5/6 Tigers at White Sox
QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2015 -> 03:18 AM) He was horrible, even worse than last game in Minnesota where they got a lot of cheap hits. Damn. He probably has something wrong with his arm/shoulder. That's how it usually works when guys like Sale start to struggle, right?

5/6 Tigers at White Sox
QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 7, 2015 -> 03:17 AM) would be nice if LaDunn could hit into the shift like that I'd take a bunt single every time from LaDunn. No reason to not take your base but big league players won't do it.

I was surprised the previous batter didn't tee off. Putnam was throwing cookies.

5/6 Tigers at White Sox
QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2015 -> 02:14 AM) What part of Sale's performance tonight and this season showed that he should stay in the game this inning? Didn't watch it til now. Has Sale stunk tonight? Sox unable to win two in a row vs. Detroit. No surprise there, barring a rally.

Ventura on his job status
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 4, 2015 -> 06:41 PM) and 2007/2009 were pretty terrible as well. If not for those momentary blips in 2008/10/12, you'd have a decade of suck, and we're certainly nearing a decade without even the playoffs as the only major market team in the division, which is pretty incredible when you think of some of the advantages we SHOULD have been are unable to exploit (part of this offset by the crazy spending of Illitch, but also the fact that they either developed or traded for superstar players and we haven't, other than Sale/Abreu). To not make the playoffs in that long a span is really embarrassing.

Shark dropping appeal
QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ May 6, 2015 -> 02:41 AM) At least Rodon is where he belongs. Still belongs in Charlotte, but at least he's starting. Agree completely. Even if he gets rocked I'm glad he's not in that stupid middle relief role anymore.

Who can the Sox sell?
Robertson obviously is amazing right now. He's going to have one of those special seasons. There has to be a contender that needs an automatic closer. Sox's mission is to get that team to give us Kris Bryant type talent. 4 players for Robertson and make 2 of them studs and one with at least Beckham-like ability. You know how valuable it is to have a closer who is automatic to a contender? It's huge.

5/5 Tigers at White Sox
QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2015 -> 03:44 AM) The speed of the game is too fast for Johnson at this point. I would agree. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2015 -> 03:45 AM) Abreu made the play, but it was sure a stupid decision. I would agree. Quite dumb.

And that's a White Sox Winner !
Five walks for Sox hitters; one for Detroit. Robertson is so good. That error by Micah didn't even faze him at all.

5/5 Tigers at White Sox
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2015 -> 01:36 PM) Figures it will be about 50 degrees tonight, but the Sox have their top 3 going. A sweep would be great, but 2 out of 3 real nice. Tigers don't get swept. It's in their DNA. One of three wins saves Robin's job? Two would have the Sox thinking wildcard again? Safe bet, Sox win one of three somehow.

The White Sox Looming Decision
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2015 -> 07:10 PM) Fans specialize in panic. Not me. Last year I played the "it's early" game all season. It doesn't work when you have a team as poorly put together and poorly managed/coached as the White Sox. Something is wrong with the mentality of the franchise. It's an underachieving team and has been for a long time. There's obviously a comfort level there where the players all do their own thing. It's not a team at all. Anybody that isn't disgusted with this team after 0-3 in KC and worse yet 0-4 in Minnie makes me wonder how they can stomach what they are watching. Somebody deserves to be fired and fast.

The White Sox Looming Decision
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 5, 2015 -> 05:12 AM) The most likely scenario is simply that the players have been playing like s***, because history tells us that players often, for no good reason, play like s***. The good news is that those players will probably stop playing like s*** at some point soonish, but the bad news is that we still have all these losses in the bank. But yeah, you're right -- the manager seems like the scapegoat that's the easiest to remove, and since we don't really have any idea how to tell what type of impact the manager is having, we can find hope in the fact that no one can prove that it ISN'T him. Therefore, RV is an easy target. Thing is, the manager has to be the scapegoat here because of how badly the Sox are losing. Blowouts galore and just plain s***ty baseball. Even Hawk and Stoney sound depressed and/or amazed at the ineptitude so early in the season. I mean this franchise has got to stop playing such horrific baseball that it's been playing for quite a while now, really since Ozzie's last season. Bizarre losses. Even now we have this great closer and we can't get games to him cause of pathetic baseball. Robin should be blamed and he must be fired soon.

I Believe
As a fan I'll NEVER believe in this team after what they did in Minnesota. They laid down over the last 2 games and fricking didn't play baseball. This team is either so lazy or mentally fragile it's a joke. You don't lose the first two games of a series and quit (see Det. at Kansas City last weekend). This team got blown out of the water Sunday in a pride game, Robin didn't seem to show any emotion about it, so f*** them. It's going to take this team a long time to win my respect (not that they care). All fans should be furious. No I do not believe. Losing four in a row to Minnesota is just plain ridiculous. You have to quit to do that and they laid down. Their road record is so bad it's laughable. Yes you have to put in some effort to win on the road, fellas, not just say "it's a long season; it's a marathon."

Who can the Sox sell?
QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ May 4, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) This team was put together to be competitive for the next several seasons....while they may say that they expected to be competitive this season, I think that this season is still considered part of the rebuild given some of the glaring holes we went in with. I don't think we deal anyone but Shark, assuming he doesn't want to extend. Nobody was talking about glaring holes entering Opening Day. It was supposed to be a contending team now. The perception was the starters would be great, the bullpen was greatly improved and the everyday lineup would score a ton of runs. Only missing part was defense and nobody talked about defense being so bad it would hinder the team. It's not too early to say this team blows. There's a good opportunity for another do-over by simply dealing all the guys Hahn acquired. This time get prospects and good ones. Think of all the bodies we're going to get for Shark, Robertson, LaRoche, Melky and Lexi and Duke. Tons of new faces. Make em good ones Rick.

