Here's a good line in that story, lol. " Nobody really does believe in the Sox coming off a 61-101 season. They went into rebuild mode without calling it that — adding no high-impact players to a reduced payroll this offseason — traded their most valued relief pitchers and put their staff ace on the block. According to Baseball Prospectus’ widely respected PECOTA projections, the Sox are one of three teams with a 0.0% chance of making the postseason, along with the Rockies and Nationals.

Has to be the worst up the middle trio (counting catcher) in Sox history. I mean, cmon. I'm including offense and defense. Then if/when Robert gets hurt another substandard CF. Was reading an article on DeJong, made me want to find a bong. "An All-Star for the Cardinals in 2019, DeJong slashed just .207/.258/.355 (.612 OPS) last season. Over the past three seasons, he has a .192/.265/.353 (.618 OPS) line in 302 games." Sox are not only gonna be abysmal, they are gonna have some older guys who can't play anymore. I'd bring back Elvis. We remind me of an independent league team in some ways; "DeJong, 30, spent time with three teams last season. He began the year with the Cardinals -- the only team he had played for since debuting in 2017 -- before being traded to the Blue Jays at the Trade Deadline. Toronto released DeJong three weeks later, and while he signed with the Giants on Aug. 23, he was released less than a month later."

Caribbean series preview...
Congrats Ozzie. I'll forever thank you for the 2005 title. I can't see us winning another one in thi$ day and age. So thank u again. Say what you want about Ozzie. He may have a big ego but he knows baseball. He just does. If some team was smart it'd take a chance signing him with a clause anything he says the owner deems excessive causes instant termination without pay. I would think he's learned his lesson and we know he knows baseball. Our organization has hired Robin, Pedro and LaRussa for gosh sakes.

I was listening to Rex Hudler interview in my car. He was talking about how the usually pathetic Royals will win the division. His point was KC picked up some pitching in the off season and behind the pitchers will be a left side of the infield that defensively "won't let anything on the ground get through." He claims Massey has a good to great glove at second. Sal Perez and some other guy will share first so I question Hudler on the right side of the infield. Anyhow he claims KC is loaded with good nuff pitching and great defense and will win the division. I wish I could hear an optimistic interview about the Sox chances. However, the team figures to reek defensively again (doesn't Beni have a weak arm? And the new RF guy is what 5-foot-6? To go with the fantastic but oft-injured Robert). If Eloy plays first he'll be a sieve there. And we let TA walk even though nobody else appears to want him and Sox could sign him cheap. Only optimism for our Sox would be if TA was back and had a career year to go with breakout years from Moncada, Eloy, Robert and Vaughn. Sox have some old guy at catcher and are weak defensively at SS. I don't even think we have a second baseman. First base will be a sieve again. Oh well, are u all sick of me? Should I shut up once and for all?

I know it's considered blasphemy but because of all the bad decisions of the Sox since the ill advised tank I think I'll follow the Sox and Cubs this year. Aren't the Cubs considered a .500 team? I've been a Sox fan through thick and thin for decades and have no idea who is on the Cub roster. We'll see how it goes but it's time to become a fair weather fan regarding the Sox, If I buy MLB I think I'll follow both teams and continue to check in on the Royals. Sox have made minimal changes since last season and I fully expect the injuries to our 'good players' to continue. I doubt that's been addressed. Can you imagine? If a total die hard like me feels this way, what about others in Chicago? There have to be a lot of Sox fans who have given up until the team proves it is worthy of following at all. Play ball!

Sox looking at building in South Loop
Those truly are amazing drawings. I must confess once you got to the game you'd be in heaven. Any room for condos/apartments, etc., there? Of course "most" Sox fans who can afford tickets will not be taking public transportation They'll want to park their car near the park. If they can't and the Sox are worth watching, it'll be big screen TV at home. In this day and age, nobody's going to hop on public transportation after a game late at night, Not worth the hassle.

2024 PECOTA / Fangraphs Standings & Consensus Regular Season Win Total Odds
Coaching and overall front office competence and a good locker room helps them annually IMO. The Sox annually trot out a team full of plodding, average DH types and bullpens that are abysmal.

Bobby Witt Jr signs 11Y/$288M extension with KC
Is Witt that good? Or another Hosmer/Moustakas type? Pretty good but nothing to do handstands over? You got to admit I am a loyal Sox fan. I could flip to the Royals since they've improved their pitching and have Witt locked up forever but I do not flip. I am a Sox fan (that was hard to type).

