You are correct. Natural casing / snap is gross for sausage or dogs. I pass on Vienna as well, stick with Superdawg (may have a grocery store version soon) and Costco (Kirkland to go?) at this point. RIP Leon’s Sausage Hot Dogs (served at Wally’s, Tastee Freeze and others - “Garden on a Bun” Style. https://m.facebook.com/groups/53045031755/ Can’t help with Calumet, but love the shrimp and fish chips at Frank’s with locations on the North and South Sides. https://frankschicagoshrimp.com/franks-shrimp-locations-chicago-il-irving-park-archer-burbank/ Signed by Hahn August 7th. I never worked at the HIP but hit Aladdin’s Castle, Rolling Stones and Jan’s Deli many times in the 1980s. My jobs were with Andy Frain (many locations include Sox and Cubs) and at the horse race tracks (Arlington, Sportsman’s, Hawthorne) in high school and college. I’m more picky about food than White Sox GMs, so have to say I stick with tried and true. I’ve had bad to terrible beefs over the years. Dipped with sweet and hot the best version for me. Italian Beef is only eaten in Chicago, zero percent chance I take a chance elsewhere without at least two quality trusted vouches which I’ve yet to receive.

Clevinger starts are icky both on and in Soxtalk game threads. Extended boycotting all Clevinger games (listening, watching highlights) to all games after the Getz hire. Zero hope remains for White Sox Baseball until a non Reinsdorf reign is Approved by MLB. Feel like I’m at the repast. “Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope of a fool than of him.” - Proverbs 26:12 “And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.” - Acts 27:20 “He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.” - Job 19:10

Mr. Beef on Orleans went downhill several years ago. Al's was never good for me. Portillo's was decent before they sold to the hedge fund, now beef shrinkage, I like their sweet and hot peppers best among all the local option's I've tried. Never tried Buona, though like that they sell Rainbow Cones there. Maybe I'll stop in and try it, but hard to skip over my favorites. Johnnies is solid among the ones mentioned. I like their Italian Ice the best, their beef and combos are solid as well. I probably eat more Caputo's at home on either Italian roles or with garlic bread and of course Marconi's Hot Giardiniera, which I put on my choices below as well. Mr. Beef's on Harlem (not connected to 666 Orleans) short of the HIP was a top three until they sold a couple years ago. No it's a hard pass. Best Beef for home: Jay's - Nagle (Ridgeland for South Side Peeps) and Montrose Best Beef dine in: Bob-O's - Irving Park a few blocks east of Cumberland (First Ave for South Side Peeps) -Best fries among the choices. Best Combo: Johnnie's - North Ave. and 75th Str Best Grocery Option: Caputo's (Sold to go deli - it's not frozen). Best South Side: Scatchell's - Cermak & 47th. Though bring your own peppers (don't like depression style celery + crushed red peppers). Italian Beef Supercut!!!!

My brother likes his reviews and I've watched a few from Vegas and Chicago. I enjoy seeing a pizza before ordering, and enjoyed the two area reviews. His said his favorite non cheese slices for "off camera" are peppers, onions and mushrooms. Prefers pepperoni over sausage, so I find that a bit suspect, at least as a Chicagoan. I prefer no pizza over pepperoni, though realize Chicago is an exception in terms of more sausage sold over pepperoni. The above was discussed within the first two minutes below - politics, the feud and such are after so people can skip over if they like. My Top Two Chicago and Vegas Pizzas are: Chicago: La Villa (Pulaski & Grace) and Dino's (Higgins near Sayre). RIP Tony and Lill's and Father & Sons. Las Vegas: Amore Taste of Chicago (West Valley) and Pizza Rock (Downtown).

They were 6th in bWAR and I hate Minnesota, so more of my personal bias but yes, I can buy an argument for them being mentioned. They had the fourth best record in MLB; Houston was 107-55, New York 103-59 and Los Angeles 106-56. Minnesota was a bigger WS Championship Underdog than just about any other 100 + win team heading into the playoffs in MLB history. The sad AL Central had a greater tanking stench then usual (Detroit 47-114; KC 59-103 & Sox 72-90).

Are the 2023 White Sox the worst Sox team you've ever seen?
It's the worst in the Reinsdorf era, IMO. An infant and not cognizant of 1970, limited remembrance of the 1976 season. MLB Standing and bWAR Rankings across MLB (1969-2023) 1970 - Worst Record (56-106) and worst bWAR Rank (-22.5). 1976 - Second Worst Record (64-97) and second worst bWAR Rank (-13.7). 2023 - Fourth Worst Record (54-86) and fourth worst bWAR Rank (-17.3) YTD. 2018 - Third Worst Record (62-100) and fifth worst bWAR Rank (-17.3). 2013 - Third Worst Record (63-99) and sixth worst bWAR Rank (-11.2).

