Hell, even I am more optimistic about Grandal over Eloy. Grandal looked healthy and was swinging a solid bat in Charlotte. Eloy has looked like Eloy. -

If I could bring back one hot dog stand, it would be Wally's (Central and Diversey). Leon's hot dogs, garden on a bun. Bowser Dog was a good alternative, but they closed as well. They were replaced by Auto Zone and townhouses, respectively. Where is Sammy's? I'll have to check it out if accessible. Jay's ((Nagel & Montrose) and Bob-O's (Irving Park east of Cumberland) are my two go-tos. Mr. Beef on Harlem south of Irving was solid until they sold a couple of years ago. Can't do deep dish or anything Lou's due to their sausage patty. -
Ditto basketball.

Bullshit, all of it. 2B, RF and SP are your greatest needs. Sure, every team can use an extra bullpen arm or two, but it should not be the "priority". Yep. Konerko, Dye and Iguchi were slightly below average in terms of fangraphs advanced defensive ratings, but nowhere near the bottom. 2005: C Pierzynski (7th among 21 qualified catchers); 1B Konerko (10th of 15); 2B Iguchi (12th of 18); 3B Crede (9th of 19); SS Uribe (4th of 25); LF Podsednik (3rd of 17); CF Rowand (2nd of 18); RF Dye (12th of 19). 4 teams called Conforto post-draft
South Side Hit Men replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Age 28 Conforto Ages 33-35 Corbin, Grandal, Keuchel & Lynn Love Moncada. Would trade Eloy because he still has value but has no track record of ever staying healthy, being a quality OF or being able to DH (his DH spilts are awful). Eloy's fWARs are 1.4, 1.7, 0.5, -0.4. Eloy's best two seasons are comparable to Conforto's 2021. Anyway, my phone is charged, so my work here is done. -

Hahn's plans the past three years of "hope for the best" with Mazara /Eaton / Sheets & Engel, with Jake Lamb and Brian Goodwin sprinkled in, isn't working. Sheets wouldn't even be on the roster if they had a credible LH starting RFer. Conforto's .824 OPS is better than everyone except Abreu (.856) and Robert (.833), and is much higher than what one could expect with either rookie breaking into the league. The window is shutting in a few more seasons, feel more comfortable going with a late 20s player than all the 30 something players Hahn and Tony have been stockpiling. -

Yes, anything is possible, but based on the way the Sox slow rolled his promotion (at least in Colas' eyes), without a team friendly deal in place I don't believe they are in any rush to start his clock. In terms of the minor league schedule, they typically end in late August / early September, but based on your post it sounds like they are running later because they likely started later w the lockout. -

He's played 3 games in AA, with a few weeks left in the season. Perhaps he is an in season call up in 2023 if he is promoted and can mash in AAA the first half of the year, but he is not on the Opening Day roster. -
If the Sox trade for Juan Soto we have a chance.

I don't see it unless attendance heats up the final two months, they make the playoffs, and sustain / add to the Season Ticket base. They are not getting the same walkup crowds they got last year once the restrictions were lifted last season on June 25th. Currently, they are running closer to 2019 tanking attendance than 2021, though their inflation adjusted revenue is likely higher per ticket, with many 2019 tickets discounted / given away. I went to several 2019 games for $3 a piece based on tickets sold to employees at the Illinois Center for April, May and September weekday games. That said, they are spending more on payroll per fan this season than in previous seasons. Significantly higher national and other shared MLB revenue will cover much of the difference, but I don't believe all of it. Budgets are based in part on the following season projected revenue, which I don't have, this is the best cocktail napkin analysis I can do with public information. 2016 21,829 (1,746,293 / 80 Dates) $5,245 payroll dollars per average fan ($114,498,667 / 21,829) 2019 21,426 (1,649,775 / 77 Dates) $2,343 ($50,204,444 / 21,426) 2021 28,367 (1,134,676 / 40 Dates: June 25-end of regular season) $2,269 (1/2 $128,716,666 / 28,367) 2022 24,146 (1,062,445 / 44 Dates). $8,008 ($193,370,219 / 24,146) -

I'm presuming a 2-3 year deal. The Sox could use a RF and LHB. I assume the Sox are not in the Aaron Judge market. The rest of the field is slim pickings in 2023. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/right-field/ -
Said they had to go 8-4 vs. Cleveland, Minnesota and Cleveland, to be possible buyers heading into trade deadline week. Need to go 3-1 vs. Cleveland to hit that mark. I like Kopech getting extra time, though based on his earlier comments, the knee will be an issue through yearend. It was either Lynn or Martin Saturday, hopefully Lynn can bounce back.

Garden on a bun + mustard. Also, I don't buy Vienna hot dogs (but ok with their condiments). Preferred Leon's when they were in business, now whoever Superdawg uses plus the Costco hot dogs (Kirkland?). Ketchup is the devil's condiment. It is not allowed in my house. Ditto Mayonnaise. -

Bernstein worked well with Terry Boers who checked his worst impulses. He has lost his way after Terry retired. Since that point, listened online if there was an interesting Sox interview, but rarely even checked at that level the past few years. This latest incident with their lying afternoon producer, and the Ozzie time waster interview have pushed me to deleting the website link. It's bullshit, all of it. Never bothered with ESPN, local or the national windsocks. -