I Believe
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 4, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) And you should too. From the encroaching darkness heroes emerge. Let KC and Detroit have their April, for our Summer of the Sox hasn't even begun. I don't think I "should" believe but I respect your enthusiasm.

Who can the Sox sell?
QUOTE (Mike F. @ May 4, 2015 -> 12:58 AM) Maybe Ramirez, LaRoche, Bonifacio, Samardzija, etc just to name a few. Who do you think the Sox will trade if they decide to sell? I could see everybody getting dealt except for Sale and Abreu and Avi and Eaton. Think about it, there's no reason to keep ANY of last season's acquisitions and I think if we deal LaRoche and Melky early enough, we'll get something for them that's good. Cmon. An NL team will want Melky's bat. How bout the Mets or Cardinals? Trade Robertson first and ask for a haul of prospects. The guy is amazing. Somebody must need a nails closer. Then trade LaRoche. Try to get 3 minor leaguers for him, one with good potential. Then trade Shark and go for a HAUL. Somebody must need a starter that is a contender. Then trade Duke. Sox will get a ton of players for these guys. Also trade Lexi. Again we should be able to get a lot from a contender that needs a good ss. And trade Boni for anything. Also trade Soto for anything. There's no emotional involvement between the fans and any of these guys, so please Mr. Hahn, start thinking TRADES and rebuild the team this year for Gardy or Leyland.

Why should Robin Ventura have a MLB manager job
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 4, 2015 -> 12:08 AM) Not only that, but the tightness is leading to problems in all those other areas we keep noting. For example, today....Danks was so used to Abreu playing 1B that he assumed a ball was going to go down the line for a hit and he started backing up home, then was too late to realize it was actually LaRoche playing 1B and he'd made a wonderful play to stop it, only to have problems dealing with the throw in his haste to recover and get back to the bag. Micah Johnson is starting to be impacted by the pressing, as they moved him to leadoff and also his defense is getting a bit shakier. I guess the excuse for Eaton's poor play on Friday was that he was sick...that excuses everything that happened on the field of play and exonerates Ventura from any blame as well. Of course, if that wasn't the case, shouldn't someone have noticed and pulled him from the game after his first mistake, or second? Micah's play saddens me. I guess I expected a huge huge impact. Stolen bases galore, etc., after hearing Hawk gush about him all last year. I know he's OK and all that but I had way out of whack expectations for him. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 4, 2015 -> 04:04 AM) There's another good one. Guys I would love to see manage the Sox: 1) Stone, just to see if he could control his ego for an entire season 2) Harrelson, mostly for entertainment purposes 3) Ozzie again 4) Jack McDowell 5) Carlton Fisk 6) Bill Melton....well, just because we're already a laughingstock 7) Kenny Williams....also to see him bristle at being second-guessed by the media who basically has treated him with kid gloves 8) The best SABES team the internet could put together, working as a committee (like Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, lol) 9) Dick Allen (the player or the poster) 10) Greg775 11) This guy, http://houston.astros.mlb.com/hou/team/exe...mejdal_sig.html (Would be first Indian-American manager) 12) Kim NG (just because it would be interesting to have the first female manager in history) Thanks, Caulfield. That's actually not a bad list IMO, especially witih Greg on it.

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 3, 2015 -> 11:01 PM) The problem is we would be stuck with Cooper or Parent probably. I doubt we hire someone during the season I want Cooper desperately as interim. I am dying to see how mad he gets at press conferences. If this team is going to be this abysmal let's add some funny stuff. ... unless somebody bored would like to come aboard for the rest of the season like Lasorda, LaRussa, Leyland, Gardy. Anybody like that would nullify my desire for Coop. And of course my earlier suggestion for Ozzie. $50,000 salary rest of season with major incentives for getting wildcard and ALCS and WS of course. If he mouths off at all, bye bye. Who cares about $50,000. If he excels he gets one year deal for next season with similar figures. He'd probably manage for nothing to try to reinvent himself.

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
Do people just eat their tickets? Will there be a lot of no shows the rest of the year? When a team is this bad it must be hard for season ticket holders to dump tickets on anybody.

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 3, 2015 -> 08:12 PM) I'm not watching but just saw the score on Twitter. Could realistically see them making a move after this upcoming homestand. Sounds like there may be some sick players? Which doesn't mean anything big picture, but usually front offices don't like any small things getting in the way, they want it to be as clean as possible. But, I would be very shocked to find out the front office has not been speaking to available canidates over the last week. Yeah, you are right. The "guys being sick" excuse probably eliminates any of the anger toward the team/Robin from front office types. One thing is sure. They're not winning the division now, so they've already taken care of that drama the first week of May. Now it's wildcard or bust.

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
Sox have probably single handedly sold a lot of tickets for the Twins. Their crazy fans probably think they can contend for a wild card now.
-
5/3 - Sox @ Twins
People are right though. Jerry is getting old and with all of his peers dying he probably has a whole different lease on life these days. Maybe this doesn't sicken him.

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 3, 2015 -> 08:01 PM) I feel bad for robertson. Didn't he sign with us because he thought we would be winners? Most experts said the Sox kicked ass on the trade market and would be the most improved team in baseball.

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2015 -> 07:56 PM) Question starts to become if there's any reason to think they can compete next year. If not, then see ya Sale. I finally do not care who they trade off. I have no emotional ties to any of the players anymore. I could take a total rebuild with all no names.

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
When is the last time the Sox swept a four game series? I'll probly be surprised by the answer.
