  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) Unless his hand is broken, he can sign. Thank you Fox Sports for that breaking news. :rolleyes. lol, well Steff, I'd get ready for a lot of quality lines like this in the next hour or so since outlets don't want to be out-scooped but also leave them wiggle room if this is all B.S.
  2. suprised Levine and AM 1000 aren't weighing in on this. I assume he's checking his sources before he either totally squashes it or at least weighs in with his opinion
  3. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 10:45 AM) Well, at least they got decent ratings for this morning. Some things never change. I still havent forgave them for the "Griffey trade" bs if you're talking about the April Fools joke, yeah, that was ridiculous. Their credability would be zero if this doesn't happen
  4. QUOTE(Balance @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 10:40 AM) So, first the Score announces the story, now they're backpedaling. I don't like the backpedaling. But I'm encouraged that the two sides are talking. uh-oh, can't hear it at work, how are they packpedaling? Are they just saying "sources" or the sides are only talking?
  5. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) Remember? I know about almost every one of the guys on there outside of a handful. unless i missed it, was Bruiser Brody on there?
  6. really hope this happens. MB has been a class act and a Sox product, it would be a shame to lose him. This team has fallen flat on its face this year, but the fans are coming out, and strong franchises keep their cornerstones, would love to see the Sox make this happen. If it happens, I see a compromise of a 4 year deal with a 5th year team option
  7. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) Most early deaths in the wrestling business are caused by wrestlers taking painkillers and/or other illegal druges, not steroids. This going along with the extreme amount of contact they go through day in and day out is not a good combo. WWE has had a steroid testing program on its main roster and developmental rosters for a few years now, and I can only recall there being one person caught in this time frame. I think one quick fix would be scaling back the schedule, but that would obviously be a major economic hit to WWE. I believe some of these guys do something like 250+ shows a year, plus all the travel.
  8. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:35 PM) The steroids findings would seem to suggest the media is going to be licking its chops to beat up on professional wrestlling again. I have a feeling that what Vince McMahon and the WWE are about to endure will make the steriods trial of the 80's and the Owen Hart tragedy look small in comparison. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I know WWE instituted a "Wellness Program" to attempt to deal with drugs, but this discovery isn't going to help them at all.
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 11:55 AM) Rewriting Wrestlemania XX is a slap in the face of all wrestling history. -- What's particularly new about this story? We knew about the murder-suicide. Strangle-smother is a new detail but it doesn't tell me much more. I'd like to know toxicology, suicide note and what else was going on. What I took from it, was it was still kind of up in the air about who killed who, etc... this seems to be confirming some of the speculation. Also, it gives a timeline, including the chance he was watching the PPV with his son and texting people during it. Also, I believe it's the first time I read he may have killed his son and wife that far apart.
  10. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) They are really distancing themselves from this. Especially if the TMZ details are correct, then I can see why. Wow. CNN is now saying that the AP is reporting those details are correct
  11. http://www.tmz.com/2007/06/26/benoit-murde...tails-revealed/ more rumors of the details. These are very disturbing
  12. I like Vasher a lot, I think this was a solid signing. It seems the Bears have been very smart about their salary cap signings, ie not signing guys who are impossible to cut in 2-3 years if it's necessary. I think Vasher got a lot of respect last year, and I don't remember him getting burned for many big plays
  13. IF, and I'm stressing IF, it comes out that Benoit murdered both, the Sun Times had an interesting story about why father's murder their families on their front page yesterday. I'm sure it's archived on their site, and it's worth reading IMO
  14. QUOTE(Cali @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 07:24 AM) If all of this is true would they put a hold on doing any more tributes? I'm sure they already feel a little strange if they dedicated a 3-hour show to a guy who it turns out may have murdered his family...It's a sticky situation for sure.... yeah, it's an odd situation. Meltzer is saying they'll do tapings tonight not a tribute show or continuing the McMahon death story line. Maybe they'll just do a straight wrestling show for ECW tonight with no storylines, then restart stuff on Monday's tapings
  15. quick Monday afternoon shuffle... My Very Own Flag- Less Than Jake Leave Mine to Me- Bad Religion Simply Irresistable- Robert Palmer Dazed and Confuzed- Led Zepplin Got Your Money- Old Dirty Bastard Rockaway Beach- The Ramones 59th Street Bridge Song- Simon and Garfunkel Up In the Sky- Oasis Your Song- Elton John 1-2-3 Slam- Guttermouth
  16. I've just shrugged my shoulders and said, yeah, Sox are terrible this year. Not much more to say.
  17. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) I agree, but him trying to deny being knocked out was quite funny. it was like the Matt Hughes/Carlos Newton finish. Newton had him in a choke while Hughes had him in the air, Hughes basically passed out, when he fell it knocked Carlos Newton out. that's a great finish to a fight.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 11:20 AM) She sings? eh, there's a debate about that. Within the last year she put out this single and a CD, and some other singer claimed it was her voice. I'm a sucker for pop songs, and as lame as it is, IMO, this is a good piece of fluff bubblegum/dance pop.
  19. Lola- The Kinks Homeward Bound- Simon and Garfunkel Rusty Cage- Soundgarden Warning- Green Day Bridge Over Troubled Water- S & G Dr. Feelgood- Motley Crue Stars are Blind- Paris Hilton My Way- Frank Sinatra Higher Ground- Red Hot Chili Peppers War Pigs- Faith No More
  20. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) Couture/Gonzaga in August and Henderson/Rampage in September really has me pumped for the next few UFC shows. Yeah, CCs comeback is scheduled for that September card as well. I'm going to be in Vegas in the Sept one, but it's in England, so it should start 12:00 p.m. Vegas time, that will be sweet. There's also a rumor that Mach Sakuri is going to fight Sanchez (I think on the Aug. card), that will be a solid fight as well
  21. The Ultimate Fighter Finale is on Saturday at 8:00 pm CT on Spike. Main events are the tournament final and a rematch of Penn vs. Pulver. It's free (yes, I know, cable is not free, but it's on basic cable, not PPV). It should be really good, both Penn and Pulver need a win. Friday night is Frank Shamrock vs. Phil Baroni on Showtime PPV. This is a hyped fight, these guys really don't like each other. (Check out the preview show on Showtime, it's hysterical) UFC has some great cards coming up for their PPVs, July 7th is Ortiz vs. Evans, the Debut of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (sp?) vs. Heath Herring, Sean Sherk vs. Franca for the 155lb belt and headlined by the 185lb championship fight of Anderson Silva vs. Marquardt. and the Aug and Sep ppvs are setting up to be sick as well, here's a link to rumors of the upcoming cards. http://www.mmaweekly.com/rumors.asp Finally, a Russian website is reporting that Fedor and the UFC have reached a verbal agreement, so hopefully, IMO, the #1 fighter in the world will soon be in UFC
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 12:12 PM) According to Buster Olney Girardi has turned down the Baltimore managerial position. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2911691 here's the link to the story.
  23. http://www.theonion.com/content/from_print...fielder_dies_of hysterical
  24. i saw on one of the websites (i know, they're not usually reliable) that WWE will watch ratings closely, and if this angle stiffs, they'll wrap it up quickly
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Am I the only one on the planet who does not like Guinness? I like it as part of an Irish Car Bomb, but I don't like to straight up drink one. My friends who took some classes in Ireland said they were suprised how much American beer is bought by the locals
