Exactly. Once he didn’t get the long-term contract offers he was expecting, he took a short-term deal with the idea that he would prove his star status and worth. Why would he now jump to accept a piddly $100 million hometown discount extension rather than wait a year for multiple bidders and possibly triple that number?
