  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 04:32 AM) I'm very excited to see Garcia play and I don't think anyone here can feel any different, whether they think he'll turn out or not I'm surprised Detroit messed with Boston and didn't just trade us Garcia for Alexei.
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 04:28 AM) Heyman says Sox get three more low level prospects from Boston. So 4 players, including one guy who was one of Detroit's top prospects (ready to play now at the age of 22) who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 240 and don't have to pay any more of Peavy's contract? Wow. This is a good trade, folks. Is it confirmed Boston will pay the whole Peavy contract?
  3. I don't mind this. Garcia is 6-fricking foot 4 and 240 pounds. The Tigers wanted to play him every day this year. He's the definition of a prospect. This is a gamble I don't mind. It's going to be good to see a big strong guy in the lineup.
  4. I knew it was Boston. They're going to pay his whole salary, aren't they?
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 02:45 AM) Who cares about whether Rienzo gets a win. I can't believe baseball players actually think about that stuff anymore Ugh. I normally like your posts but where did that one come from? I mean winning a big league debut is huge for a person I'd think. It's their dream to make it to the bigs.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:00 AM) Hawk was talking about how important the Indians bench has been. That's something that Hahn deserves criticism for. The bench was pathetic coming into the season with Wise/Sanchez/Jimenez. Angel Sanchez should have never been in consideration for the big league club. Gillaspie was the only positive contributor off the bench this season. Great points. Our bench on paper was so, so weak. Our team looked like a pennant contender on paper. Though we all were way too excited about adding Keppinger. Since he had a history of drawing some walks, it got the Sox fans excited we actually might have a guy who values getting on base. Of course it doesn't help when Robin lets guys swing 3-0 which IMO is dumb. Not calling for Robin's head, I love the guy, just making an observation. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:02 AM) Alright with the Francona obsession already.... Geess The guy is manager of the year this year and we had a shot at him. Why can't I belabor that fact??
  7. Lindstrom, by the way, looks like Little League pitcher of late. Two straight outings of throwing meat. He is not so good IMO.
  8. LOL at the Sox blowing another game. I love Robin but our manager shoulda been the guy who is in the Indians' dugout. You get a chance to hire a Francona like we had, you can't let it pass by. Worse team in baseball except for maybe one team ... the Chicago White Sox.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:24 PM) You wonder if the back was bothering him a while prior to the injury and if that was impacting his numbers? No idea..he's old so he might just be done but If I were a contender i'd try to get Paulie. If I were the Sox, I wouldn't care what I got back, the point would be to do whatever made Paulie happy (imo). Exactly! Excellent points IMO.
  10. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:17 PM) It's going back a ways but it'd be like the White Sox getting Ted Kluzewski in 1959. He was an old vet and that worked out well for the Sox. Amen Big Ed. An example is what I needed. There is one. There are more.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:13 PM) PK is a lot worse than Adam Dunn right now. Dunn has 25 homers. Konerko is hitting under .240 with 7 homers. Stop trolling people. I just have good vibes about Paul in Texas. Just because he's sucking with us doesn't mean he can't revitalize. This is like Berkman getting picked up that one year. You guys may think I'm crazy. Paulie to Texas makes very much sense. The man MAY NOT be finished. We'll never find out unless he's dealt to a contender. Can he rev it up and get hot and help Texas win its elusive WS with AJP? Texas should ship us 2 guys and try it.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) We wouldn't get anything of use back for Paulie. Why not? It's not like he's got an Adam Dunn batting average. He still gets hits. He is one of those trade deadline signees that MIGHT help a team win it all.
  13. Great trade for Paulie, the Rangers and Sox. He gets reunited with AJP, we get 2-3 prospects. Two of our great winners of all time helping Texas win the WS. Makes perfect sense for Texas. Get it done, Hahn. Paulie can still make contact, he just is not hitting HRs. Is it technical or old age? Trade him and find out. Paulie deserves a shot at another WS. He'd be a hero forever in Texas if he pulls it off for them w/AJP.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:02 PM) No real idea, never followed the subsequent case. Im honestly not a big fan of civil suits that are basically pseudo criminal cases. Preponderance of the evidence is a stupid standard when it comes to whether or not someone committed a murder. In short free OJ. Or dont free him, I dont really know or care. But I think that someones personal memorabilia should not be able to be turned over in a citation proceeding. In theory, does society ever do the "gotcha now?" Nail the person the second time around even when the second case is pretty petty?

