  1. Apparently WSI wasn't big enough for two sports editors, but whatever. Charlie Robertson threw a perfect game in a White Sox uniform, How many people are aware of that?
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 11:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Against righthanders those two (if healthy) stand a fighting chance. That's sort of the problem in itself, hoping both Podsednik and Erstad avoid injury. However, late in games and against lefties those two shouldn't even be near each other. Guillen has been pretty good at preventing Pods from seeing LHP by using Pablo, but if its Pods/Erstad, Thome is going to have a ton of walks and a lot less RBI's
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Country thunder as well. If it weren't for the music, I would go to country thunder.
  4. Cotts just gave up a 2 run homer (No comcast here. )
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 12:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I never noticed this, but it's ironic that you have that Earl Weaver quote in your sig yet are a Podsednik lover, seeing that Pods contributes to absolutely none of those. I just thought of the EXACT same thing 30 seconds before I saw your post. Which signing was more pointless; Erstad or Pods?
  6. QUOTE(Andy Frain @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 04:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How likely do you think it is that Mack repeats those numbers? Mack vs. RHP 2006: 201 AB, .308/.384/.453/.837 2005: 394 AB, .272/.336/.396/.732 2004: 430 AB, .258/.337/.447/.784 Take a look at the number of at-bats. If you use him too much he is exposed.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It happened to Reichen Lehmkuhl too. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,26334,1549383,00.html Something tells me that the ultra-conservative, religious type will blame the gays on this one because they allways have a spin with how homosexuals commit all the sexual crimes and how they are obsessed with sex. Even if these two men were straight, the ultra right will still chalk it up against the homosexuals because it was a gay sex act.
  8. I rather have a slouch like Manny Ramirez play at 75% than a crappy or hurt player giving 110%
  9. All Mack does is hit and hit yet he gets blamed for Brian's crap play, our starters sucking, and Ozzie's bad managing. I don't understand why people just want to kick him out the door.
  10. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 01:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Didn't somebody once post our record with him in the OF, and it was scary? That's right, it's all Mack's fault 26-23 (which equates to 86-76 over a full season. SOOO SCARYYYY) When Mack started in CF Sox score_opp score 2_8 5_3 4_2 4_0 9_2 6_5 6_5 4_1 4_5 4_8 5_2 6_1 4_7 9_3 3_2 2_3 7_5 0_5 8_12 8_6 2_6 0_8 8_1 13_5 1_0 7_4 6_5 9_10 4_2 11_15 4_2 6_9 4_6 2_5 5_0 4_7 7_8 6_4 6_5 4_10 4_1 1_7 7_5 4_5 7_8 5_7 3_2 3_4 2_4 Mack is insanely underrated. He had a .384 OBP and .837 OPS against RHP. ...and as I type, he just won the f***ing game off a lefty on the scrubs. :rolly
  11. More play by play please. I'm at work and all I know (according to yahoo) is that Valido gave up a homer to Murton.
  12. GOD, I hate meangingless threes by the losing teams to f*** up the spread.
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think Teahen will get OF elgibility as well which makes him more valuable. OF is the easy spot to fill. Here are all the guys on my team that have OF eligibility: Youk Gomes Duncan Scott Manny Jenkins Freel Gomes, Freel, Duncan, Jenkins and Scott all have drastic LHP/RHP splits so I have a great platoon going. I'm still debating if I should try and trade for Eric Byrnes or pick up Bobby Kielty off waivers.
  14. None. Kids learning about religion in public schools does nothing for our society. The kids should spend another hour with math or grammar. It's more embarrasing to see people not know the difference between "they're," "there," and "their." People should also take a look at the video of Verizon not knowing the difference between .02 cents and .02 dollars. I'm betting those percentages are a lot greater than 15.
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 05:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And better defensively (at least according to Tango's 2006 Scouting Report). And younger. If Iguchi's agent asked for three years at $5 million per, I'm fairly certain that David Hahn or Kenny Williams would walk out of the room laughing. 3/$4 seems more reasonable, but even that might be a little high. Roberts only has one year that really stands out. Durham got plenty of money this offseason despite being 35 years old. I think $15 million over 3 years is fair.
