  1. At the time you started saying that, it was .420 since May 1st. It's going in the wrong direction if youre trying to yell progress.
  2. Can't believe how many times Getz has been compared to Stearns on this board. Also, this is Getz second year while most of those guys are still in their first. In Getz first year he set the record for worst team in MLB history. None of the guys you are critiquing have come close to that level of ineptitude. In fact, everyone on that list is better than this year's White Sox after the great "progress year" from Getz. Pretty funny.
  3. Yeah, putting Getz and colson in the same sentence is offensive to colson.
  4. My issue is no one would ever be excited about a 100 loss team, if they hadn't lost 120.
  5. I'd argue it's the most predictable if we're talking regular season, just for the simple fact that it has the most games so the most outcomes and opportunities for skill to rise. None of them are predictable in the sense that these guys, for the most part, are so close in talent.
  6. Why would anyone defend Getz? Ishbia will not be promoting from within a failing organization. That I am certain. I'm also certain no one will ever be clamoring for Getz to run their baseball team in my life.
  7. Sox had a 73 wRC+ in Match/April, and 91 since with bad defensive and base running numbers as a group. Is it better? Yes. It's also the 4th worst in baseball since April.
  8. Burger had basically the same length of success with Miami as he did with the Sox. Hendriks best years were with the A's. Dunning's best year was with Texas. Graveman's best year was with Sea/Hou. Quintana is still in the league with a 3.32 ERA at 36, 9 years after leaving the Sox. Middleton was a middle reliever who was on his fourth team with when he signed with the Sox, proceeded to have a 4.58 FIP while with the Sox. Not sure why he's included. Ironically enough, once the Sox traded Middleton, he had a shut down 14 innings for the Yankees.
  9. I think his slider was being classed incorrectly his last few appearances of 2024 as a cutter. He talked about them tightening the spin and the velo was up a little. I dont really have much to go on outside of visual, but just my thoughts.
  10. If anything, the Dodgers told him to just throw his fastball and slider and to scrap everything else, while the White Sox had him throwing 4 pitches.
  11. I don't see much noticeable change with the White Sox in pitch mix: April-June, his four seam usage was right around 78.25% June through end of July it was 77.5% August and September it was 77% If the transformation was one less fastball per 100 pitches, I'm having a hard time buying it.
  12. Kopech's ERA in July before traded (his last month with the White Sox) was 5.79 in 9 innings. August with Dodgers .68 ERA September with Dodgers 1.86 ERA Very confused how he "was a shut down closer" before he left.
  13. I know, I'm speaking of Davis Martin. He's not literally 40, but he's not a young arm. The guy will be 29 in a few months.
  14. I think most people in this thread are far too high on Burke. I don't think he's a MLB starter. He has one average pitch and then four below average offerings. With Cannon, he at least has two possible + offerings. I think he could be worked with to be serviceable possibly. Martin is like 40 years old.
  15. The Sox are 3rd to last in wRC+. That anchor they set last year is causing praise to be heaped on a guy in charge of the 3rd worst offense in baseball.
  16. If the Sox get a 4 and 3 win player + an avg regular out of the deal, then I'd obviously agree. I think that scenario requires everything to go right/improve. I wouldn't say it's highly unlikely, but I think it's less likely than not. Time will tell. If they get 5 or 6 WAR spread across 3 positions for a 6 WAR+ player, that's a pretty decent loss.
  17. If they're playing service tricks with a guy whose more likely to be out of the league than in it in 6 years, shame on them.
  18. Teams aren't going to net a + when they trade 1 player that's worth 5+ WAR for 3 players worth 5+ WAR. The value of that one 5 WAR player is significantly higher than the value of those three players. That said, it's still very possible that Teel and Mont are 3+ WAR players, at which point both teams would win. Can't emphasize how hard is to find unicorns like Crochet.
  19. Garrett and Skubal have really started to separate themselves from the pack now. He's 2nd in fWAR at 5, which is actually 1 full WAR higher than the 6th place guy (Hunter Brown). Skubal at 5.5 is leading the pack. Other Cat ranks: 3rd in ERA 3rd in FIP 4th in K/9 2nd in IP 2nd in Wins Meanwhile: Meidroth - 1.2 fWAR Teel - .7 fWAR Montgomery 167 wRC+ at AA and having a nice year in general. With Gonzalez not looking like he'll amount to much of anything, this trade looks like it's going to come down to whether Montgomery turns into a ++ player or not. I think Teel will be an everyday catcher, but Meidroth is trending towards a utility guy and a catch+Util player would be a huge loss of a trade for the 2nd best pitcher in baseball.
  20. It's almost as if... one trait of a good leader/builder is that when they leave, things keep churning in the right direction because they build an infrastructure that's not reliant on one person being there.
  21. Every team wanted to hire Stearns. Getz wouldnt be hired by any other mlb team. The crazy comparisons to other GMs is wild.
  22. When was their system ranked 2nd in baseball? Not doubting, just curious. Id argue the difference was all those teams had a few ++ big league pieces that their #1-2 farm was joining. The Sox had one MLB piece on their roster without those guys.
  23. Another bomb. Would make me feel a little bit better about my assessment of vaughn when drafted if he just dominates for a few years after leaving the Sox.
  24. You had me blocked so I couldn't send you this via PM so I'll just post here. Wanted to let you know I'm hoping for nothing but the best for you in your battle with lymphoma. Stay strong and kick ass my guy!! Truly and sincerely.
  25. He won't sell the team because he doesnt want it to be turned into a money grab. Mentioned he'd rather create a billion fans at a good price than maximize profits because once you build the following, you'll already have more than you'd ever need.
