I don't see Vaughn being able to handle 1B as a regular. He's a DH, as is Eloy, Sheets, Burger, and with Robo umpires eliminating framing, Grandal.

White Sox Interested in Mahle/Castillo?
South Side Hit Men replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Steve Stone also left the Cubs TV booth for the Sox radio booth, after some time off. Loved the Farmeo pairing. I loved Farmeo, also like Len's approach. I liked everyone Ed was paired with as well. Also liked "The Commander" Bob Elson. Harry Caray / Jimmy Piersall are still my all time favorite announcer duo. Hawk and Jason are nice people, but not a fan of either of their broadcasts. Dave Kaplan is trash. -
I'm old enough to remember Tony also sucking at managing in the 1980s.

If Hinch, Bochy, Tito, or another solid manager led the Sox, they would guessing 45-36 at this the official half way point. The problem is the Sox spot their opponents 1-2 runs a game before the first pitch is even thrown: Poor lineup construction, platoon obsession over playing your best players (offense and defense) Hitters and pitchers unprepared against opponents. League worst defensive alignments. Not recognizing when a pitcher is gassed. Prioritizing Unwritten Rules and bullshit such as getting Tony's guys a personal "Win" or "Save". No sense of urgency at the end of games in terms of strategic decisions. Dog ass, uninspired effort by most players night in and night out. This is a complete and utter shitshow. The roster construction is a debacle, but Tony makes it worse, far worse, than it should be,

#EvenMoreLeury Nice they gutted it out and fought back this afternoon.
-
It's not Leury who is making the lineups. He is a reserve player in his 30s playing as a regular for the 4th straight season. The entire world knows this, except for Hahn and Tony.

Out on ball four.

Hear me know, believe me later.

Could definitely use the $50Mish in savings, assuming there was someone competent who would spend it.

Team Wins > Personal Wins Except for Tony.

Pagan demoted to 5th inning makes sense. Pagan facing the heart of the order does not.
-
Mukbang is the only Sox player I don't like on this team. Forgot about Joe Kelly. Dallas was the third but is gone.

If Hahn is leaving, rather have a competent evaluation of players and smart trades. Don’t trust Hahn to make any important decisions.

Hell, they are fucking up @Richie ‘s.

Rick Hahn - Mastermind of Failure
South Side Hit Men replied to Harry Chappas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hahn is the architect of this roster. Hahn also thinks he has done a great job the past decade, with the possible exception of Tatis Jr.. Hahn had no 2B, RF, starter depth, relief depth or organizational depth before Tony arrived, and has only doubled downed on his obstinance and obsession of overpaying for end of career players. TLR has input, but Hahn has failed at nearly every aspect of his job. He remains here, like Gar/Pax remained, because Jerry doesn’t fire his preferred cronies, well since that one time in 1986 when he allowed Hawk to do the one right thing Hawk did as GM that year. -

That is a demotion. He is already Manager and co-GM, will want to be President, a title never bestowed to Kenny. He can also name an “interim” manager to do the grunt work, and continue to rack up managerial wins while sitting at home in Arizona. -
How will he survive?
-
Tony is insane and pray for rain.
-
Can the Cody Asche banner be salvaged? Cody has been hands down the most bountiful banner this season in terms of success and fan happiness.

Rick Hahn - Mastermind of Failure

That is by far the worst case scenario for Sox fans, and sadly the most likely scenario. If Tony remains in his current role, the daily travel / work til midnight grind will continue to break him down physically (he’s already gone mentally). While he may desire staying until he passes Connie Mack, it’s highly unlikely he can physically last beyond a few more years. Tony can survive in the FO beyond Jerry’s stepping down/passing, perhaps into the 2030s. The Sox would likely destroy the remaining fanbase irrevocably after several plus more years of sustaining this embarrassing debacle. -
I voted yes, but perhaps the question should be would he even want to come back after his 9th year of team failure, despite personal excellence. Abreu's current and any future salary is not the issue here. He is still a top performer on this team, and one of the few who will never let you down with lack of effort or gutting out injuries. Why gut one of the few players the fans love? I have to support Jerry on this one in terms of offering a reasonable deal ($s & 1-2 years) like he did Konerko after all he has given this franchise. The Sox need to attempt to keep the influx of 2022 season ticket holders signed in Aug-Oct of 2021 on the basis of coupling with 2021 playoff tickets. You need Abreu back unless he wants to hang up his cleats.
