  1. I like what Anderson is doing. This is all Sox fans want. Signs of him being special. He's been stroking it lately. 12 homers isn't bad. If he had a big final six weeks he could hit 18-20 homers. Again, not bad at all. He really is starting to look comfy hitting in the Cell during this long homestand. Abreu, Moncada and Tim Anderson could be 3/4 of a playoff caliber infield for the next 10 years. Just need a 3B to go with them. I'm glad to see Delmonico keep getting hits. Two triples in one night is good stuff from Mr. Defense. Obviously glad with our pitching. Lopez, Rodon at least give the Sox 2 good starters in a 5-man rotation. The rare occasions you get the good Miguel you have 3 guys who can finally win on a given night. Holland and Shields obviously are embarrasments.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 10:23 PM) Excited for my ReyLo jersey Either you guys are baiting me to get me mad again, which is not very nice, or you actually are Jennifer Lopez fans? Ugh. How is this possible. Southsiders do not like Jennifer Lopez, folks. Southsiders like hot dogs and beer and Sox jerseys and SouthSide Hit men references.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 09:46 PM) This is the one cock measuring contest where Trump actually has the largest cock, in terms of firepower. So no surprise he wants to play. This is exactly the thing that was mentioned by the anti Trump contingent during the campaign to fear, so it should come as no surprise. His handlers better get a hold of him, and maybe let on to the American people and Repubican leaders that yes, this guy is not fit to be president, and so,etching must be done about it right away.It may delay or end any hope that the rich will get a tax break any time soon, but it may save millions of lives, including Americans. You make some good points, Dick Allen. If this were the 60s do you think the mafia would take out Trump? Think about it. He is risking everything with his baiting of crazy Kim. If Kim does indeed fire up some missiles to scare Guam and they land within 10 miles of shore or actually hit land, think of all the wealthy Americans who will lose out? They won't be able to enjoy their mansions and boats and perks of being rich if they have to go dine on protein shakes in a bunker the next many years til they die. If Trump is putting their lives at risk, you'd think theyd be on Trump's ass so to speak telling him to start backing off. Nobody wants thermonuclear war... at the top of the list are the rich.
  4. "He will truly regret it and regret it fast." -- Wow what a comment from Trump. ... He said if Kim issues a 'threat' to any of our allies or Guam this is what will happen. This story isn't getting enough play. this is the biggest story in our lifetimes, folks, the official possibility of thermonuclear war at any moment. Trump's comment was truly scary.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 08:55 PM) ReyLo it is. Just the thought of J-Lo sickens me. ReyLo will be one, awful nickname. Maybe the worst in Sox history.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 08:48 PM) Dan Hayes‏Verified account @CSNHayes 8m8 minutes ago #WhiteSox for 8/11: Anderson 6, Saladino DH, Abreu 3, Smith 2, Moncada 4, L. Garcia 9, Engel 8, Sanchez 5, Delmonico 7. Lopez 1. Batting Anderson first is so annoying. He doesn't try to get on base, that's the last thing on his mind. He's trying to see the ball and hit the ball hard. He's actually done better of late. Although I look at this lineup and there aren't many options. This is really a bad bad lineup. Given the same players, my lineup would be: Delmonico, Saladino, Moncada, Abreu, Smith, Anderson, Garcia, Engel, Sanchez.
  7. QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 04:31 PM) Should be a good one folks. Melky also making his first return to Chicago since being traded. First pitch 7:10 Central. What's Lopez' nickname going to be? ReyLo? No offense, but please, no. Gosh I hope the media headline writers don't pick up on that. Jennifer Lopez is annoying and not that famous anymore and has nothing to do with sports. ReyLo frankly will make me puke. Please think of something else.
