Covey ... a true bright spot. Hope he keeps it up. He's quite a story. Good job tonight Mr. Covey.
  2. You got wood bats in MLB. This guy obviously doesn't elevate. If he tries to hit home runs he'll have to reinvent himself.
  3. The guy has three home runs. It's silly to talk about him blasting 15-20 a season in MLB. That's fine. Not everybody has to mash home runs. But it's dumb to project home runs when he can't hit them with college bats.
  4. Not elite? You are going to be disappointed when most of our prospects don't produce as much as Abreu.
  5. Can anybody see the ball go in the cup? She said it bounced from behind her. I can't see it go in the cup but I cannot understand how it didn't splash?? The beer was almost full, more than 3/4 full. First I thought it was a fake but then I see the fans around her going wild so it must have happened. How no splash?
  6. Today I was checking out at Hi Vee and a transgendered person was the cashier. The two people before me were mean to the cashier. I was exceedingly friendly without making it obvious I knew she was a guy. You guys blast me for intolerance but I am more tolerant than 95 percent of people in such situations. Most stare and say stupid things.
  7. The eye test tells us all we need to kno about Thompson. Poor guy is finished. No more chances.
  8. I love you el rockin but hammies are tough; he might be hurt all season. All that starting and stopping. Maybe ptatc can fill us in. Avi had reverted back to crap before he was hurt. I worship Avi and if the injury affected him prior to the DL, my bad, but I'm concerned he was a one-year wonder. It's his fault basically. He has all the talent in the world.
  9. Abreu's defense may stink, but we're used to it at least. Why do people think Davidson will be a better defender at first than Jose? There's absolutely no reason to think that.
  10. Yeah, poor Trayce is done as a big leaguer. Independent league is coming soon. I'm afraid Tilson looks like he can't hit either. Engel is likely another guy headed to independent league baseball pretty soon. This is an unforgiving sport.
  11. I liked what he said. Some folks can't stand losing and our team is all about tanking.
  12. He fixed Shields (for a few starts) and appears to have fixed Soria.
  13. Sox front office needs to turn it around. 80 percent of their moves have been horrendous since the awesome WS title. They are living (albeit well right now) off the Sale, Robertson, Q and Eaton trades. Aside from that, pathetic front office since the WS title.
  14. This thread is depressing (after today's start). We should kill it and just pretend he's good.
  15. He'll have a good start every once in a while, but he's gonna continue in this role all year. Get 5-6 innings out of him every fifth day, allowing six-ish runs each outing, during a 48-win season.
  16. What would they do with the money anyway? Try to get a Class A catcher. Take a shot on that position.
  17. I know, it's strictly a salary dump and getting rid of him, really. I don't know why I care about a salary dump. I'd love to see Jerry and the investors get hit in the wallet one of these days in response to the lousy product and no concern for fan enjoyment (parking, concession prices). Should be interesting to see which contender takes Shields off the Sox payroll.
  18. I think we should have a discussion of medical horror stories and elderly assisted care living horror stories. I am a hater of our current healthcare system, so much I only want Bernie to win so we can get everything for free in the future. My contention is the insurance companies, even if you get the max coverage at work, don't pay squat and they are putting any middle class person who needs work done on the streets, in the poorhouse. Latest story: A woman I know lost 40 pounds and her blood pressure went back to normal so they took her off the pills. The doctor office said "feel free to come in and get BP readings the next month and see if your readings remain good." She gets a bill today. 60 bucks each time she went in for a one minute blood pressure reading from the nurse. Appalling. America ... land of the way too expensive education system; land of the ripoff health care system!!! Land of the ripoff daycare system (TOO EXPENSIVE!) and land of the ripoff assisted living home system (TOO EXPENSIVE!). What happens is the elderly person gets to stay in assisted living til their funds run out, their savings run out, the $$ they were gonna give to their kids upon death runs out, and the person is kicked to the curb. People like Trump don't care; it's gonna take somebody like Bernie, folks.
  19. Royals are trying to rebuild their pitching staff and fast. Although I think I read Elvis was only 18 so forget that for 5 years. The other guy is a non prospect right? They made the early trade; now it's up to the Sox to trade Shields and Soria while they are hot. I can guarantee you Soria will get bad again soon enough (unless Cooper has fixed him for good) and Shields also is gonna hit a wall before too long IMO.
  20. Didn't they keep winning though and only now have been losing. They continued winning after they beat our butts.
  21. I'd be worried that other teams would tee off on him and put our division title at risk.
  22. I agree but that's last year's Avi. Remember all those horrid at bats this season? Out after out, no working the counts, seemingly distracted hitter.
  23. Good win obviously. I've always liked Hector. Anderson did nice job and I loved Davidson's line drive that raced all the way to the wall. He looked tired after reaching second on that double. Bullpen was good. If Cooper is the reason for this improvement maybe HE should be our next manager. He's crabby enough to keep things interesting every day.
  24. I despise Soria of course but he has been lights out. I'm assuming Coop fixed him. He CANNOT be trusted to have become a good reliever for the long haul, however, and the WS years, so TRADE HIM NOW. I don't know why baseball's unwritten rules mean you have to wait forever to trade guys, right before the deadline. Royals made a trade today. We should deal SORIA now and Shields now right after Coop fixed 'em. GO SOX!
  25. So Coop has fixed Soria. And fixed Shields. So get on the phone now, Mr. Hahn.
