  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) His defense has been awful this season (by his standards)...I believe he has double digit errors. wow, that old saying about "you learn something new everyday", well toady my education is in D-Lee. Has it effected A-Ram's defense? When I was in school and could watch a lot more baseball, Lee saved him a lot throwing errors
  2. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 07:51 PM) ESPN is really bad. I agree with that statement about trolls and in general
  3. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 12:16 PM) Are you ok with pinning your hopes on Contreras coming back strong after his injury? If everyone comes back healthy they have a solid core of 4 guys and worst case Richard-Broadway and others fighting for the 5th spot
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 01:10 PM) Maybe they should get Z on the Rich Harden rest plan. It'll be interesting to see how they throw in the playoffs, that's for sure. It seems like Dempster is the only guy they can count on when on regular rest. As for Cubs fans dislike of Derrek Lee, it's simple. He had that once in a lifetime career year in 2005, and Cubs fan refuse to/are unable to realize that what he did in 2004 and what he's done last year and this year is more of what Derrek Lee really is. He's a victim of unrealistic expectations. http://www.baseball-reference.com/l/leede02.shtml Intereting, I never looked at Lee's numbers before. Yeah his '05 OPS + was about 50 points higher than his career average and about 40 points higher than his second highest seasons. Also his RC/G avg that year was about 4 runs greater than his career average. He's is still a solid player, especially with the sick defense he plays
  5. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 02:08 PM) Can I also say how much Alexei Ramirez means to this lineup right now especially with Quentin out. When he hits, this team scores run, probably because the man is so good with RISP. When he doesn't, as he did in a few games in the Yankee series, it seemed as if we just majorly struggled to score runs as a whole. Dye has also provided no OPS from the 3rd spot. Someone pointed out he had a hit streak going the last 2 + weeks, but he's provided no power or drawing many walks. http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bspli...1&year=2008
  6. I prefer those answers. They are going to get asked the questions so they can either answer like this, make a ton of excuses about how well NY played, or go off and yell at the media.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) This group of cubs players all of a sudden feel entitled to special treatment, by both the umps and the other team. I've never seen so much arguing, bat flipping, complaining from the north side. Professional and good guy players like DLEE have taken a back seat to some of these a-holes. Oh, and heaven forbid anyone on the other team shows any emotion.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) They wont make the playoffs. well that Mets pen is a suckfest as well, so it will be interesting, but if forced to pick at this moment, I agree with you
  9. We can complain about the Sox bullpen all we want, but at least it's better than the Brewers. Cubs tie it up 6-6
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 02:19 PM) I understand your point, but they need Harden healthy for THIS October. I don't know if he's healthy as it is right now, but letting him throw 115 high stress, wild pitches in only 5 innings could hurt his chances at being healthy next month, which is really all they do or should care about. They do have to find out what he may or may not have left for October, and they probably want to do it in September rather than maybe down 0-1 in a NLDS series. I see your point too though, he's an enigma. This is why the A's probably couldn't get the high end prospects for him that his talent would seem to demand. I think when he was traded he had made 8 or 9 starts in a row and he either never, or only a small amount of times, made over 10 starts without some form of injury.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) I had my say on how Harden has looked his last two outings, both on extended rest. But another big question here is what the hell is Lou doing? Letting Harden throw 115 pitches over 5 innings in a relatively meaningless game is pretty damn stupid in my opinion. Actually, to let anybody do that under these circumstances is pretty damn stupid, but REALLY damn stupid might be a better way to describe it when a fragile guy like Harden is the one pitching. He could of been taking the "who gives a flying f" approach, similar to what Yost did with CC. I believe Harden only has an option left for next year, and I don't think it's for huge money (if anyone knows what his contract status is, please provide). The Cubs might just say f it, let's see if he can hold together for 2 more months and make the best run we can at the WS.