It has been a minute, but I consider these six teams as legitimate WS contenders based on the current playoff rules. The actual World Series winner (Kansas City) is arguably the weakest of the six. 2006 Detroit (95-67 - 5th highest Team bWAR) - Lost World Series 4-1 vs. Saint Louis. 2007 Cleveland (96-66 - 4th highest Team bWAR) - Lost Game 7 of ALCS to WS Winner Boston (WS Sweep) 2013 Detroit (93-69 - 2nd highest Team bWAR) - Lost ALCS 4-2 to WS Winner Boston 2015 Kansas City Royals (95-67 - 7th highest Team bWAR) - Won World Series 2016 Cleveland (94-67 - 5th highest Team bWAR) - Lost Game 7 of the World Series 2017 Cleveland (102-60 -1st in Team bWAR) - Lost ALDS 3-2

Kopech to the bullpen, Urena starting Saturday.
Has either site or another writer quantified as to the major differences between the two WAR calculation methods? Would be interesting, but it seems as the Baseball Reference is more middle of the road and Fangraphs has a wide variance considering the entire season. To me the bWAR looks more realistic for most. How are Lance Lynn and Aaron Bummer positive pitchers? How is Cease nearly a 3 win pitcher? Current / Ex White Sox 2023 YTD bWAR (b) / fWAR (f) (includes all 2023 for players traded. players with a +/- 1.0 or greater difference listed below): 1.9 Lance Lynn b -1.4 vs. f 0.5 1.7 Aaron Bummer b -1.0 vs. f 0.7 1.7 Dylan Cease b 1.0 vs. f 2.7 1.7 Michael Kopech b 0.9 vs. f -0.8 1.2 Tim Anderson b -1.8 vs. f -0.6

HRI is very good, but I typically pick up V & N II, which is probably not available in Florida. Its associated with the one in Hickory Hills, not the Chicago one on Pulaski. I like the sauce on these the best, crust is good, cheese & toppings meh but works in a pinch. https://vitoandnicksiifrozenpizza.com

Tale of the Tape: Ownership: Both Suck. Chris Illitch brought payroll from Top 5 (2012-2017) under father to Bottom 10-12 ($197M 2017; $80M-$135M since). Jerry is worse, but hopefully Jerry’s tenure is shorter and his children do not take over. Front Office: Detroit. Scott Harris hired in 2022 from San Francisco. Jerry hired the guy he likes to watch games with, has no credentials or experience. All stated knowledge comes from sitting with Pedro and running a failed player development program. Manager: Detroit. Reinsdorf blocked Hinch, hired DUI guy. Keeping Pedro Grifol because cheap and baseball stupid. Team: Detroit. Detroit holds a 9 1/2 game lead in the standings, 4-6 lead in the season series. Sox need a series sweep to win the season series. Pizza: Chicago! Tavern Cut > Detroit Style Anywhere > Little Caesars White Sox Season Series Won or Possible Series Wins: (Remaining Games, Required Minimal Record) Arizona 0-0 (3 home 2-1) Atlanta 2-1 Boston 2-1 (3 away 2-1) Cincinnati 2-1 Cleveland 8-5 Detroit 4-6 (3 away 3-0) Kansas City 5-5 (3 home 2-1) Minnesota 3-6 (4 home 4-0) New York Yankees 4-2 San Diego 0-0 (3 home 2-1) Washington 0-0 (3 away 2-1)

One owner hires quality baseball executives based on industry qualifications, gives them an annual budget, and lets them spend how they, as professionals, see fit. The other is Constanza, does the complete opposite, yet acts as though he is superior and his 29 fellow owners are rubes. Jerry knows more Brooklyn Dodgers than he does White Sox, but sadly he won't implement Branch Rickey's saying he made famous on the South Side "Luck is the residue of design." (OG quote by John Milton).

This is not accurate for a good portion of the general public, which both teams are trying to reach. I agree most avid fans including fans involved enough to be on a message board pick one or the other exclusive over the other Chicago team and 28 other teams. I liked both teams as a child, had family members in both camps, went to games at both parks. Shifted 100% Sox in 1977 after taking s%*# from my mostly NW side Cub fan friends and classmates. If I lived in the Suburbs or other City area with more of a mix, I still may have wanted both to win, but Sox primary. The money grab drunken douchebag filled interleague games, and society in general has become more coarse over the past 45 years leading to greater hatred. Never wanted the Cubs to win the WS, but once they did could give a rats ass what they do unless the Sox meet them in the WS again. Hopefully Jerry and Manfred won't f*** that up by obliterating the 120 year American League / National League setup with yet another money grab to have more douchebag drunken Sox vs. Cubs games on the schedule. It's already four games too many. Jerry and most MLB owners run the sport like tobacco company executives. Drain your core fans until they die, don't invest amount in growing fans, screw fans over every chance possible. The city and attendance was basically 50/50 until Jerry bought the team, alienated a good portion Chicagoans with PPV and threatening to move, and now the town is 2/3 vs. 1/3 Cubs. The Cubs didn't do much beyond air games on WGN and not be total assholes, but that was enough to claim 20% more fans here over Jerry's 43 years. A decent human being with marketing sense could reverse this trend, but it's going to take a generation of solid effort to bring the split closer to 50/50. No Reinsdorf has it in them to accomplish this. The team needs a Reinsdorf Family Enema cleansing of the ownership box with a new forward thinking owner to reset the overall fan experience and to bring a legitimate contending team on the field fans can support. Air a solid number of games on free TV (English / Spanish) to reverse further erosion of fan interest and instead grow fan interest in the White Sox specifically, and baseball in general. Market tickets in schools like Veeck did, many free ticket options for perfect attendance and A/B grades. Accept cash at the ticket and concession booths, and don't look like WalMart or Target with your 99 cent pricing as if a hot dog was as much of a decision as a car.

