  1. The day of/after the trade Stone said on the radio that Nick M was drafted much higher than he should have been drafted. Might not of been those exact words but made it clear that Stone did not think Nick M was worthy of being the 4th pick of the draft.
  2. What if he sees a chance to start in another organization? I mean...he could be our starting 2B next year...but I hope not. I love the guy...just don't want another season where he has to get so many ABs!
  3. Any thoughts on what Leury will/would come back for? His value is interesting when comparing his use to his salary! Baseball Reference says he has made $11 million over his career already and made $3.5 million this past year. He is a free agent...will any other organization see him as someone they would like to add? He had a very special role on this past season's team and in the hearts of the fans! But I think it will be interesting to see how much ($$$) the White Sox truly value him.
  4. What I want: - spend money on a legit RF ( Castellanos??) - focus on 2B that plays outstanding defense What they will do: - fill RF with an aging veteran and hope he has a good year (Avi Garcia...ugh) - bring in an average defensive 2B that can hit a little but not a lot (Cesar Hernandez) - and they will sell us on high hopes of being healthy, rebound year for Kuechel and moving Kopech to rotation Re-reading the instructions...maybe my descriptions are too generic and should have included some names? If so...my bad!
  5. No doubt...how different (boring) will the post game show be with Gordon Beckham every night!
  6. No doubt he could handle the personality (personalities??) in that clubhouse! I always had this feeling that OG would be a perfect manager for the Dodgers but he might just be a very good fit in SD at the moment!
  7. I agree for the most part...but maybe he thinks the next step we hope the organization takes will be the hardest? Winning a division is great...and fun! And yet...the playoff series made it look like the organization has a long way to go in order to beat the likes of Houston (or a team built like Houston). Hopefully RH can fix the roster a bit and improve the rotation enough to take the step. But it won't be easy (especially given the resources the White Sox traditionally spend). RH might have reached his max appeal right now?
  8. I agree with you on this point. But both KW and RH gushed publicly about how much they wanted Kimbral. Even stating that he was essentially the 1 guy they wanted to add more so than any other option that may have been available. I think that plays into the criticism of the trade. Had the FO not patted themselves on the back so much...there might be less "anger" about the results.
  9. Yeah...I could see that! Ideally he won't play even half as much as he did this year if he comes back...even less than that actually! He was great for what he was...but he never would have been on the field that much had we not had so many injuries.
  10. You think Leury sticks? He made $3.5 million this season. Do you see him taking a cut to come back or getting a multi-year deal? I don't know either way but I just felt that he played himself off the roster (in a good way for him) because it would take a pay raise to keep him and I don't know if the White Sox will play the "10th" man all that much?
  11. It would be interesting to see how JR would handle RH interviewing for another position! If RH were to entertain someone reaching out...he best make sure he gets the gig! If RH would get the gig and have the ability to hire on-field staff immediately...would have take anyone from the White Sox? If so...who?
  12. Yeah...I think your feeling is going to be reality! Sadly...this will make the "hot stove" stuff go away!
  13. Pete Rose chiming in on the Yankees...like Pete or not...this is a hilarious comment about Joey Gallo: Then, he took his criticism of Gallo a step further. “How does someone who didn't play every day strike out 213 times?” Rose says. “Ray Charles wouldn't strike out that much. I just can't imagine striking out 213 times without killing myself.” https://nesn.com/2021/10/pete-rose-ruthlessly-shreds-yankees-takes-specific-aim-at-joey-gallo/
  14. I hope they don't do it...but I have this fear that Eloy will be considered as a trade piece.
  15. LOL...I love OG! I am not saying he should be hired right now...but when that feud was burning at its height...no way would I have sided with KW!
  16. He was going to get fired! JR told him to take the Marlins job as JR sided with KW in that dispute.
  17. True...but you also have to factor in what we might do with the $16 million if we don't pick the option up. They have 10 days after the World Series to make that decision correct? I would hope they have the parameters of a deal prior to picking the option up (if they do that). Otherwise...there is a chance we are seeing Kimbral in a White Sox uniform on Opening Day making $16 million. I don't think the FO should worry about saving face...just make the best moves going forward without regard to how that specific trade worked. Will they do that? Not sure...but they should!
  18. Or you don't pick up the option and start with a clean slate. I don't have strong feelings either way (other than the fact that he sucked this year)! But to think we would get some big time contributor to a successful season next summer it seems would be wishful thinking. Nobody will be giving up as much as we gave up (regardless of how one feel's about Madrigal) to acquire him.
  19. While it would be risky...I guess you would have to weigh the benefits of the returns each would/could command.
  20. That is a good question...but certainly Stone will say he didn't perform up to the levels that were expected when he was acquired. Why that didn't happen would also be an interesting take from Stone!
  21. Yeah...Stone has an ego for sure...but he is usually strong in his assessments. I also recall him saying Madrigal was "over"-drafted meaning he was taken too high. That is a shot at the organization...right?
  22. I know Stone is a mouthpiece for the organization but he went out and praised this trade as much as anyone could praise it! And while doing so...it seemed he was a bit critical of Madrigal. I recall him using phrases like "Madrigal is done developing, low ceiling, defense had been disappointing, and fragile". Obviously the Cubs brass didn't view Madrigal that way but I do remember thinking that Stone really went after Madrigal in his overwhelming praise of the trade!
  23. He and KW have to wish they didn't gloat so much about acquiring Kimbral...how many times did we read the quotes about KW and RH saying if they could add one guy "Kimbral was that guy"! Ouch! I agree that Kimbral didn't produce and that is on him...but yikes! HE was that guy?
  24. I still can't believe we signed Adam Eaton at all...let alone for $8 million...and that was early in the offseason! That move was odd at the moment...and embarrassing now!
