  2. Gonna need to call up more guys now.
  3. You can argue about whether or not this trade will pan out, but on paper this was a very good haul for 2 months each of a SP and RP.
  4. Zach Martin unhappy in Dallas. Bears have the cap space to pay him and the draft picks to make a trade. Get it done.
  5. I watch very little scripted TV but I do miss the late night shows.
  6. Central defense the weakest spot on the roster right now.
  7. No thanks to Qatar for fucking up the calendar and forcing the NL final so close to the Gold Cup. Would have been nice to see everybody's best.
  8. The US better have its best players healthy in 2026 because their 2nd string is weak. Took PKs to beat Canada and then lost to Panama in PKs, which honestly saved them from a beatdown by Mexico in the final.
  9. The economics of baseball was different back then. It was easier to build a winning team without taking risks on the kinds of big contracts that Jerry will never approve of. As bad as I think Hahn is, I think the Sox with Hahn but a new owner are better off than the Sox with Jerry but a new GM, but of course the best option is if both are gone.
  10. I will repeat - there is no point in replacing Hahn until there is someone different picking his replacement.
  11. I wouldn't release Grandal if he can't be traded. It's not like he's blocking some super catching prospect.
  12. Benintendi 7 Remillard 6 Robert 8 Vaughn 3 Moncada 5 Burger DH Colas 9 Zavala 2 Sosa 4
  13. Drafting SS, CF, P, C are always great moves because those positions are always in high demand. If you end up with a backlog at those positions, you can get good value in a trade (or in the case of SS or CF, move to another position). If you end up with a backlog of 1B/DH, it's harder to fix that, as we are seeing on full display right now.
  14. Trade no matter what. Eat as much money as necessary to get the best return: Grandal, Giolito, Lopez, Andrus, Middleton, Anderson, Kelly. Trade only if you get a really good return and don't have to eat salary: Lynn, Hendriks, Clevinger, Jimenez Build around: Cease, Kopech, Robert, Moncada, Colas, Vaughn
  15. They should all be regularly practicing bunting, and we've seen many times what leaving the bat in their hands has produced.
  16. Bunting greatly decreases the expected number of runs for the inning, BUT bunting a runner from 2nd to 3rd with 0 outs greatly increases your chances of scoring one run in the inning, so a tie game in the bottom of 9th or extras is an exception to the rule.
  17. He died, right? Can't think of any other reason Bummer gets the 11th instead of him.
  18. 100% of the time. Doesn't matter who's batting. Bunt the runner to 3rd. Put pressure on the defense.
  19. No other motorsports threads so I'll leave this here: The #77 White Sox Chevy was one of the slowest in qualifying for tomorrow's race around Grant Park. Must be sponsored by Grandal. On a serious note, I looked into tickets and the cheapest seats were $450. We pay $130 each for our Indy 500 seats and those are really good seats.
  20. TA finally out of the leadoff spot, but how much longer does he stay in the #2 slot? He has a worse wRC+ than everybody except Zavala. You could argue both Elvis and Remillard should play over him, but at least he should be batting 8th-9th when he does play. He's provided essentially no value to this team this year. Maybe demoting him will wake up some other guys.
  21. When you factor in defensive value, Robert doesn't have to be nearly as good a hitter at those two in order to be more valuable.
  22. Maybe, but the data suggests that a team being that successful with an OBP that low is an anomaly, and not something you can really count on. It seems like the Sox have spent the last 18 years trying to recreate a team that was in many respects fluky in their ability to both score and prevent runs given the underlying metrics.
