  1. I'm not all that optimistic about the Sox, but how can you say the Twins lineup is superior without, you know, overrating the crap out of the Twins hitters?
  2. I must have missed when he demanded to be the leader of the team and everything that comes with it. But yeah, he should take some responsibility, as should every other damn guy. He was the default leader of the team that didn’t have many other candidates, not a miracle worker.
  3. I don't understand this take at all. It wasn't in his contract to overcome any amount of dysfunction that arose. Having unrealistic expectations about what Abreu was capable of as a leader is nobody's fault but those creating those expectations.
  4. It wasn't his job, though. Any time a player provides leadership, it should be considered a bonus rather than something they are supposed to do.
  5. I’m gonna get a jersey with “Pitch Clock” on the back
  6. Terrible move. Padres will regret this in 2033.
  7. I'd say it's pretty comparable. "Shut up and play, unless you're saying something I agree with." I'd prefer to hear players talk and show their personalities while saying things I may not agree with, rather than have them robot style giving cliché responses or not talking at all.
  8. I assume that meant the generic cookie cutter response where he says he's seen the Sox a lot from being on Cleveland and they have loads of talent and he's thrilled to be here etc etc...
  9. Maybe I’m setting my expectations for Grifol too high, but I think we’ll see Leury being used much more in his intended utility role, Elvis or not.
  10. Blocking non-elite prospects is not a bad thing. Let Sosa force their hand by raking in Charlotte for a few months. This move is fine.
  11. Why spend money on players when hoping everything works out is free?
  12. I had to read that first sentence at least five times because I thought it was closer (distance) and not closer (pitcher). What? He wants a seat closer to the field in the dugout? What are talking about here? I am so smart. S-M-R-T.
  13. It’s such a damn chore being a fan of this org.
  14. Counterpoint: Rick and co are going to hope harder than they’ve ever hoped before. Don’t you dare underestimate the power…of trying to get the universe to fix your problems for you.
  15. When Hahn said they had to earn the fans trust back, I didn’t realize their approach would basically just be them saying “C’mon, just trust us. C’mooooon.”
  16. Wait, so move the park to Addison or Arlington Heights because it's someone else's turn to do all these things?
  17. No, in the short term I’d probably view it as a pleasant surprise to accomplish that in spite of the organizational ineptitude. But ultimately, in the grand scheme of things, I’d also call it a disappointment. Another first round exit doesn’t really do much for me anymore. The thing is, the path was there for them to succeed. This wasn’t a being sold beachfront property in Nebraska type thing. They just did pretty much every thing wrong since the contention window opened.
  18. It’s all relative to expectations. We were sold the idea that this was a team contending for multiple championships. The A’s, Pirates, Rockies and Reds are not even pretending to be competitive like the Sox are.
  19. Let Gene Honda do play by play over the PA system. Also, assigned seating by first name. I suppose I’m just rooting for chaos at this point.
  20. I have indeed always wanted to experience the park by sitting at a buffalo wild wings that is inside a parking garage.
  21. In the spirit of your excellent post, you can’t even trust that this is the low point.
  22. Targeting that pitcher with back issues is more Hahn’s style.
  23. Now that we’re done pretending good moves will be made, it seems like we’ve officially entered the blowing everything out of proportion part of the offseason.
