Maybe the Angels will take Erstad back. There must be some Rowand-like love for Erstad back in Cali.
-
I don't know why people who want us to lose to acquire top draft picks aren't as insistent that the White Sox sign guys like Dice K who can contribute immediately or make trades that actually can help the team. Or acquire guys like Soriano instead of Erstad. Reinsdorf is making money, people. If he can't pay the freight, he should sell the team to Cuban.

Here's why I brought it up. Double standard. And yes, Ozzie is as good as Pineilla. He won a WS title two seasons ago. I love Oz.

We F****** SUCK:part deux Game One in Cleveland

Myers is an embarrassment. He's old and a submarine lefty. Total meat provider. I pray he's not on the team next year. -
I appreciate this post, Kalapse. It was a good read and educational. I understand your position. I can't understand why you guys can't understand mine. The draft is a crapshoot in baseball. While everybody knew Dice K would be a great contributor (the Sox are too cheap to do anything like the Red Sox did) the chances any top 10 pick will ultimately be better than the No. 1 pick (if Boras is the agent we don't sign the kid anyway) are not great. Why can't you understand that baseball season is magical for many. I enjoy watching the White Sox and watching them win. I hate when they lose. I am embarrassed by this piece of s*** team on the field today. Wanting them to lose every game so they can get this phantom player who MAY OR MAY NOT contribute in 4 years is asinine to me. Oh well, those of you who want to mock my position go ahead. Why you want to write off a month of baseball and make it a miserable month is beyond me.

Piniella did the same thing earlier this year. Read today's Trib online.
-
Amen . His columns have no shock value because his whole schtick is to call for manager's to be fired (he wanted Lou to quit earlier this season as you recall or maybe you don't recall; yes he did). His repertoire of columns: Bench Rex. Fire the GM (of Bears, Sox, Bulls, Cubs). Play Griese. Bench Rex. Play Orton. Bench Rex. Fire Ozzie. Bench Rex. Fire Lou. Fire Williams. Get Rid of Harrelson. He should be fired for writing the same Ozzie column so many times. The best article was in the Trib in which Ozzie points out that Piniella also ripped his Cub players this year and asked for some better players. And Lou was not lambasted for this. Ozzie is not the problem. Ozzie is awesome! How anybody could subscribe to the Sun Times with Mariotti writing for it is amazing to me. At least it's free on the Internet.

Yeah I understand I want to win every night and if we get the sixth pick it's just as likely he's as good as the No. 2 or 3 pick.

Rogers: Basically, Ozzie is trying to get fired on purpose...
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
One note: Rogers did say in the column he did not think Ozzie was trying to get himself fired but would not blame him if that was the case. I see Rome today said no way Ozzie would be back after throwing the players under the bus. I tend to think this explosion by Ozzie wasn't as bad as Rome suggests. I don't think rich ballplayers, many who tend to be assholes themselves, go to work tonight and say, "I will never play hard for that prick Ozzie again after what he said." I mean the young players are too young to have an opinion like (many of them will flop and not be around anyway) and the older players know Ozzie is Ozzie. I think it's a non issue. The players should be embarrassed at their performance. -
I don't mean to be a jerk, but why are these the most important standings at this point? Do people actually agree with Kalapse on this? Have you no pride in the White Sox? Do you actually think getting the top draft pick will help the team significantly compared to what ever first round pick we get? My god.

I guess it's good to get Fields time in left right now in Major League conditions like you say, Kalapse, but at least have some option at third base that isn't an automatic out and terrible fielder. I guess losing 9 of 10 games just rubs me the wrong way.
-
I'd want Crede to play third and Fields to play left after playing it in winter league ball and spring training.
-
I guess, but why then did Oz lose it last night. Why is anybody sweating it at all. Everybody should be all happy if this is just some open tryout. I don't understand what all true Sox fans aren't incensed and embarrassed.
-
If this is KW's master plan, then neither does he. It is embarrassing to do what they are doing with Fields in left and the hack at third. It is ridiculous, embarrassing as loss after loss pile up. Why not just go all the way and have tryouts with young guys at every position this final month? Why are they pitching Garland, Mark B, Vazzy, we know what they can do. Sit them and bring up all prospects and let them also lose games. I understand what you are saying. I just don't think a team that won the WS two years ago should be a disgrace and this team is a disgrace partly because so many automatic outs are in the lineup.
-
Patience is one thing. Richar is overmatched right now. I still like Aaron Guiel. At least he played with passion.
-
Name one team in baseball that uses 2 months as a tryout for next year or the future. It's a ridiculous philosophy. You play the best players to win. In the offseason if you are a good organization or a bad organization that gets lucky, you acquire some free agents (like Soriano, not Erstad; I hate to compare us to the Cubs). A 2 month tryout is an insult to Sox fans who might want to spend a nice night at the park and try to win a few games or watch some games on TV and not have to puke because Fields is getting a tryout in left and some hack is at third. And some prospect like Richar is making outs at a ridiculous rate.
-
Because Kalapse, for whatever reason, I like to win games. It's baseball season and I like when the Sox win. I hate when they lose. I hate it more when they are the laughingstock of baseball. I don't give a s*** about draft picks. I just don't.
-
That game was horrible. AJ, Dye, what horses*** hitters this year. Owens and Richar, I fear, are not the answer. Big big changes this offseason, should be really wild.
-
I give a s*** about Iguchi when his replacement can't hit any better than Bee Bee Richard.
-
Nice job offense, six hits. Good job. Nice hitting, Dye and AJ and Owens and the hitless wonder, Bee Bee Richar.
-
I still can't root for the White Sox to lose. I don't care about draft picks. There are no guarantees and losing SUCKS.
-
Maybe the Sox should have a promotion and pick fans from the stands to play third base each inning the rest of the year. A lot of fans would get to play MLB and think of all the relatives who would buy tickets and they couldn't do worse than this hack we have at third the rest of September. --Sammy Sosa loves playing against the Sox. Wait, every ex Sox loves playing against the Sox. Bombs away.
-
The White Sox need to go overseas and get a Dice K type if they are serious about winning. Also sign free agents galore. The draft is a crapshoot.
-
I love Ozzie. BTW the people who think getting a top draft pick assures us getting a top player are sadly mistaken. Baseball isn't like football especially if we draft a ... gulp, pitcher.
-
Iguchi has been fabulous for the Phillies. So has Rowand. The Season From Hell continues. Comparing Iguchi to Richar is like comparing Anna Kournikova to Kathy Griffin.
