QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) To watch "Jersey Shore" or to not watch "Jersey Shore", that is the question! I love crap TV on MTV. It's a guilty pleasure. Sue me! I will watch it. The first "Real Life: Jersey Shore" they did with the guy Tommy was easily one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life, although if they film the series tongue in cheek (the producers, not the subjects) it will probably lose some of the comedy, but I will give it a try.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 01:01 AM) Anyone planning on heading out to South Africa in 2010? I have a group of friends that went to Germany and are planning on going to SA, was thinking of going, but one of my best friends is having a destination wedding and I have an opportunity to go to Australia, both trips I will save for over the WC trip at this point -
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) Wait, how we were out ahead of the Peavy stuff? I forget. if memory serves me right it was White Sox Interactive or another site.

The Sox aren't among the super spenders, ie the NYY, NYM, Red Sox and Cubs, but they are still a pretty big payroll team, i believe in the top 10 the last few years. It's not like that money isn't going to be earmarked for either their own players or outside FAs. I imagine the Sox will stay around the area they are as far as payroll goes as we move along. I'm not saying the Sox are in a position where they can't develop their own players, but it's not like they're the Royals either. Some of these scenarios have all veteran/bigger money players leaving and the Sox not signing some or replacing some through trade or FA. The Sox added two big contracts in Rios and Peavy during the season, KW decided to go that route instead of risking the FA pool (I imagine the Hunter situation led him to go that route, the uncertainty of FA), but the Sox basically used and will use all the payroll they had last year.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 09:08 AM) The AFL is for AAA and AA players. I think teams can send like 1 player from the lower levels. It's not at all surprising Mitchell isn't there. Ah, that would make sense since he didn't play above A... is there any plans for him to play anywhere in the offseason? I know he lost a little time at LSU due to football and many people really liked the pick, but said he needed ABs.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 09:08 AM) I would rather we just stop talking about him and forget it. Why give him the satisfaction of knowing there is an entire thread dedicated to him? How about a moratorium on Cow Ley that would be OK with me too.
-
sorry if this has been asked and answered, but why isn't Mitchell playing somewhere or is he and I am completely missing it?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 09:03 AM) Any chance we can split off the 200 Cowleotti bashing posts into another thread so that we can use this one for updates on the trade rumor? I would like that too.

SN: White Sox Show Interest in Henry Blanco
SoxFan562004 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
it will be interesting to see how it shakes out. If the Sox trade Flowers in a deal, not necessarily the A-Gon deal, but something, then Blanco makes perfect sense, or it makes sense if they don't trade him and Flowers will play full time at AAA instead of spot duty in MLB. With AJ you need a veteran catcher who is good defensively and is OK playing 1-2 games a week, which Blanco fits. -

about a week late on this, but big win for Chelsea over Man U since they are going to be at least 2 major players short when the African Nations start, at least they got 3 points over one second place team. Who's going to the Nations for them, Drogba and Anelka?(Sorry if spelling is off) I believe another major player... J. Cole is going to have to step up, but they need to get as many points as they can. -
http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...25&zoneid=2 WEC on tonight. This is a must watch for any MMA fans, hardcore or casual. If you're a casual MMA fan watch WEC, these events usually deliver. The main event is probably the match I have been looking the most forward to out of any the last few months.

