  1. That's not how I read it. There are risks such as injury potentials, high bonus demands, and signability issues such as wanting to play another year in college (which could relate to the signing bonus.) I'm simply not going to buy this logic that higher pick # = less risk for the player.
  2. Wait, what? Now you are arguing rounds? I thought you were arguing for a higher slot. You simply can't say a player has less risk than another player simply because he was drafted higher. That is completely asinine and you know it.
  3. or maybe they should consult with some deaf people to find out which gesture looks the most intimidating.
  4. or Why spend money on one guy who may or may not bomb when we can save it for many, many more scouts who will help us discover talented players?
  5. If Joe Crede has negative value then there is no reason whatsoever to keep him. If the Sox can't trade him, they should non-tender him for the cost of nothing. That is what you are saying.
  6. What difference does draft position make if the organization won't change their philosophy? What is the difference if the White Sox draft Danks 4th or 10th? Oh right, he gets more money.
  7. He'll have more if there wasn't crap surrounding him. We'll see how Dye rebounds next year and what the new 1-2 "punch" in the lineup will be.
  8. Crede is guaranteed $4 million no matter what his situation is. Because of his agent, he's going to ask for a raise. Mark Prior did the exact same thing after last year as well
  9. Oh, so that's how Bukvich keeps his ERA down despite pitching like s***.
  10. So is the tradeoff of stunting his defense for letting him continue to face major league pitching worth it? I say get rid of Crede and quit trying to pencil Fields in left.
  11. How will throwing Josh in LF for one season and then shifting him back to third for Crede's eventual departure (if it doesn't happen after this season) help Fields' development?
  12. Can Vidro still play second? Isn't he a free agent? His power has dipped but he still gets on base at a good rate and doesn't strikeout much which would please Guillen. EDIT: They already locked him up
  13. make it 16. Didn't he get an extension be fore this season as well?
  14. Garland as a starter, year by year, ERA vs. WHIP: 2001: 4.03, 1.65 2002: 4.58, 1.40 2003: 4.51, 1.37 2004: 4.89, 1.38 2005: 3.50, 1.17 2006: 4.51, 1.36 2007: 4.86, 1.39 Draw your own conclusion. I say 2005 was a fluke and Jon Garland is an average pitcher.
  15. Personally I don't want to see the Brewers win. They still haven't had a winning season since 1992. Go Cards!
  16. He has to be me moved this offseason. PERIOD. I rather takes my chances on Contreras and getting a good return for Garland instead of trading Contreras and cash for nothing and putting up with this Judy s*** for another year.
  17. ...and the two hits he has given up were by Sosa. For all the talk they get, Texas sure has an overrated offense. They got no hit by Buherle, destroyed by Bedard at home, and are now being embarrased by Johan.
  18. I don't know where it went either, but I never knew what it was from. Thanks for posting that.
  19. I disagree, he's worse than that. I wonder what he would do over a full season of play. I'm guessing .241/.263/.270 with about 40 Stolen bases which Ozzie would use to justify playing him.
  20. The only thing worse than an 82 winning team making the playoffs is a 100 win team not making the playoffs or a team like the 1990 White Sox team not going despite having the second best record in the American League.
  21. Why would the native Georgian leave the Braves? If you were an average at best player with a few organizations and then all of the sudden you had a great year with the Angels, why would you want to go back to one of your previous teams further away in which you did not succeed in?
  22. It's interesting that Dye is 4th in the AL in homers with 24 especially with A-Rod's monster start. The OF going into next season is a massive hole, but this move helps close it just a little.
  23. Anybody ever gone to a police auction? How about this website http://www.propertyroom.com/ ? (legit?) NSSF72, do you remember any crazy sales on a car or a house?
  24. Not Sox news. There is plenty of Chris Young discussion in the Diamond club forum.
  25. Mets were really stinking it up in the early 2000's. Mariners had a really high payroll the past couple of seasons too.
