Sox v. Rangers, 3:00 Start, 3/25/07
santo=dorf replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2007 Season in Review
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you saying that you think Erstad will do a good job, or that moving runners over will be overrated? I just want to be able to provide people with an exact number. I just hate it when people have a CFSE by using a selective memory. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So, who wants to keep track of every called 3rd strike, pick-off/caught stealing, and ground out to 1B by Pods this year? I plan on keeping track of Erstad's and Podsednik's at-bats and results just so at the end of the year when people say "how many times did Erstad move the runner over when we needed him to?" I can give an actual figure. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kansas loses, as predicted. I mean, really, how could anyone pick a Bill Self team to go to the final 4? Jimbo probab;y had them posting a shut out in the title game. -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 07:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No he didn't, IIRC. Well you don't RC. January 14, 2001: Traded by the Toronto Blue Jays with Matt DeWitt to the Chicago White Sox for Kevin Beirne, Brian Simmons, Mike Sirotka, and Mike Williams (minors). It was KW's first "big" move.

QUOTE(gosox41 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Id you are saying KW knowingly traded an injured player for whatever he can get, then his rep is all but shot and few GM's will deal with him. Bob He traded Sirotka for Wells and people still deal with him "His other arm is OK."

Not to be the bad guy here, but if you allow something as little as this to happen, it's going to open up the floodgates for other stuff. This has been going on for a long time in sports.

QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 05:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> other league gets to go first though, iirc. thus nl last to first then al last to first. no, it's the same league first.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Garret Atkins hit it over the batter's eye in center field. Floyd walked Matsui to load the bases, this followed a throwing error of his on a bunt back to the mound by Willy Tavares. Excellent. Atkins is the man ($1 keeper in my league,) and Floyd can go to hell. How fast until someone brings up KW's quote of "not trading a SP unless it helps the 2007 team" once Floyd gets sent down?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 04:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Grand slam...ouch Who hit it, and were there any walks involved?

How fast does Danks work, and what is his delivery like?

Would you make this trade with the Phillies ?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's actually a pretty decent comparison, Clement makes $9.5M a year ($2M more than lieber), is younger and just as useless, Crisp on the other hand is a much better fit for the Sox than Rowand since the presence of Crisp would make Podsednik expendable (not that he isn't already). With that said, it would never happen for many reasons mainly because KW wouldn't do it. Except Lieber will throw a pitch before the All-Star game. -
QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As someone who deals with the sale of alcohol, I have a few observations. If Tony was asleep, I am stunned and amazed that he blew .093. I would figure he'd be about .14 or worse at that point. He clearly had no business behind the wheel of a car. From what I read, Tony was sleeping at 12:30 and blew while at the police station at 4 AM. That's 3.5 hours of sobering up.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 01:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Chad Bradford. You all disappoint me greatly. OK easy one to get you f***tards in the win column: Who am I? Carlos Lee

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 12:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No one has even come close. He once played for the Sox. That's your clue. You're welcome. First instinct told me Chris Widger.

I drafted Carlos Villanueva but I forgot about Claudio Vargas blocking him. If/when Sheets goes down, he'll step in. I also plan on using Luke Scott of the Astros against in a platoon this year (Killed RHP last year.)

I would like some clarification on this, but Gene Honda Civic said Cotts can refuse his assignment to AAA because he was on a major league roster for 3 full, consecutive seasons.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 12:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> the problem is that much of our work force is in no way ready to do high tech jobs. our education systems sucks at teaching the mathematical and engineering sciences. we have to bring in people from other countries to do a lot of high paying engineering and computer work. So how come all the kids in my classes in college were Asian and Indian? Or were you talking about our lower level education systems?

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 04:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Perez could help us a hell of a lot more vs LHP than Terrero could, but I'm sure Ozzie wouldn't use him right anyways. Like some others have mentioned, Pods is such a waste of a roster spot. Fathom, I'm curious for your opinion on this; who is the bigger waste of a roster space; Pods or Erstad?

Just watched Donnie Darko (the director's cut) for the first time, and I was very impressed.

How about we practice what we preach and seperate state from religion? I don't think not paying attention to something is "ignorant," and there are more important things students should learn in school other than religion.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 05:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For the last 2 years our O has litteraly died in the 2nd half. Our overall numbers for the year look good because of a strong start. So if they litteraly (sic) died in 2005, how would it be possible for them to die in 2006? How did the Royals get that 4th run? Erstad is a joke. He might actually bat .300, and still have a ~.675 OPS
