  1. Tony by the way should have convinced Abreu to sit out after that collision. Sounds like his ankle is screwed up. Hope he didn't rush back too soon and is now screwed cause of it.
  2. I still haven't seen anybody describe what the proper etiquette is. What was the outcome of Mercedes' at bat that would have satisfied the unwritten rulebook? Nobody has said if a basehit or HR on 3-and-1 count woulda been OK.
  3. I have a question. Is the problem re. unwritten rules that Yermin hit it out of the park on a 3-0 pitch? If it's 3-1 is it OK to hit it out? I was just wondering what the hitter is supposed to do according to the unwritten rules. Does anybody know? I'd think drawing a walk would be against the unwritten rules. Pretty lame to not just swing at everything, right? Are you supposed to strike out? Act like a clown and just take wild swings? Maybe that's what the next player batting against a position player should do. Make a mockery of the game and just swing as soon as the pitcher releases the ball or swing after the catcher actually catches it. This gets me more mad the more I think about it. Am I correctly assuming it's OK to bash the 3-1 pitch out of the park but not 3-0 when a position player is in? Frickin absurd. I hope the Sox throw at the Twins tomorrow. Somebody has to be hit in retaliation for this b.s. I'd plunk the guy who hit 3 homers tonight. Why not?
  4. I would love that. ESPN 30 for 30 should do an entire show on Ozzie. I know most of the country wouldn't care to watch, but it could be so well done that it'd be interesting for all. He had Chicago in his hip pocket, coulda probably been manager forever and unofficial Mayor of Rush Street but his ego/mouth whatever u want to call it, ruined his managerial career. I'm glad he's been in the studio for some time now. I don't get the show here. I bet he's entertaining. I've always had trouble understanding him listening to interviews, though, when he starts talking fast.
  5. I made my comment on Tony in the Tony manager thread. Very disappointing the way Tony handled this whole thing with Yermin. Tony should apologize or step down. Sad state of affairs in condoning the Twins bullying the Sox around throwing at Yermin.
  6. I'm a Tony lover but admit this whole thing angers me greatly. Tony cost us the game tonight by not backing Yermin. His comments were a disgrace. So the big, bad Twins throw at Yermin and coincidentally that's the point of the game the Sox folded. It sure looks like Minnie bullied the Sox into that win. It fired up Minnesota and Sox, albeit weakened without Jose, folded. Bad move by Tony in not backing Yermin 100 percent. Tony should have said what Lynn did. People are speaking out against the unwritten rules. Hell, that Tatis commercial we have to watch over and over says to deal with his breaking the unwritten rules. Tony should apologize or be let go over this. Sad stuff.
  7. I was just thinking. The unwritten rules people woulda been happy (sarcasm) if instead of taking an uppercut and homering Yermin hit a shot right up the middle at the pitcher's head. He could kill the fake pitcher without a screen up. BTW what is the hitter supposed to do according to the unwritten rules? Take a walk? Isn't that bush league? Strike out on purpose? Bunt? I really don't know what the hitter is supposed to do up 15-4 with a catcher pitching. Does baseball really want hitters to merely smash singles off mop up position players? or strike out?
  8. Great win. I'm so sick of the unwritten rules. I watched the replay. Look I'm glad Yermin tattooed a homer on a 3-0 pitch up by so many runs off a position player. Don't put in a position player and have him lob it in there. If the Twins want to clear the benches and fight, go ahead. Somebody could get hurt in tomorrow's bench clearing brawl over this??? I hope the commish suspends players a long time if they fight tomorrow. It's silly. Don't lob it in there if you don't want it hit a mile. I'm sure they'll hit Timmy leading off the game tomorrow and/or hit Mercedes. Should be automatic ejection with warnings issued before the game. Stupid unwritten rules. p.s. Baseball hitters only try to hit home runs now. It's HR or K. So Mercedes got the HR. We're going to fight over that? Should he have tried to strike out??
  9. There are people like me who watch FOX News who have gotten the vaccine (me, two shots) and mask up (me). ... It's not good to pat yourself on the back on here, but say what u want about Greg, I like to be EDUCATED. For instance, I listen to Stern every day in the car and Howard is VERY VERY liberal and very much into masks/lockdowns, etc. I don't despise Howard for it. I enjoy listening to all points of view. I do. True I can't take The View anymore and can't take Cuomo's show or Lemon's anymore (just as many of you can't take Hannity or Tucker or the late Rush), but as I told everybody I at least call up the Fox News website AND CNN website every single day a few times a day to see the two different takes on the news. I find the differences remarkable and entertaining. One of our problems in USA in my opinion is so many people REFUSE to consider discussing the other side of the fence. There are intelligent people who also are conservative. I know we can't get along in America anymore, that's long passed, but some of us think that's a BAD thing. I recommend the vaccine.