2024 PECOTA / Fangraphs Standings & Consensus Regular Season Win Total Odds
I got the Sox at 61 wins plus/minus 2. Until the Sox bullpen gets fixed, the team is unequipped for modern baseball (I am a broken record, sorry). Our starters cept for "Mr High Pitch Count" Cease are all pedestrian and the bullpen blows. I won't bore you with my everyday lineup concerns. Yikes our team is gonna be one of the worst in team/maybe league history (win maybe 2 series all year?). Hyperbole? Maybe but I'm in a bad mood.

Tim Anderson Free Agency Discussion
Best post of the offseason. I think Sox are a better team with Whit and TA and like u said, Sox could flip 'em after a couple months if the team blows. It's just $$ though and sounds like our guys aren't interested in spending $$ at this time. ... Spring training is upon us. Are teams willing to sign guys after this Sunday? Seems time has run out on shaping rosters. It's time for spring baseball.

Isn't East of GRate field considered a no-visit zone especially at night?

Cease To Padres per Passan
Good question LipMan. I know I'm all over the map but I am a Sox fan and do want to win some games. I'm not a huge Cease fan (too many walks, 5 2/3 maximum man) but I do think he's an mlb caliber pitcher. So I'd prefer to have one starter I've actually heard of, even if I don't buy mlb.com. I think I turned off the autorenewal so I'm good to go there if i want to abandon my Sox. I wouldn't mind a thread where somebody optimistic could answer the question: "Why should I follow the Chicago White Sox this season?"

Cease To Padres per Passan
I still would rather keep Cease. Even though he can only go five and our bullpen likely will blow most of his leads, in theory he gives us a guy with a chance to throw five (or six i can pray) innings of scoreless ball and maybe we can win a few games. I have a feeling we're gonna have a tough time winning 60 even with Cease.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
Sounds like Jerry has been the villain owning those parking lots instead of developing the area in that space. On the other hand, the parking lots are needed. Like you said you don't want to go walking east of GRate Field. That Sun Times article about saving Bridgeport was good but how do you build apartments and restaurants and bars when you need the parking lots?

Sox trade Cristian Mena to Arizona for OF Dominic Fletcher
Can a 5-6 guy lift and pull or do we get 10 HRs combined from LF and RF all season? Not that I like lift and pull.

Grifol, Sox out to prove doubters wrong in 2024 (Merkin Optimism Series)
I"ve seen this year after year with the Royals except for that 2-3 year window where they were great. The Royals talk a great game in spring training then by mid May are 15 out and done. Or early May. That's the upcoming fate of our Sox. We stink Who is our SS this year, Lopez? LOL.

Grifol, Sox out to prove doubters wrong in 2024 (Merkin Optimism Series)
Ah the weak division argument from Beni. Nice guy. Nice try. I can't believe my team is now the one that espouses great optimism in preseason articles but we all know we are the new dregs team. Out of it after 3 weeks.

Cease To Padres per Passan
At this point I hope they keep Cease. There's pride involved. I want to have a chance at 55 victories.

Cease To Padres per Passan
So we're nearing Feb. 1. After that it's just hours before pitchers and catchers report. OK a few days. But my point is, quietly the offseason is about over. The Sox did absolutely nothing to improve the team. So my question to you is, "What's going on?" This is almost unprecedented. The Sox usually do something in the offseason. All of a sudden it's assumed Sox are flat out of cash and have no room to acquire anybody. Weird way to sell tix if they care at all about that. Good luck to the TV contract people. Who is going to watch this product this year? Not me.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
There's no way in hell our Sox are moving downtown. Book it. It's a stupid move bucking all trends regarding inner cities. You move to the suburbs or another city in another state.

2024 BBHOF: Beltre, Mauer, Helton in. Buehrle stays on.
Buehrle may not be a Hall of Fame caliber but he was outstanding. Worked so fast; he was an artist on the mound. Mark couldn't pitch in today's game. He routinely cruised into the eighth or ninth. Love me some Buehrle.

Sox select John Schriffen to be TV PbP announcer
Steve Physioc was a Royals announcer and very dull. Are these 3 finalists guys who use a Wink Martendale announcer voice? Are Sox for the first time gonna have one of those guys? I want conversation not awful monotone deep voiced homerism with most of the game a commercial for the homestand. 'Make sure to get your tickets.' .... ugh.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
Playing in the loop does not sound good with our big cities having some major problems in modern America. Suburban fans won't be coming. They need to drive their cars and there's nowhere to park down there, baby.

Jason Benetti wins 2023 Illinois Sportscaster of the Year Award
Congrats to him. All we need to know about the Sox is Bennetti is gone. A dream of his to broadcast his team. The team and organization is so full of bleep he left for Detroit of all places. My gosh, folks, this is a sign our team is the worst.

Sox sign Joe Barlow
Acquiring bodies to fill a team. Reminds me of a company softball team adding guys at a late date.
