  1. Shouldn’t you be more worried about your team’s injuries and your new starter acquisition looking like a tee ball stand this spring?
  2. How many times were Kenny and Hahn wrong before they were fired? JR has made countless dumb decisions but he isn’t going to fire himself. If Grifol is still the Sox manager, I’m sure Getz has many years to prove himself, or his failure.
  3. ? I’m still laughing. There’s a reason they hate this guy even at his own message board.
  4. At least we got another starter with a porn stache to replace Cease’s.
  5. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some truth to this as well. We all know how JR feels about signing free agent pitchers to multi-year contracts. It doesn’t happen. The proven is, position players are getting more and more money as well. So who will the Sox ever sign in free agency other than over-the-hill veterans?
  6. I think $200 to $500 million dollar deals has changed the game. Teams don’t want to give up their top prospects if they are also rated top 50 prospects in the MLB. They know they can’t afford to buy these potentially top players in free agency so they are more willing to give up a larger quantity package of their slightly lower rated prospects in trades.
  7. There is also risk appetite and I don’t think Getz had enough of it to go into the season and risk injury with Cease pitching until the trade deadline. I wouldn’t have had it either.
  8. I have no doubt it is, and that Robert will be the last big bullet dealt to bolster the new rebuild.
  9. Unfortunately we wouldn’t have that benefit.
  10. In the past few years, teams have been more and more reluctant to give up their top prospects as they watch the prices for top free agents skyrocket.
  11. Maybe in 2-3 years. Pretty obvious that is the plan.
  12. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the plan so they can turn him into another decent prospect or two.
  13. His team has already been the laughing stock of the MLB, and it’s more due to JR, Kenny, and Hahn than Getz.
  14. And you also like a 26 year old infielder over a 19 year old lefty CF with multiple tools? And for THIS team in its current state? Wow…
  15. It’s pretty obvious at this point that a top 20 prospect was never going to happen, from any interested team.
  16. I would hope Getz trades him to a team that needs bullpen help sooner rather than later.
  17. Okay, Zavala saves the deal. One more player to go.
  18. Return looks mediocre so far. No position players so far for a team that can’t draft, develop, or sign them.
  19. Definitely quantity then. I won’t be surprised if Thorpe is the highest rated prospect in the package.
  20. Balta may still be right as well, no? Thorpe is #85 on MLB’s top 100.