Question for Badger and whomever: Do you think OJ is rotting in a Vegas area jail cell because we (society, jurors out there, etc) know he committed murder and we're making him pay via his second crime? Seriously ... did he do something bad enough to get this long sentence? All he did was go in a hotel room with some other guys and threaten some guys who took his stuff. I believe there was a gun in the room, but if I'm not mistaken, not even that has been proven as fact. OJ didn't even hit any of the guys with his fists. I believe he went to the hotel room drunk after a wedding and was bossing people around, but nothing happened. I don't even think the incident was that long to where it terrified any of the victims. I'm sure there are zillions of weekend crimes in Vegas involving this type of bullying or whatever you want to call it. I was appalled by OJ's speech to the parole board. It was all about how great he has been in prison and it was patting himself on the back type s***. But is this a case of our country saying, "Ha Ha, OJ. You killed 2 people and we all know it and you are rotting because of that with this trumped-up case involving your memorabelia?"
  16. What's the update chili? Are u dating happily ever after?
  17. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:40 PM) Of course we don't know what the asking price really was. If it was a Garz package, this isn't good. If it was 2 elite prospects, they could be coming down to something both can work with. I may be a cynic, but my guess is the "asking price" isn't about talent as much as $. The more a team will pay, the lesser the 2 prospects they have to give the Sox? Full disclosure. ... didn't a lot of you on here say money wouldn't be a factor w/Peavy and teams would be getting a bargain and would pay the entire remainder of his contract?
  18. How much money are the Sox willing to pay on Peavy/Rios? 1/3 of their remaining deals? Anybody know?
  19. The Peavy thing has come too far to fall apart now. Not starting him tonight and all that. It'd be embarrassing for Hahn to keep Peavy now. It'd be like he couldn't get a deal done. The tricky part is the money. I bet Jerry has told him exactly how much of the salary of Peavy/Rios he's allowed to pay.
  20. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:00 PM) I believe the waiver wire might bring better results for the sox. We obtained Rios to block the tigers nut I don't think we have anything that other teams are valuing our players enough to make a deal happen . If that's true then the Tigers were very very smart. Addition by subtraction scaring us into taking Alex Rios.
  21. Twitter is LOL bad this time of year. Do a search for Alex Rios and you find out he's certainly going to Pitt and you find out it's not happening. Twitter is a f***ing joke is what it is. Reporters should just wait. Updates that say a trade is close are not valuable, especially when the reports change less than 24 hours later. It's throwing s*** against the wall. Social media ... f***ing stupid. Here's my tweet if I wanted to have a fake account. Look for Peavy trade to come down tonight. Not sure where he's headed yet. 2-3 teams still in running. he will be dealt. Look for Rios to be traded to Pirates or Yankees for sure in next 24 hours. White Sox will deal him to team willing to pick up 3/4s of his contract at minimum.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) Beane wants to send a couple of prospects to the Sox for Peavy and have them eat money. Then he will trade Peavy this winter for prospects, thus getting him for almost free or even come out ahead. That is the plan. That makes too much sense. Why can't the Sox in the past ever pull off deals like that? They have no risk in this scenario. Get Peavy for almost free this year, dump him in the offseason to a big-money team. Pretty brilliant.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 04:58 AM) Floyd is a goner after this year. Where is Floyd going? I thought he had a multi year deal.
  24. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:08 AM) When can we start talking about the draft? Am I the only one that wants Bellinger over Rondon? Sox look like they can develop pitching fairly well so I'd rather have the hitter with incredible power potential. I'd rather sign free agents than talk about the draft in which no player will help us for a minimum of 4 years unless he's a mature college guy.
  25. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:06 PM) I say we are all happy come Wednesday, I see Jake, Lindstrom, Rios, Rameriez, and maybe Dunn all gone. This is all part of the game, even more so with a new GM like Hahn. These GMs are trying to push him around and test RH, they are using their leaks to test him further. Hahn is standing his ground, he is used to going toe to toe with agents negotiating multi year and multi million dollar deals. You gotta give the kid a chance before we worry or judge him. We have two days which is a lifetime in deadline time. Have no fear Rick Hahn is here. PS: Frank was on Sports Talk Live and said he expects 4-5 players to be dealt and even mentioned there may be a trade no one is expecting or talking about. Specifically mentioned one of the two young leftys, Hector and Josè. Man, in one day the future of the franchise will be decided if Frank is right. As much as I hate our position players, if we acquire lousy players in return, we will suck year after year. As much as Peavy is a yearly injury risk, trading him AND one of the young lefties does in theory weaken our starting pitching a bit. Future rotation of: Sale, Danks, Floyd, one remaining lefty and the minor leaguer everybody is always talking about. I guess that's STILL a good rotation if everybody is healthy. I actually could see us dealing one of the two lefties. I guess trading Rios, Dunn, Lexi, one lefty starter, Peavy, DeAza, Flowers and Beckham would be acceptable. It'd be quite the housecleaning in one day, though.
