2 years ago he was heading toward being my favorite White Sox...don't even know why...the way he carried himself...battled...but yikes! Hope he can turn it up a few notches this year! Not done with him...yet!

Thanks...are international signings different than the standard 6 seasons of control? Or does a contract like this one state specifically after 2 seasons he is a free agent?

Hit up a Blue Jays game at Coors this year...it is a fun ballpark! They open the gates to the OF seats early for batting practice and have a stand selling $3 Coors Original/LIght tallboys until game time! Took my 3 boys and my parents...had a blast! Jays crushed the Rockies but every single employee we interacted with was polite and positive. My parents needed assistance getting to their seats and the Rockies provided wheel chair service from the handicapped parking lot all the way to their seats! And when the game ended, the same workers met us and wheeled my parents all the way back to the car! It was a fun night for my family! The Rockies suck yeah...but the park felt like a destination that night...on a weeknight in August!

So will MLB.TV act as it has been just with a different owner or does it get absorbed into ESPN? Will it be ESPNMLB or something? I hope it is left as it was...easily my favorite streaming service!

He would LOVE to be the guy who broke the player's union! I am guessing that would give him more satisfaction the winning the World Series did! I really believe that!

Agree! Lee certainly fell out of favor with Ozzie for not hustling (or at least giving the appearance of not hustling) but Maggs left the organization because he happened to get injured in his contract year. Didn't Maggs only have like 200 or 300 ABs in 2004? (I guess I could look that up) The White Sox (JR) are way too afraid to commit to a guy that was injured in the way Maggs was. It took Maggs a couple of seasons to get back to the guy we loved watching play. JR wasn't going to pay for a season or two of that. Just glad it worked out for the White Sox in 2005...for Maggs too (DET paid him well$$$)!

Amazing...a guy with 14 career MLB innings gets the ball for the Jays in Game 1! Not saying he isn't worth it...but just blows my mind when I think back on game 1 starters over time. I am rooting for the Jays...but not betting anything on them!

The only case where JR spent (IMO) was signing Albert Belle...which was done to piss other owners off and he included an out-clause that he knew Albert would use...so maybe that doesn't really count? I am surprised the league owners don't call JR out for damaging a property that MLB could market!

In general I would hate this...but not because of the current state of the White Sox! One thing this recent "run" of White Sox baseball has done to me is it has opened me up to enjoying following other teams (Padres are an example). I just love baseball in general and would sorely miss the sport if I had to wait 15 or so months between seasons! But I certainly get what you are saying!

True...Dr Buss is still worshipped by Laker fans...JR will be demonized (rightly or wrongly) long after he has passed on...

That all might be true...but do you think they really delay a sale of this magnitude due to PR reasons? I mean...maybe...but does that mean they sat there in the discussions and said "hey Jerry, why don't you hang on to the White Sox a bit longer so the Ishbias can look better"?

Who was it that Hahn ate some decent amount of money (by White Sox standards) to release a guy a few years ago...and praised JR for allowing him to do it? Can't remember who it was though...

Also, what are they negotiating at this point? An extension to play at the Rate? Or a new ballpark?

So this businessman who lives in Chicagoland is going to purchase an MLB team at a value that would fit a major market team...and instantly devalue it by moving to a smaller market? Jerry isn't selling the club at a small market price so Ishbia will be over-paying for the club...won't believe these rumors until it happens (which I doubt is even under legitimate consideration).

I get the urge to grade on a curve...but Getz knew the situation better than any of us...and took the job why? Just for the money and prestige or because he thought he had a plan? If he had a plan, he is entering his 3rd off-season with no card in his hand that will get him 2, 3 or 4 kids we feel "good" about (Crochett card)! I am thrilled we went younger this season...but 2 of those younger kids are someone elses kids (which is fine, it is how the sport works). So with no card like the Crochett card...who is being developed that will show up and have us excited about getting even younger? Smith and Schultz? Maybe...I hope so! But yikes unless those two figure something out in the off-season or spring training!