  8. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 06:45 PM) Everyone born in Guam is a United States citizen... Then if any NK bomb actually hits Guam, wow, the world will be changed forever. Trump in response to the attack on US citizens will blow up North Korea, Jong Un blow up South Korea and Hawaii and parts of the US Mainland. Who knows what China and/or Russia would do at that point to add onto the thermonuclear destruction of much of the world. We can go from worrying about a White Sox rebuild to picking up the pieces in a society of bunkers, not stadiums, in a manner of minutes. Q: Answer this question: Will there be an international crisis/war before the start of college football season with millions of people dead or can we survive this?
  9. I did read on CNN today that Russia and China are working on something. The article said, "Russia called on the Trump administration to keep calm, and on Friday Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told state media that his country was working with China on a "double freezing" plan to address the threat." OK. That should be getting way more publicity. For the world to survive this, we need Russia and China's help and support. If they are willing to help, that's huge and needs to be discussed. I hope they speed it up and make it clear to the world they are getting involved.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) NK is not threatening to actually attack Guam. They are threatening to bomb the water 40km away from Guam. Don't let the chicken hawk warmongers beat the drums with false claims. Your post makes it seem like this Guam thing is not a big deal. I am a little worried that Trump hasn't told all Americans who are not military to get out of Guam and South Korea. That's irresponsible to not get them to safety if at any minute Trump might order strikes that result in the decimation of South Korea and Guam.
  11. Caulfield is this a hot topic in China? Are you concerned? You are an international expert. How will this play out? Personally I'm a little surprised Trump isn't calling for all Americans to get out of S. Korea now and all Americans to get out of Guam except military.
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 03:55 AM) Did you vote for Hillary? If not, you indirectly voted for Trump and a guaranteed nuclear holocaust. Well done Greg... I don't think you are blaming North Korea enough here. Don't be anti American on this, White Sox. Trump has to do something. I read a story today that suggests if we attack Korea we are not initiating this but protecting ourselves after a veiled threat to kill our people in Guam. I don't see how you can blame Trump for this situation. That said ... I didn't vote for Hillary and am still proud of that. I also didn't vote for Trump. It's not my fault that the system gave me Hillary v. Trump. I'd gladly have voted for Biden or even Bernie. I woulda voted for Kasich or McCain. But not Donald or Hillary. That's my right to write somebody in.
  13. Glad to see Moncada excel.
  14. Glad to see Moncada get the hero treatment after his first walkoff hit.
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 04:14 AM) If the sox lose this one, it's what we call a good loss. We? Go Sox!
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 03:09 PM) Hope everyone that didn't vote Hillary is happy now, because we now have good ole calm, cool, collected Donald to deal with this mess. If NK were to do this (which I doubt), I don't see how Trump doesn't respond with force. Not a great post. The Democrats could have given us a good candidate to vote for. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) That's the exact problem. The lack of impulse control was my greatest fear with him to begin. If NK strikes within distance of Guam action would be needed, but such action must be planned out and throughly vetted by a broader team. I just don't see Trump waiting to respond after such an event, in his mind it would make him look like a p****. And impulsive action would likely lead to much greater consequences for the entire world. Look, if they strike Guam it's all over. That's a direct attack on our bases and our people. If Jong Un is dumb enough to attack Guam there's nothing we can do but execute thermonuclear war. And yes the world will never be the same.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 04:50 AM) Why would Caulfield want to come back to the US if we're just going to get blown off the map? I forgot about that. He's pretty safe if he's in China. Now if he were in Japan, maybe not so much. Although if China and Russia decide to nuke us in response to us annihilating N. Korea they might take prisoner Americans living in China. I won't start a new thread, but I'd love to hear if people have any plans as what they'd do if they hear some morning that nukes are on the way about to hit Chicago. For some reason Chicago usually gets mentioned.
  18. Caulfield are u thinking of getting out of there soon and returning to mainland? Do the Chinese people hate us as much as North Koreans do? p.s.: Not meant for you caulfield, but Thanks, Democrats for giving us such a bad presidential candidate that we have Trump in charge during possibly the most dangerous time in the history of the world, likely the most dangerous time in the history of the world. We could use a Biden in office right now for sure!!!
