  1. Welp, time for another one of their triumphant two game winning streaks (followed by a two game losing streak, followed by a two game winning streak, etc, etc). This team is a joy.
  2. No doubt in my mind that they will have enough two game win streaks (lol) leading up to the deadline to convince themselves they should still be buyers, yet never even get above .500.
  3. That almost makes it sound like a luck thing. Make no mistake, they’ve earned being this bad.
  4. It’s the high level version of saving Liam for a save situation that never comes.
  5. If you expect a sense of urgency for a series against a team ahead of them in the standings when it’s only late July, that’s your own fault.
  6. They’re so consistent with their disappointment. How annoying.
  7. Injuries, slowed development, org wants to keep them down longer, part of a trade package. There are plenty of reasons. I'm not saying it's impossible, I just don't think they should be penciled in as part of the plan for next year. If they force the issue, that's a great problem to have.
  8. Yeah, you may wanna temper expectations a bit.
  9. Slow? yes. But most of those 2005 guys were not oaf DH types. Everett and Dye, sure. Thomas barely played that year. Konerko, AJ and Crede were all serviceable or better at their positions that I don't recall preferring to see them DH.
  10. Unfortunately, I think anything not purely sports related is considered politics to some these days. All roads lead to "stick to sports and stop being woke" or something.
  11. Amazing how low the bar is. Just show a pulse for a couple days and your job is safe.
  12. The last time the Sox were over .500 was on May 25 when they were 22-21. The last time they were two games over .500 was on April 20 when they were 6-4.
  13. I think he understands the risk, but also knows what he wants. Good for him.
  14. Knowingly playing the two most important games to date shorthanded by two players is the urgency I’ve come to know and love with this team.
  15. They really need to sustain some sort of success. They’ve looked great these first two games with convincing(!) wins, but it’s still too easy to envision them completely falling on their faces these next two.
  16. I feel like there are two grades to give out, because the decision for a contender to sign Velasquez as the only SP depth add is an F. But I agree that he’s been more or less what was expected. It’s just that the expectations very low to begin with. I don’t recall most disliking this signing. I thought many saw it as a no brainer to help fill Lynn’s innings. But yeah, A+++
  17. I agree he’s an injury risk regardless, but it’s not a binary thing. The degree of risk is less if the MRI shows nothing, rather than nothing drastic. Plus, him playing banged up can affect his performance (or already has been) to the point that other players on the roster are just better options. It’s a sad state. Dude’s become such a huge question mark.
  18. Well, yeah, but that sure feels like a big if. "Reasonable" and "nothing drastic" paired with Eloy's series of setbacks doesn't exactly make me want to hurry him back in there, especially right before the break.
  19. I like to think that the standard for minor league living conditions can and should improve over time. Is that pampering?
  20. I would take Ozzie over TLR. But I would take my dog over Ozzie.
  21. Glad we can provide the blueprint for what not to do.
  22. Nah. They’re even bad at being bad, so they’ll probably win like 6-3 to prolong the “there’s still time” talk.
