the outcome doesn't shock me and I actually support it. The law has a long history of protecting children and others who aren't capable of entering contracts... terrible decision by the Phils to allow that scenario to happen the way it did. I would rather have extreme protections like this that seemingly go over the top to protect people from worse situations.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) His ground game still sucks. It's obvious whoever trained him before didn't even bother with it. In practice, you can see he's learning, but he's still got a ways to go. At his age, not sure if he'll get a whole lot better. it was Bas Rutten, and while he was training with him Bas said positive stuff, but after Bas basically said he didn't work very hard

Urijah Faber reinked with the WEC. It will be interesting if we hear any backstory with him resigning this quickly. He has been very vocal about his pay and lack of exposure of the WEC, with Vs. off Direct TV they must have told him they're expanding or going to stick a fight or two on a UFC card

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 12:53 AM) Nope. I hate Lilly. Acquire a veteran shortstop. Kind of like the one year OC thing, except a guy who isn't a prick. I would take OC back on the team next year and I hope the White Sox would too... he was on the White Sox when they made the playoffs last year playing very good defense and he was on the Twins team contributing something like a 14 game hit streak while the team was chasing down the 1st place team to force a 1 game playoff. Hopefully KW and Ozzie realize there is no such thing as a perfect clubhouse.

Coleman out of his 106 bout with Tito due to a bad knee... no word on a replacement yet.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) I really wonder if we could have an O-Cab type deal. Where we offer Dye ARB, and highly suggest that he not take it. yeah, that will be interesting, I think the Sox would be a little more concerned about that with Dye though after his 2nd half. I don't think they'll offer it to him. Harden as a type B? Well I don't see how the Cubs can even dream of offering him Arb now.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 11:27 AM) I just don't get why they put the strap on taker, when he can't work a full time sched anymore. Also why a world title match was 10 minutes. DX/legacy was prob the best match of the night. I just wish they'd stop playing musical chairs with the world titles, I'm pretty sure that they've changed hands a combined 14 times this year. As usual, these decisions make no sense at all Meltzer is saying Punk is in the doghouse, but it's in the pay section so I can't see why -
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) Rashad-Thiago Silva will be the co-main event for Belfort-Anderson. Two great fights right there. absolutely... HUGE fight for both of those guys.

it's just kind of an example to me of how the world views the U.S. They expect us to support basically everything with our consumers and money, be it from very serious things such as disasters to things like the olympics, but dont dare ask for or expect anything in return. The world still views us as such, even with Barak as president.

Who will get the 2016 Games?
SoxFan562004 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I just have a gut feeling Rio will get it. I'm pretty neutral on the bid for Chicago, but I voted wanting Chicago to get it, leaning more towards that -
http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...87&zoneid=2 well the fight brought the ratings, considering that it was on a basic cable channel that's not common to many people that number is crazy!

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 10:30 AM) So is Kimbo showing any sort of progression that is noticeable? Im seeing a lot of "im impressed with Kimbo" followed by "he got sat on for the whole fight" yeah, I was in the "impressed" camp, but it's not like I think he's going to march towards a title run any time soon. I base it on his stand up looked decent, he actually did a good job for a little of blocking the take down and on his back he struggled overall, but had a real nice attempt or two using the cage as leverage. Again, he has a long way to go and at his age he probably won't get super far, but the guy works and showed a flash or two

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 07:44 PM) I think the Cubs are going to struggle a lot with their pen this year as well as dealing with the pain of having Harden all year. If they were in any other division I would pick a suprise team to beat them out this year, but with that division, Cubs win it in a cakewalk QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 24, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) It doesn't suprise me that they're struggling, just didn't expect a horrible stretch like this. Their pen was shaky, Bradley having to play in the field was a huge risk, Soto was no guarantee to come back as productive as he was, Lee was questionable, Dempster had a career year and now add the injuries they've had it's a perfect storm. With that said, unless the Brewers or the Cards make a big move, the Cubs will be in the race all year. I had some good observances about them along the way! Harden didn't end up hurting them because they got very good SP for most of the year. St. Louis ended up being the team stepping up and adding payroll with DeRosa and Holliday, so that was the mystery team/moves that weren't there at the beginning of the season.

I felt old when I went to my first game in May this year because obviously the raise in parking flew under my radar and when I saw $23 I was outraged. I thought that was a ridiculous jump in cost.

WEC is planning on running a show every month in 2010, so I would imagine they will add a little depth to their roster. Good to hear, the lighter weights usually put on a good show

what trades do you think the Hawk was talking about when he was talking about how Cleveland had some bad ones? The biggest bad moves I could think of were Thome and Manny leaving in FA

I would imagine the USOC isn't thrilled that the top national story this afternoon is the tragic beating death of the 16 year old on the south side. Probably won't be a major factor is Chicago gets it or not, but doesn't put Chicago in the best light. Please note in no way am I minimizing that brutal attack, in fact if the IOC came out and said that was a reason not to award Chicago hopefully it would force some changes, not that I think a scenario like that would play out.

Buentello and Duffee set for 107 and looks like Anderson and Belfort have verbally agreed for a 185 championship match on the 1/2/10 card. The Strikeforce Challengers show was good, they usually are, but unfortunately I don't think too many people are watching them.

And That's a White Sox Winner !
SoxFan562004 replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
posted in the game thread, but worth posting in the winner thread... I was at the game and it was very exciting to see Peavy pitch the way he did against the 1st place team in our division. I am really excited for the rotation next year -
9/25 Detroit Tigers @ Chicago White Sox

Went to the game tonight and was thrilled by Peavy's performance. Gave me great hope for 2010. Just to think that Peavy can be backed by Floyd, Danks and MB. -
Who would you rather see win the AL Central
SoxFan562004 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kind of easy for me. Hate both teams, but hate Minn a lot more since they have some B.S. myth built on a crappy out of date stadium that won't be a factor next year. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 01:39 PM) Why? If something genuinely needs refurbishing some level of the government will wind up stuck with the bill anyway. maybe for a big project, but I'm pretty sure every offseason the Trib had to dump a decent amount of money into it for basic upkeep. I'm believe they footed the bill for all the repairs when the concrete was falling.
