I think you nailed it here. This was the entire strategy. Just fill a bunch of roster spots / positions in the cheapest possible manner. Two potential starters in Soroka and Shuster. A starting 2B in Little Nicky. A utility infielder in Shewmake. A pitching prospect in Gowens. More is not always better, especially when the majority of the return is garbage. Getz was like a little kid shopping for cheap Chinese toys at the dollar store. He would have been much better served going the all prospect route in the trade.

Sure seeming like it now. His bat is just not good enough with his Madrigal power. It just doesn’t work in the majors.

Sox fans are used to watching multiple players suck for numerous plate appearances. We are almost immune to suckage at this point.

With 14 HR on the season (9 with the Brewers). Sox still need a 1B. What do you think Getz could offer the Brewers for him in the offseason? 🤣

They just mentioned a couple of these players are former minor leaguers. One was in the Cubs farm system. Good to know Jacob Gonzalez will have some job opportunities after the Sox.

The Cease trade was bad enough. I’m sure he’s just happy to actually be employed in a position he’s not qualified for with a boss that doesn’t like firing anyone no matter how worthless.

I see your point but not to me. It would still just show what a failure the Sox organization is that they couldn’t get anywhere near this kind of performance out of Vaughn. Everyone knew that Vaughn was a top bat in that draft.

This is nightmarish. Dude’s OPS is up to .721 which is crazy considering it was at .531 with the Sox when he was traded.
