  1. We'll have our chances with 12 or 13 games left to play against 'em including four in KC I believe to pretty much conclude the season.
  2. I've heard this before when we make trades. And as far as capturing the city, let's see if our attendance stays high. I want to see one of KW's trades work out before I get excited. I mean from what everybody says, Everett can't field the ball and he's our cf?? If we can't overtake the Royals, I consider this a flop of a season. Look at the Royals roster compared to the Sox and tell me why they are 2 1/2 up on us?
  3. Summarize the book of Eccles. for me, though I do like the Bible as a good former Southside resident who remains Catholic.
  4. That at bat was so incredible it's scary. He's had a lot of big hits, but I wonder if he'd call that one of his most memorable at bats ever. I know the game wasn't for a pennant or anything, but that was a major at bat for a guy in his home ballpark.

We need to tread water and keep winning because the Royals are going to win four straight against Detroit. The Tigers are sooo bad. I watched some of tonight's game and KC played just bad enough to beat those stiffs from Motown. The Royals are gonna win all four.
  6. OK, the Mets are dumping salary. The Rangers want to dump all salary. Several teams in the past few seasons have dumped salary and many more are talking about dumping salary. The Sox have acquired a pair of players who they won't have to pay much money to and have no intention of taking on a lot of salary. My question is ... why do baseball teams get themselves in this position time and again?? They have overpaid ballplayers for years and except for the Yankees, seemingly see the error of their ways and ultimately get rid of salary. Why have baseball teams overpaid for players, forced the skyrocketing of ticket prices and parking lot prices and concession prices when 85 percent of the time the teams with high payrolls ultimately have forced firesales???? (Cleveland, Texas, Mets, etc.). Is it all because of George Steinbrenner??? Is he the reason for this financial absurdity in baseball?? Again ... all you hear about is teams wanting to dump salary. So why did they overpay to begin with and ruin this great sport of ours?????
  7. With this list of players, we could have gotten Beltran. You knew Hart was going to get a top list of players to choose from.
  8. I like the fact we were down 4-0 in a game that we could have quit early and still took 2 of 3. We came back and then the guys picked up for Maggs who hit into that DP. I just saw the highlights on ESPN. That wasn't a bad play by Guzman on the DP of Maggs. I got to hear Hawk in the background on the ESPN highlights. He went wild. Frank's homer was so high, it was majestic. What a blast. Some of you have gotten to see some great games in person of late. Hope you've had a riot at the ballpark.
  9. Jimenez must really be a piece of work. To come with his reputation and to continue to apparently be a cancer when he's really done nothing in his career is mind-boggling. I wonder who pulled the plug on him. KW or JM? Like many have said no matter what happens with the trades we get D'Angelo out of there.
  10. whitesox said: " Wow, what this win must have felt like to the newbies. This should definately wake them up and show them what this team is all about. Pretty memory first game in a new uniform if you ask me. " I was thinking the same thing. And frankly it was nice two of the veteran Sox - paulie and frank - were the final heroes. Alomar and Everett can be heroes tomorrow or the next day.
  11. Roman must be screaming so loud it's scaring the neighbors. Congrats Roman and Big Frank.
  12. I'd give anything to hear Hawk and DJ's call and commentary on both Paul's and Frank's blasts. Must be priceless.
  13. You've got to be s***ting me. We win. Are you telling me Frank had a 10 pitch at bat and hit the hr? He's got to be on Cloud Nine. What an at bat! Kudos to Konerko. Listen to Jim Rome tomorrow cause it'll be all about Paulie.
  14. What a weird game.
  15. Give the credit to Jim Rome; he gave Konerka the karma the other day. Congrats Paulie. Win it in 12 baby.
  16. I'm talking about Maggs failing in the clutch. I'd think fans would be shocked he would not be able to hit a medium deep fly ball to win the game. I don't care if he leads the league in dps all the time. He's a clutch player. That's where the shock comes in.
  17. The fans had to be stunned when Maggs did that. Maggis is da man normally.
  18. Another tough loss barring a miracle. We can't seem to sweep anybody. It's impossible to believe Maggs hit into the dp.
  19. Who'd have thunk Maggs couldn't win it right there? We had the game. I don't like our chances now with Botch comin in, do you?
  20. KW

I think KW is an idiot. Let's hope this trade works out. Kenny Lofton didn't do squat as a veteran presence. Ritchie, Royce C. Let's hope this one works out and these guys hit. But you gotta wait and see. Alomar's batting average sucks this season!!! And Everett is not a guaranteed stud. Let's wait and see again.
  21. Dont call it one of the greatest days in Sox history yet. While Everett and Alomar could excel, they also could suck. I do hope they excel and we win the pennant.
  22. It's strange to give them a list to pick from. Why didn't we just offer a trade? This isn't done often, is it?
  23. Sure it's a concern. If he fights with Greg Walker it could hurt the progress we've made recently with guys like Rowand, but I'm stretching worrying about that. Another worrywart would say we've been winning of late and this could kill the momentum. But we still haven't been hitting even though we've been winning.
  24. Looks like D'Angelo's attitude may really HAVE been bad. Seems like since he started making those one handed catches on double plays, Manuel got pissed. I saw him do it once on TV and it worked. The second time I saw he dropped it and Manuel was peeved. Has he been doing that a lot, or just those 2 times?

Folks I'm glad we are trying to win the pennant, but you know the Rangers are going to get some prime minor leaguers. KW is not giving up stiffs. Do you think we've become a team like the Yankees that is going to be acquiring most of our starters from other teams in the future? Cause I can guarantee you the Rangers are getting Rauch or Cotts and we will have given up some prime talent today.