I am a huge fan of PK and really like the future potential of Hudson and Flowers, but if those guys leaving equal Gonzalez, then I am down for it. It will take nothing away from what Paulie did for this franchise and team, but Gonzalez at 1st makes this team a lot better
-
Lesnar update from Meltzer: Dana is trying to get him into the Mayo Clinic, he needs surgery, appears to be an intestinal order. White said that his career being over is a "possibility"
-
I'm in the overpay for Gonzalez camp and wary of overpaying for Crawford camp.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 15, 2009 -> 07:20 PM) The main event wasn't all that great, but I thought it was a pretty good card. There were a couple KO's including the one Roli Delgado took which was just sick, plus Hardy showed he was more than the hype taking out Swick. Bisping looked good too. And Matt Brown-James Wilks was a very entertaining fight IMO. You make valid points with Randy, but as long as the commissions sanction him to fight - and because of his age they need to clear him for each individual fight - and as long as he wants to fight and gets offered a spot, I have no problem with it. He's not Saku, I mean Lesnar, Nog, and Vera is an extremely tough string of fights for anyone, and only Lesnar finished him. There are still matchups with Randy that I'd like to see, but he might need to take the Matt Hughes route for a fight or two (Serra and Renzo) before getting another top LHW or HW. And there's always the Kimbo factor too. Randy-Kimbo for no apparent reason would be a huge draw, especially on free TV, and it doesn't harm anything because neither are now nor will be in the title picture. Might as well milk it while you can. I agree, not the greatest card ever, but certainly not terrible.
-
I'm not a huge fan of interim titles either, but I think in the HW situation they should have Cain/Carwin for the interim. Not the greatest two guys prestige wise, but at this point I think to add spice to cards they need to have a HW title being fought for. Meltzer says Big Nog staph isn't terrible and he should be able to fight soon, Lesnar is up in the air as far as career goes, but he didn't want Dana to say anything about mono, so who knows what the mystery illness is... I would guess hepatitis, but that's just a pure guess (Supposedly Aleks E, Fedor's bro, struggles with that, that what keeps him out of the U.S. fights, but that's just pure rumor which is denied by Aleks' people). As far as the main goes, it just solidifies my theory that judges give the nod to initial aggression and control over striking, with that I see how Randy won, there would have to be a push to change philosophy of judging or we are going to continue to see these types of decisions. Hardy impressed me, not that GSP won't eat his lunch, but Hardy did impress me.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) The rumor is Houston Alexander, and if that's true I'm taking Houston. I would to, but it depends how big of a 205'er Houston is. I don't see any way Kimbo could cut to 205, he's 230 and shredded as it is, so if Houston is a light 205'er, say it's a HW fight and Kimbo is 230 and Houston is like 210, then the 20 lbs give him a shot, but everything equal, yeah I would take Houston

http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/jeterde01.shtml BR have Damon as the 8th similar batter to Jeter and they both suck out loud on defense (even as a Jeter hater I will admit he was better this year, but the best in the league as a GG should indicate is a joke). Jeter would be worth more on paper because he plays SS over OF, but then you have to weigh his defense against his offense.

hmmm, I can't explain it to you, but this intrigues me for some reason... http://mmamania.com/2009/11/12/ufc-109-mat...tion-for-feb-6/

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) Anyone think Mitrione bails? I don't think so, I think they would have edited it and promoted it so people knew Kimbo was going to fight again. Yeah, he'll fight in the finale, I imagine they'll try and give him someone he has a great shot of beating so they can put him on another UFN card.

With all of the Flowers trade talk, ..... just wondering
SoxFan562004 replied to balfanman's topic in FutureSox Board
I'm going to be "that guy" on the board, but I've been crazy busy, is the Flowers speculation just people on the board throwing around ideas or have there been reports? -
To me it was a 1-1, I'm not sure how 2 judges saw it 20-18. My best guess about why we see screwy decisions is the "octagon control" aspect of judging. I think some judges only award the initiator of an exchange, even if their opponent gets a little better during a counter... I don't know, just a thought. Also some great news, Spike is showing Kendall Grove vs. Jake Rosholt and Marcus Davis vs. Ben Saunders free before 106. It seems like this is going to be a regular thing, which is great for MMA fans!

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 11, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) what happens if we trade Pauly for pieces but Adrian is traded elsewhere? I would guess KW would make any such PK or similar deal contingent on the Adrian deal, a true 3 team trade... now can those be submitted to MLB as 3 teams, or are they submitted as 2 separate trades?
