  1. Good assessment. They spend plenty but in the wrong places because of incompetent management. If I were JR I'd be livid. But don't let it affect the standard narrative that they won't spend. JR must see something in Getz that sets him apart from KW/RH. It's fair to say that none of the rest of us see it. In his own mind, he's still smarter than everyone else.
  2. Takes the ball every five days and gives you a chance. Only Clevinger does the same. Touki tries. Cease and Kopech? Tail end of the rotation inconsistency. But I think Cease has tweaked something in his arm.
  3. Hate to call him the Ace of he staff, but he gives you a genuine chance every time he takes the ball. If he's not in jail, he deserves to be here. Let he who is without sin...
  4. Stone might be a good advisor to JR. Not a GM candidate, but he checks my boxes on knowing the game and its people and having JR's ear. Hope he's part of the mix.
  5. So many possibilities. Not that they would be the hire, but who's advising Jerry? Hawk? Thome? AJ? Pat Fitzgerald? Does Jerry know enough about the game to identify the gem we need? As long as it's not internal.
  6. Is he still paying Ricky? Who looks better and better every day. In retrospect, of course.
  7. JR? Midseason? To guys he thinks of as family? Man, he must be one pissed off 87 year old. So it's not only us who are livid about the incompetence we see. Good for you, ya old Dodgers fan. I can't believe this!
  8. 87 years old and knows he'll never get to the promised land before he croaks... There's merit in your post. Time for him and the rest of us to face reality. And he did buy land on the west side recently. And Nashville is a great town. Music, barbecue, weather. Great place to live and work. Wouldn't blame him if he did, but then he has to unload the Bulls too.
  9. Eureka! We have found the consultant we need, someone with a record of success. Fitz!
  10. That would mean that he's the cause of everything but not responsible for anything. Now I get it.
  11. I remember some shots to RF in previous seasons. Few and far between now.
  12. Wunderkind in college with the bat until our system got hold of him.
  13. Almost forgot Stone's usual blather about the run they scored in the 9th off Alzolay being due to using a closer in a non-save situation because the adrenalin doesn't kick in in a one run game with the playoffs on the line. Say this drivel before it happens, Steve, instead of waiting until after and you might have a little more believability. You're getting tiresome.
  14. Wish this was true but unprovoked attacks occur. Nature of the beast. Centuries of breeding. Get a Rottie. All they’ll do is lick you into a happy submission.
  15. True, until they rip your face off for no reason at all. Or maybe they won’t, good for you.
  16. Singles hitting LF, big Sox prospect, wound up with the Cubs after staying on Square One here. Wasn't much better there. Like Andrew, thus the comparison.
  17. I'm pretty sure there have been cash calls over the years, but I don't know about a payout. Nor do I know if there's a market for the shares. You'd be the one to know an insider. When the Big Moment comes, they'll all have done very well, for certain. But that doesn't buy a hot dog and a root beer at Portillo's for lunch tomorrow..
  18. Andrew isn't a complete pile of anything. He's at least as good as Ryan Sweeney, who made $8M in his entire career. Seriously, have the shareholders ever got a payout? I don't know that they have. 😄
  19. Overestimated his own talent, did Hahn. It's not adjusted for inflation, of course, but Ryan Sweeney, with virtually the same stats, made $8M in his whole career. We're giving Andrew $17MX5. If JR is as smart and thrifty as we think, how can he not be furious?
  20. Gives us a clue as to why he left Scholtens in too long yesterday.
  21. Great bullpens make great managers. The opposite is also true.
  22. Gave this a lotta thought. Betts was wrong. What were the Sox supposed to do, go after the winner of a fair fight? They did the right thing by getting Timmy the hell out of harms way, thx, AV.