  19. It might be time for anybody who wants to continue living to get out of Guam. Korea says it will attack soon. Well, the war to end all wars is indeed coming. N. Korea deserves what it's about to get. Now, will China and Russia nuke the USA in response to what we do to Korea? Maybe. Wouldn't it be smart for those 2 to combine forces and blow us off the map after we blow the Koreas off the map? I would think a combined Russia/China team could indeed end civilized life in the USA as we know it. Nobody knows how China and Korea are going to react to us dropping nukes on N. Korea. Think about it, though. N. Korea just today said they will bomb our bases in Guam. How can we not react? We can't just sit back and let thousands of Americans in Guam die. Korea says they are going to do it. I'm almost positive Trump will act on this and baby, the last war is about to begin. Who would have thought during the petty election cycle that true crisis that threatens the future of the world was about to hit? http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/09/politics/nor...rike/index.html
  20. Tim Anderson had a great game. Has he come of age? Miguel G. is horrific most nights but does have a few outings like this. I'd say he could be a 5 starter on the team next year.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 07:55 PM) So yeah, I honestly do hope that the people in the DPRK's chain of command for launching nuclear weapons have more power than the people in the US's chain of command. That doesn't mean I think they do, just that I hope they do. e: for reference: https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverythi...hats-by-design/ There is no chain of command. He tells somebody to fire the nuke at Guam and they fire a nuke at Guam. He tells them to fire a nuke at mainland USA, they fire a nuke at USA. If they don't, bullet to the head.
  22. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 07:43 PM) Good players do not have an on base % of .278 given the amount of playing time he has received. Davidson is what he is, a replacement level player. I hope you judge all our players as quickly as you judged Davidson and deemed him incapable of improving on some good performances his rookie season. Like I said on to the next guy. I don't know why we'd waste any more time on Davidson if we know he's a replacement level player. Put somebody else in there to hold the fort for Burger. Will you judge Burger in the same amount of at bats?
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 07:30 PM) I don't know why you keep referencing "advanced stats", all of his stats are bad, even the very basic ones with the exception of homeruns, it's literally the only thing he does well and there are 37 players in Major League Baseball with as many HR's as him and 56 with at least 20 and 55 players with at least 300 PA's and a SLG% greater than or equal to Davidson's. You guys win. I thought his rookie season showed promise, but I'm obviously wrong. So on to the next guy. Put Delmonico there.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 07:23 PM) Because he's shown no real signs of progress. He is who he is, a dude who hits some dingers but also strikes out too much and doesn't walk nearly enough to be a full time player. He is a bench player or a AAAA player on a good team. Remember Josh Fields. I give up. You guys are looking for a certain type of ballplayer and Davidson doesn't fit the bill. I wish we'd just release him now so I don't have to hear what a non prospect he is. Fields hit 23 home runs in 2007, then 10 homers the rest of his career. So that is a perfect comparison if Davidson is done producing at age 26.
  25. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 07:09 PM) .278 on base % is NOT good for any mlb player, regardless of home runs. My point is he's young enough that he just, uh, might improve? We're assuming TA might improve. My point is anybody who can hit 30 home runs in his first season and is still young(ish) has a chance. And I'd currently rather support that guy than dream about prospects. His defense I realize is regarded as s***, but I don't think he's been embarrassingly bad yet at 3B. Correct me if I'm wrong. Nobody's been able to explain to me why his performance hasn't dictated any excitement at all. He's a bum and that's that. I guess 26 is considered too old to get anybody excited nowadays. That's the bottom line. Answer this though: Why is it that Davidson's advanced stats have doomed him to being a boring non prospect when he showed promise in terms of hitting mammoth home runs (actually winning one game with a single up the middle)? At what point do you guys decide the advanced stats cannot be improved upon and a guy has no chance of improving? Is it simply his age? 26 is blah now. The cliche says he's too old to build a solid career.