  16. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 01:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I actually think it'll be Orton, as I think they're going to try to build him up this year close to what he was a few years ago. The Carlito/Flair match was very good, and you can't fault him for losing to Lashley - Bobby is a champ, and in the most touted match on the WM card. Orton will move into a feud w/ Edge, turn babyface, and if this all succeeds, will challenge for the belt around Survivor Series time. Unless he really catches fire, and they can stretch it to next Mania, which I doubt. Either that or Kennedy, but I think he needs a little more seasoning. For the record, I'll be rooting for Punk. On the first episode of the WSX marathon last night, there was a fan in the front row wearing a black AJ Pierzynski jersey or shirt. Was that you?
  17. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Four whole baserunners over the course of 1 year. Wow. You're right. Didn't realize it was so significant. Makes you look smarter to start name calling when you don't have an argument though. I have an argument why Floyd won't be as good as Garcia and why the trade sucked, yet all you keep coming back with is "well you can't see the future." For Floyd to have a WHIP of 1.3, he would have to cut back by .58 from last season. It's not happening. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Uh, no. I'd say the trade sucked. Just like the Ritchie trade or any other similar trade. I've said it over time. I'm not not saying the Floyd trade is a good one, but everybody is saying it is not a good trade when the dude hasn't even pitched for our team yet. It's ridiculous. ....and you still don't get it. It's not all about how Floyd will perform. We didn't get enough back for Garcia. If it was Floyd + Gonzalez + someone else of name, it'd be a better trade, perhaps a good one. Floyd could pitch better than expected, and still suck. Floyd could be a decent pitcher, but the Sox still don't win enough games because he wasn't good enough. Most people are convinced that Garcia will be better than Floyd next year, and they should be.
  18. .02 in WHIP is very significant. Give it a rest already Hawk Jr.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 06:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LOL. Either Floyd or Danks putting up a 4.50 ERA with 1.30 whip is like Brian Anderson hitting 50+ homers? LOL. I'll go out on a limb and assume you weren't serious Keep Danks out of it. KW did not trade Garcia to get Danks. KW did not trade Garcia with the idea of trading for Danks. Yes I highly doubt Floyd can put up a 4.5 ERA, and Garcia hasn't had a 1.30+ WHIP since 2003.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Doesn't Gillick owe us after the awful Garcia trade? KW made Philly look silly with the Thome trade, and if it's true they'll toss in more cash if/when Thome's option is picked up, it just gets better.
  21. Brian Anderson will have more homers than David Ortiz this year. Prove me wrong jphat. HOW DO YOU KNOW HE WONT? Maybe, maybe not.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 06:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How do you know that either Danks or Floyd won't outperform Garcia this year. You are speaking in a lot of absolutes considering nobody has thrown a pitch this season. Danks has NOTHING to do with the Garcia trade, although if the Sox would rather save face, Floyd's sucky ass will be blocking Danks. Garcia has proven himself over the AL, is IN A CONTRACT YEAR, and was working on a new pitch (ala Esteban Loaiza in 2002.) Floyd bombed out in Philly and AAA last season. There's a reason why I should doubt him having success in the AL this year. Philly viewed Floyd the same way the Sox organization and fans viewed Jon Rauch after he left that Saturday game early back in 2004.
  23. QUOTE(VAfan @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When this trade was made, I wondered why. And now that we've added other power arms for the bullpen and Aardsma is getting rocked, I am really wondering why. Cotts lost considerable luster last year, but he saved our butts at critical moments in our WS run. What has Aardsma ever done? The only time I've seen him pitch was the ST game against the Cubs this year, and he looked like the worst guy we trotted out that day (though Haeger had no control). Was this trade a big mistake? Discuss. Well it appears you can't have much of an opinion on this because you admitately said you've only seen him once, and it was a ST game. Cotts sucked, and if it's true that he can refuse a minor league assignment because he's been on the major league roster for 3 consecutive seasons, the Sox can't do anything with him. At least Aardsma can be sent down, he has a live arm (he had the highest average fastball based on speed for the Cubs last year,) and as a righty he was tough on lefties last year.
  24. LOL. I'm glad at least two other people are thinking on the same page as me. The Sox had no use for Borchard. The Sox could use Garcia right now.
  25. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 06:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Many people thought Joe Borchard for Matt Thornton was a stupid trade. COnsidering none of the pitchers involved have thrown a pitch for their new teams, you might be jumping the gun. Who thought that was a stupid trade? We traded a guy out of options for another guy without any options. It was a low risk trade. Are you honestly trying to compare Garcia to Borchard? We didn't need another OF coming into 2006. We need another SP going into 2007, and Floyd isn't the person.