  10. Yeah I forgot about the breathing issue with the mask. I ended up pulling it down when applicable to get some good ol fashioned gasps of air. ... I wasn't necessarily advocating for masks during flu season, just thinking out loud that since flu has not been discussed it might be popular in the future to mask up. I have done my part in telling a lot of people I had no symptoms after either vaccine shot (knock on wood) and stress NO SYMPTOMS. I am a fan of herd immunity thru vaccination.
  11. If the flu has reduced this much I'm surprised nobody has suggested masks during flu season and social distancing cause the flu is a killer as well. I know a woman who died of the flu after getting dehydrated (a couple years ago) leaving 2 young kids. So fricking sad.
  12. Comeback time. ... Have I ever mentioned I hate the division-weighted schedule? Playing KC 19 times is ridiculous. Teams know each other so well.
  13. Most of the Karens have been scared to death by the "experts" the past 13 months. Now that the experts are saying it's OK to discard the masks and the masks are 100 percent not needed if u are vaccinated, the Karens for some reason have become the experts. They don't want to shed the masks. I know COVID is really bad; I get it. But this all has been handled so poorly. If you are vaxxed you don't need a mask, period. ... Out of all my shake my head in disgust moments during COVID, I'd like to know what the hell happened to the flu bug. Is it gone forever? Were there literally no flu cases/deaths this past winter? Makes u wonder if we've had weird viruses for years now since the flu apparently has been taken care of. Never a word about a case of flu anymore.
  14. That's pretty special. Surely Jose had a headache after the play. Wonder how he feels today. Fierce hit with no padding like in football.
  15. I trust Stone knows what he's saying in terms of assessing effort. He is among the best analysts in baseball. I would like an explanation from Stoney regarding your point. Moncada OBVIOUSLY is extremely into the game when playing defense. Man, he's ready for those rockets hit at him at 3B. He's right on almost every smash to his left or right. I dunno how he is on slow rollers (I haven't noticed as much yet), but I've been amazed at his "alertness" and "reflexes" at the hot corner. I would assume to make those plays you have to be "into the game."
  16. Stoney should be careful. This all could be COVID related re. Yoan. Otherwise, I credit Stone for voicing an opinion. Most announcers would be fired immediately for calling out a player's effort. The teams have right of refusal on announcers I believe.
  17. Actually Douglas County Ks is probably the most conservative county in the country regarding being "safe" regarding COVID so I am to assume the mask mandate will be kept intact here at least through the summer. Heck, our library still won't let people in there for more than 15 minutes at a time. I have two go-to coffee shops that let you sit in there but most coffee shops/fast food/Starbucks/Duncan Donuts type places only have drive through and my church still is socially distanced seating with limits on total capacity for a Mass/wedding/funeral.
  18. I have three masks in my car as backups. ... I don't want to walk back to my car when I learn the store or church is requiring the mask.
  19. I like hearing about these everyday people in the stands rather than the talking heads on cable TV and those with political agendas. I can see the average Southsider enjoying a brew and dog at a ballgame doing just what yu suggested, laughing. Everyday people rule as far as I'm concerned. ... Let's get 'em in Game Two. Sucks to lose to KC for sure.
  20. I wish we had a cry emoji in that case. Sad sad baseball accident.
  21. It's like the fiercest hit you'll ever see in football with no pads on. Hopefully the bodies just got rattled beyond belief and nothing got broken. Very very sad that Dozier had his head down. PTATC ... Best case scenario is nothing broken and he misses a week or two? and I pray his head is OK, too.
  22. Good stuff! Thank u. Masks soon are a thing of the past (except in packed indoor places which is going to be an annoying exception).
  23. You know what is going to be a hassle? Having to bring your mask just in case the store or church or game you are at will still require masks. I think it's dirty, unsanitary to stuff mine in my pocket so I like to wear it around my neck and pull it up when it's time. It's going to be annoying to carry it around "just in case" this store or restaurant or library or church still requires masking (I know this is all minor, but we entitled Americans have a lot of pet peeves and this could be one).
  24. i respect your position. Here's mine. No guilt at all in shedding the mask. We have been told to follow science this whole pandemic. Science says if you are fully vaccinated to take off the mask. Time to take it off. Everybody is saying the fully vaccinated should take off their masks. Time to go back to normal. Each local community's "leaders" who were so power hungry and public in their comments during the early portion of the pandemic should be just as forceful now. Open things up and tell people if they are vaccinated to take off the damn mask. Biden says so. Science says so. p.s. People should encourage their neighbors to get the shots. Those who have no symptoms from the shots like me should spread the word that horrific symptoms are really rare, really rare, just like they are with the flu vaccine, any vaccine. If those people get the shot that only leaves the group that thinks this is a big conspiracy and won't get the shot no matter what. There is a group of people who won't get the shots cause they are merely afraid of symptoms now and down the line from the vaccine. They can be reasoned with with kindness and logic.
  25. What about moderna, greg's choice. Man I must be close to immune cause I got my second shot a week ago. Hope all our restaurants open up soon.
