  1. Shoulda waited for a better spot. Maybe in Game 64 to get him a clean inning.
  2. The Bulls mean a lot to me, after the Sox, but my understanding is that the process of change began when Pax told ownership that they needed someone other than him in charge. Is that just what the public is being fed?
  3. McCann's halo is a bit askew these days. Exposed by playing every day? Grooved batting practice fastball...at least elevate the damn thing.
  4. Q got 2 strikes and started pecking at corners when he was here. With the Cubs the wicked slider turned into a putaway pitch. So there's at least one pitching coach better than Cooper.
  5. Can't hit the fastball if slider is playing with your mind. I saw him K on a slider that bounced in the exact middle of the LH batter's box. Get him to a shrink. Wouldn't hurt to see Engel in CF for a few days. He'd have made that catch. I know of a good shrink in Schaumburg, near the training facility.
  6. Majextic shot. He has a beautiful stroke. If he's coming back from the aftereffects of whatever, can we see more of those?
  7. Scouts got a tiger in their collective tank. That's a big change from what seems like forever.
  8. You mean that the bunting decision should depend on who's at bat and who's up next? Revolutionary! 😎
  9. Back to Stone, which is it, Mouthpiece for Ownership, or Criticize Too Much and He'll Get Fired Like He Did With The Cubs? It can't be both.
  10. In his postgamer Engel said that RR told him if the infielders are moving (the wheel play) fake bunt and swing away. Ricky's trying to credit his men and that's a good thing. I'm giving credit to RR. You can give it to whomever you want or whatever your agenda says.
  11. I only saw a little of the game. Did Mitch find any secondary receivers or is he still locked in on the primary?
  12. Running better, swinging the bat better, made a great play at 3B on a topped ball. If he gets near last season's form we'll be scary good. COVID's a tough one to kick if it hits you the wrong way. The medical profession isn't sure of the long-term effects yet.
  13. Nitpicking a fine post here, but McDonough had as much to do with those championships as you and I did.
  14. The one that Burdi blew a save in just after we drafted him?

    RR

Whole lotta people on here seem to like public humiliation of players as a motivating factor. Where do you guys work?
  16. Nailed it. Throwing 97 but overthrowing to get it. He needs 2020 to get right from the injuries. Cease or Heuer throw 97 and look like they're playing soft toss. Covey? Had those 2 magic months where he hit 95 and dazzled. Then he regressed. So sad. I liked the guy. Lotta guys seem to need 2020. Maybe the whole team does. 2021 may be the glory year. Won't hurt to get some playoff experience now, tho. Maybe some more time to sort out the pen and get some starters right.
  17. Shoulda put in Mariano but he's not on the team. Jimmy tossed it wide and slow to the glove side and true, Yas was stretching, not in an athletic stance, and just plain didn't react in time. He woulda been out, sez I and my ancient eyes.
  18. Getting that summer of 1969 feeling, with Harry in St. Louis calling out "The Cardinals are coming, Cubbies." Turned out it wasn't the Cardinals, but he had the right idea. It is the Cardinals this time.
  19. He's got a nice moving fastball (and a horrible past record). Why is he better than Fulmer? Any reason works for me.
  20. He got a bad carom, hit the cutoff man, and Anderson's high throw let the run score. Not Eloy's fault.
  21. If you believe Stone is giving hints about management's thinking on RR, then you must also believe that he's doing the same thing when he pumps up McCann at the expense of the Big New Acquisition. And that can'r be their thinking when they owe the guy a fortune. 'Splain that away.
  22. He did throw some wicked cutters tonite. We've been so good he's hasn't gotten the work closers need to stay sharp. He definitely manned up when the score was tied and kept it winnable.
