I don't mind players doing that. I just enjoy seeing more outward joy and animation on the field, rather than the stoic and soldier-like approach.

Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M
And the best way to mitigate risk on a deal for a premium player is to never offer one in the first place. Go Sox!

Pretty sure these teams signing the deals are aware of that risk. Meanwhile they have a bonafide superstars in their prime years as they try to win titles.

Fire Rick Hahn
It's pretty cool how risk-averse the team can be with regards to the contracts they won't sign, but they'll go right ahead and throw a couple of first basemen out in the outfield, shrug their shoulders, and see what happens.

2023 MLB offseason signings and rumors thread
Was hoping the O's would have been a little more active by this point. Kind of a bummer.

Your 2023 Off-Season Plan
We are not there yet. We are not actually in the car yet. In fact, we don’t even have a car yet because Hahn is waiting for the right deal on a 94 Mercury Sable to present itself.

Sean Murphy Traded to Braves
Maybe Liberty Media is building them a stadium.

Joey Gallo Rumor Thread
Just nestling into that White Sox sweet spot of kinda sorta not really contending, but perhaps contending if every break goes their way. And then who’s laughing?

Classic. If ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If it is broke, also don’t fix it. Because then you have to fix it.

All of their notes would end in question marks though.

I think this illustrates why so many of these conversations are going in circles. - They aren't going for it and spending money, so might as well rebuild. - But we don't trust this FO to do the rebuild. - And the FO office isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so might as well try to go for it and spend money. - They aren't going for it and spending money, so might as well rebuild. ???

White Sox interested in Athletics Catcher Sean Murphy
By that logic there'd only be like 6 total threads.

Joey Gallo Rumor Thread
I’m imagining one of those scratch off lotto tickets the size of a fricken wall. Ugh, what a pain that would be. Needing a ladder to reach all the scratch off parts. And imagine the clean up!

Joey Gallo Rumor Thread
Spoken from my own crotchetiness, I think it’s sort of a mood-swingy thing by nature because one can both 1) Understand that Gallo may very well be the best possible realistic move and 2) Hate that that’s a rational and coherent thought.

Put some respect on Clancy’s chips’ name.

The problem is that the Sox are only targeting leftover players.

The two new threads I wake up to are the Padres signing Bogaerts and the Sox Joey Gallo rumor thread. It’s fucking poetic.

I'll certainly take consolation prizes at this point, but I don't know. I get the big picture angle if it's an overpay, but the Twins would still be adding a good player.

How can you both believe in the talent and be open to significant change? As the kids say these days, tell me you don’t believe in the talent without telling me you don’t believe in the talent. Or is it, tell me you aren’t open to significant change without telling me you aren’t open to significant change. I suppose ultimately it’s tell me you don’t have a direction without telling me you don’t have a direction.

Disappointment is already the overall vibe here. Expectations are incredibly low, even for Sox fan standards.

The #Whitesox still seeking outfielder like Aaron Judge

Cody Bellinger to the Cubs
I'd imagine they have several more moves to make...

Oh man, that can get you such a haul of relief pitchers.

6 Years Since Chris Sale Trade
I wasn't implying that you didn't understand the phrase, I was implying that it's absurd to rely solely on pixie dust and luck over and over. We, well the majority of us anyway, didn't know at the time that this FO could/would fail at a rebuild, so it was time to try something different. Now we know.
