Critic to start avoiding the Trib: August 31.
  12. This is a crazy thread. Dye is not atrocious and he is no longer a defensive stud. He's normally a little better than he's played recently. And FWIW, I still think Joe Crede should have been the Series MVP in '05.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 12:31 PM) Glory days... Yeah, they passed me by, Glory Days, When my back and my foot won't comply...
  14. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_dadd...?urn=nhl,181695 Wow. Punching a cabbie over twenty cents??? Kane's gonna get a rep as an enforcer!
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) We switched up for lefties. Oh, you'd have been in deep trouble 10 years ago.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 07:48 AM) Yeah, we had to get a little creative, but it worked. Right field closed? As a lefty, I HAAAAAATED that rule, but it made me a good opposite-field hitter.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 09:05 AM) Depeche Mode, Coheed, Rise Against, and Tool have melted my face off this weekend. It was probably just the sudden heat wave. I would have liked to see Rise Against.
  18. QUOTE (rockren @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 01:40 AM) If Thome wants to come back for a bargain next year...I'd have a hard time passing that up. Besides, I'm worried about our lineup becoming a bit right handed dominated as we move forward. Its not a big issue, but something to take into consideration. I agree with this, and I think Thome is the kind of guy who'd consider a discounted return, but I think he'd still get a multi-year offer from somebody. (Probably just a 2-year deal, but that would basically guarantee he gets to 600 barring injury). I'd love to see him come back, he's one of my favorite players, but the Sox are doing a nice job of blending young players in, and being able to move Dye to DH would probably be best if there was a younger OF to replace him.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 12:34 AM) Thanks dude, Im glad you brought us a winner. That means you can have more games from me and stay off the ignore list. Ironically, though, the wife and I had to go walk the concourse to get the rally started. We were right next to the Fan Deck when Thome sent them a souvenir. I was marveling at the blast and my wife was teasing me, telling me it was "helped by the wind".
  20. Heard you played a basketball game instead. (5-on-5) lol
  21. What a great time! Rock's seats are f***ing GREAT - I highly recommend people grab a game if you can! I was walking the concourse when Thome sent that ball into orbit - damn, what a blast!
  22. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) My God. How annoying would he be when he was on coke? How often did he mix up his stash with oxyclean? We probably saw the coked-up Mays regularly. I heard a couple podcast interviews where Mays sounded weird, down. He probably wasn't on the stuff then.
