  1. it's an east coast job, wouldn't be suprised if Bobby Valentine's name pops up. He's still in Japan, correct?
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 12:59 PM) I just skimmed the article but im pretty sure these are charges from the original crime that got him in all the trouble, so really this did not need its own thread or atleast with that title. I could be really misreading it, but to me it sounds like the incident occured at about 4:00 a.m. ET, roughly 10 hours ago. I'll give you that even the police seem to be saying he wasn't there at the time, but seems like he was there earlier and his associates were involved with a shooting.
  3. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/foot...o.ap/index.html when I hear Pac-Man's entourage, I think of Ms. Pac-Man and those ghosts he use to gobble up (mods, if you feel this needs to be merged, please fire away!!)
  4. like I said earlier, I was fine with the ending, because it was along the lines of what I was expecting. However, if it comes out that Chase really meant all of us to get that Tony died, I would be annoyed. I have no problem killing him, but I would have preferred us seeing who did it. Now, people may say something along the lines of "the show was from Tony's perspective, so he wouldn't know who killed him." However, I feel the show is not 100% from Tony's perspective, things happened on that show that Tony never knew about. Oh well, like I said, I read it as a "life goes on in a f'd up matter" ending, and I am fine with that
  5. I really miss the ECW shows at the Odeum. For beginners, it was 5 minutes from my house. Actually though, they were a ton of fun and very affordable. ROH comes close to it, but something about the ECW crowd and wrestlers was just awesome. I think the first time they ran the building Bubba Ray almost started a riot, got a chair thrown at him and it hit the ref. Their heel gimmick is one of the greatest of all time IMO
  6. Dunn is a fun player, and can be extremely effective in the right lineup, but I don't see how he's a fit for the Sox at this point
  7. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 07:54 AM) I like him, but how bad is his defense really? from what I've seen it's awful. He seems absolutely lost out there.
  8. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2906373 guess it's time to get this fire burning again.
  9. From what I understand, Japanese is an interesting language to translate into English. There's not a lot of exact translations, so awesome quotes are always provided. When PRIDE FC was still running, some of the quotes that came out of that were priceless. Also, some of Yao's Chinese to English quotes are in a similar style
  10. what are these like? Are the fans good, or do they ruin in with yelling show stuff? I like Richard a lot, probably would go if he was there. Although a pic of me and Beet for my office wall is tempting
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:04 PM) The 05 Sox were not lucky. They were a fantastic defensive team, with a solid offense that could manufacture runs and a studly pitching staff and pen. It was one of the more dominant teams in the recent era when you factor in all the strenghts that club had (albeit I know a lot of people whined about the offense because it wasn't one that would put up 10 plus runs a ton but it did consistently get the runs necessary). Obvioulsy people will say the club was lucky based on the number of one run games it won, but that was because the bullpen was stellar, the defense was good, and the team could get a run off a leadoff walk because they had a guy like Pods that could snag extra bases. well put, I think it was a very well constructed team that "on paper" translated to the field. Especially the playoff run, their 11-1 mark ranks up with some of the better WS teams in history, and the pitching performance in the ALCS were doing things that hadn't happened since the 1950's and 20's.
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 11:33 AM) It's funny you mention that. I have heard from a ton of folks that if the screen had slowly went to black they would have been happier with it. I agree with that, I don't mind the black ending, but like i said, to literally think "oh shoot, my cable f'd up" took me out of the great tense scene.
  13. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 11:17 AM) Why would a Boras free agent come here? KW has a terrible relationship with Boras. Sorry, I didn't mean that the Sox should go after him, I agree, it would make zero sense. I just meant in general
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:49 AM) Not really sure why the Braves needs Griffey Jr. They have a great platoon situation going in LF, and have Jones/Franceour in CF/RF. If anything, that team needs help at first base. any chance they move Jones? I doubt with Boras as his agent they'll resign him, why not get something for him now? (Although his #s have been down this year, so his value might be very low)
  15. I'm kind of in the middle on the finale, but tending towards liking it. I think I saw a lot of interviews with Chase where he said it would not have a typical ending, so I was prepared for that. The thing that bugs me the most was the quick cut to black, I didn't like thinking my cable went out, I think it lost its impact. I read it as a "life goes on, and this is the life Tony chose" which I'm fine with.
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) Does anyone have a clue on our team what a line drive is. Outside of our bullpen. Everyone pops everything up. Especially on low and away. They pull off every pitch trying to turn and burn. well, at least Iguchi hit a line drive...
  17. come on, maybe not seeing Eaton's dazzling stuff will change something QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 08:10 PM) I like it. Like Munson when he checks into the bowling tournament at the end, the reaction of the staff member is hysterical
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:57 PM) How are they not a threat? No one hates the Cubs more than I do, but they're the best hitting team in the NL. Zambrano's also finally getting his act together, and he's usually dominant from this point of the season on. They've had a ton of bad luck this year in terms of one-run games, and if they can get that turned around, they should win that division with ease. I'd love to see the Brewers stay tough, but they might be one year away and one pitcher/hitter away. Can we just loan them Buehrle? I hate the Cubs too, but I am also fair with them. I just don't hate to hate, in '03 I gave them their props and actually thought they had a chance in '04. However, like i said, just watching those games, that team plays dumb baseball, and that catches up to you. I think they'll hang around, but they don't play baseball well
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) Ugh, and the worst thing is going to have to hear all day tomorrow how Carlos Zambrano is back. We're going to be facing him next weekend at the Cell. I know the Cubs are in a bad division, but if you watch some of their games, that team isn't a threat. They'll have flashes because of their offense, but they play bad baseball
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) How can you not walk Howard there? I applaud Ozzie for making the sane decision. oh no, I totally agree with it, but I'm sure if he didn't people would think it's ok
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:50 PM) I like this move by Ozzie. I agree, I don't want to second guess, so I'll get in on this now, if Rowand beats you, then he beats you, can't let Howard do it
  22. if dye is having an average year, how many wins is that worth? To me 6-8