  12. awesome I-Pod update for me! Before lunch, I-Pod on my desk, after lunch, I-Pod gone. s***, this sucks.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) I don't know if they can rely on Harden much right now. If I'm the Cubs, he's either my 3rd or 4th starter on the postseason roster. And I still think the Phillies would be the Cubs toughest matchup on the NL side. I think if Harden is not 100% than the Phils would be their toughest match because of their lineup and then Hamels and Meyer as their 1 and 2 and Lidge at the end. If Zambrano and Harden are full guns, they are a big favorite
  14. QUOTE (Shadows @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 12:01 PM) It is AWESOME.. there are a handful of meh songs but overall its the best set list for any music game ever. The songs are so badass, add it in to the fact that Rock Band 1 transfers over along with all the DL s*** Ive got 200 songs on my game right now. So when you play the tour and s***, you rarely ever see repeats. It puts the Rock Band 1 songs and the DL content into the tour when you play mystery set lists. So unlike Rock Band 1, you don't end up playing Train Kept a Rollin 15 times on the tour (Hate it) Pain Killer by Judas Priest is f***ing fun as hell to play Sweet, I'm looking forward to Saturday to rock out. We played the endless setlist one night, it was awesome
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) You did note that he only included the contending teams right? lol, nope totally missed that. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm playing the sick card on this one and I was all drugged up
  16. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:29 AM) Totally agree. There is an excessive amount of trolls on sherdog. However, some of them are pretty creative and get people quite upset. Yeah, the obvious trolls are hysterical on there. Posters also have some pretty funny troll GIFs.
  17. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:05 AM) I already have gray hairs. Yeah, i'm 29 and I'm starting to get gray, but it doesn't bug me. I have been going to the same salon to get my hair cut for years, and the women there have sworn to me they will tell me if I start losing or thinning and we will come up with a game plan
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3594495 here's the latest update. Sounds like everything is going OK and he has a small chance of playing if the Sox can get in the playoffs. and +1 on the ptatc props
  19. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 08:59 AM) What I find ridiculous is the "ADULTS" that were fighting over the costumes at Party City last year. The line was out the door. Grow up you idiots. The sad thing is they were probably fighting over the same pimp suit costume that about 20 other people will have at the party. I love going to Halloween parties and dressing up and I will be 30 next year, but I try to put some thought in my costumes. I'm not the most creative person in the world, but I've always managed to come up with different costumes that people liked for reasonable prices
  20. Seems like you are going to take the bus, but if you or anyone decides to drive, remember that Illinois is upping their speeding picture units in construction zones. So if some a-hole is tailgating you don't worry about, it's better than getting stuck with a ticket for speeding in a construction zone
  21. Look around Steff, you can find good kid costumes for reasonable prices. My sister found my 1 1/2 year old niece a cute duck costume, and it seems like it will be comfortable for her. Go to those Halloween stores that pop up in strip malls. By my work in Crystal Lake we have 2 literally a quarter mile from each other so the prices are really good. I've always loved Halloween and had great times as a kid and as an adult, but for real young kids probably the most important thing is that they're comfortable in their costume, you get a few cute pics out of it and you use them to score free candy from neighbors
  22. QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) Bernstein likes to play doctor, financial expert, lawyer, and general smug mr. know it all, and he is usually somewhat accurate. The only degeneration he may have would be in the small muscle of the hand. I'm sure the medical staff had him keep everything else active during this time. It's only been two weeks so everything will come back very quickly. Just thought I would add a little to that statement. Before he resigned with the Score a year or two ago he was negotiating with WLS to join the Roe Cahn (sp?) show. It could have ultimately boiled down to money, but IMO part of it was he wouldn't have been able to act like the smartest man in the room and bully callers like he does now.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 08:56 PM) Great job by Jensen Lewis this series. Please play with some balls Tampa, and win 3 of 4! I think they're only 2 up on Boston, so they have everything to play for
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) Wow, no bats for us and no bullpen tonight again. Wonder if Oz should have used the Thornton, Jenks combo again. They are the only two usable relievers. We might regret not taking advantage of the Twinks' slump when their fans are going nuts soon against us in the Humptydome. WIthout reading the thread, who got all the blame tonight? I didn't read it either, but my guess would be Swisher, even though he didn't play