Having two executives oversee Baseball Operations demonstrates the complexity involved in managing several different baseball operation areas, and in most instances owner commitment to adequately funding executive management, organizational infrastructure and on field product (A. Jerry actually caring about his on field legacy success would result in hiring the best qualified and experienced people with proven track records of success. A feasible alternative would be someone with proven success as a number 2 or 3 in a sustained exceptional front office. Jerry continues to hire the least qualified, least experienced, least expensive people hoping he can sell September carrots at some point before he passes. Jerry is smarter than his 29 "competitors", really just needs someone to execute the paperwork on his brilliant decisions and philosophy or not paying free agents, not paying scouts, not paying analysts, not paying for player development, selling international slot money, This is Jerry's legacy, plus destroying the 1994 season in his epic failure to break the MLBPA. “Everybody talks about when you build a building, the foundation comes first,” he added. “We’ve got a foundation here. We’re not going to take the guys that we have now and clean out and start over again. We’re definitely not going to do that.” - Jerry Reinsdorf - August 31, 2023 - Another day which will live in White Sox Infamy.

Chris Getz and Pedro Grifol will be here in 2024 as long as Jerry is owner not because they have any qualifications or arguments to remain in their current positions, or even to have been hired in the first place. Chris Getz and Pedro Grifol will return for one primary reason. People Jerry has to pay: (EVP & SVPs/GMs + Managers) * 2021 - Two Managers (RR & TLR) 2023 - Two Managers (TLR & PG) & Two SVPs/GMs (RH & CG) 2024 - Two SVPs/GMs (RH & CG) # Note * - Includes pro-rated replacements + permanent hires. Does not include the EVP position, not because it’s not needed if filled by a competent baseball person, but not filled because Jerry is Cheap & Baseball Stupid. Note # - Could change if RH gets a job for the 2024 season.

Let's all remember this, the first of the decision in the Chris Getz Era. White Sox now 0-5 since Chris Getz spoke to the clubhouse, and is 4-10 since Hahn was fired and he became interim GM on August 22, 2023. The White Sox under Jerry Reinsdorf have a record of 1-42 in terms of seasons they have advanced in the playoffs (This is his 43rd season as owner, despite what the banner says), including the season Jerry preferred tossing a White Sox World Series appearance in the trash "to break the union". Really hope Cincinnati advances this season to put the Sox 29th among existing teams over the past 43 years, and that Pittsburgh somehow advances in the future before Jerry's tenure is up, placing his White Sox in dead last. # of Seasons Teams Have Advanced in the Playoffs (1981-1993 & 1995-2022) 1994 = F*** You Jerry World Series Championship Season(s) & League Pennant Season(s) (Expansion-Relocation Seasons) 16 New York Yankees 1981 1996 1998 1999 2000 2001 2003 2009 14 Saint Louis Cardinals 1982 1985 1987 2004 2006 2011 2013 10 Los Angeles Dodgers 1981 1988 2017 2018 2020 10 Atlanta 1991 1992 1995 1996 1999 2021 9 Boston Red Sox 1986 2004 2007 2013 2018 9 Houston Astros 2005 2017 2019 2021 2022 6 San Francisco Giants 1989 2002 2010 2012 2014 6 Philadelphia Phillies 1983 1993 2008 2009 2022 6 Oakland Athletics 1988 1989 1990 6 Cleveland Guardians 1995 1997 2016 5 New York Mets 1986 2000 2015 5 Detroit Tigers 1984 2006 2012 5 Baltimore Orioles 1983 4 Toronto Blue Jays 1992 1993 4 Chicago Cubs 2016 4 Tampa Bay Rays 2008 2020 (1998-2022) 4 San Diego Padres 1984 1998 4 Seattle Mariners 3 Kansas City Royals 1985 2014 2015 3 Miami Marlins 1997 2003 (1993-2022) 3 Minnesota Twins 1987 1991 3 Anaheim Angels 2002 3 Arizona Diamondbacks 2001 (1998-2022) 3 Milwaukee Brewers 1982 2 Texas Rangers 2010 2011 2 Colorado Rockies 2007 (1993-2022) 1 Washington Nationals 2019 (2005-2022) 1 Chicago White Sox 2005 1 Cincinnati Reds 1990 1 Montreal Expos (1981-2004) 1 Pittsburgh Pirates #FireJerryReinsdorf #FireBrooksBoyer #FireChrisGetz #FirePedroGrifol

Tony La Russa got revenge and the last laugh on Kenny and Rick. Chris just wanted a promotion. Seems like he could be a nice person, but he is out of his element, and that was before he started answering questions.
