  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 05:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How long before the rumors start up about the Sox making a run at Garcia when he's a free agent? If Philly is out of it (doubt it) or they still have six starters lying around, I could see the Sox making a move for Garcia in June.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 05:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How do you know that wasn't the best available package? When Ken Rosenthal is quoting MLB Executives, I'm going to take his word for it. Rosenthal was on top of everything this offseason. I believe Jayson Stark quoted executives for not beliving the Sox couldn't get more. The day he traded Freddy, Schmidt, Lilly, and Meche all signed deals. We traded a our second best starter (behind Contreras) last year, who was coming off a phenomenal September after using a new pitch (similar to Loaiza in 2002) for a small, former Sox farm hand and a guy who flopped in both AAA and the NL last year with one option left. 2007 Garcia + two compensation picks > Gonzalez and Floyd. Stupid trade.
  3. The write in team. Kansas won't have enough time to prepare for them.
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can't say I'm sad to see it. I wanted to face him, of course nobody ignites the Cleveland offense like Cliff Lee,
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 09:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Its pretty incredible to me how Danks is now the chosen one on this board after 6 innings of spring training pitching. I realize that Floyd probably isn't any good and apparently the White Sox have some sort of reluctance with Haeger. I think if you threw any of the 3 into the 5th spot, Haeger at the end of the year would have the best numbers, but I'm not sure if they would be good enough. Hopefully KW is working the phones for a stop gap. You should also take into consideration how Danks was originally another organization's top pitching prospect, so apparently he's less likely to suck

Saw it last night and thought it was very good. I thought Downey Jr was good too, and there were a few when I said to myself "He's not doing much acting here."
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It looks like the only way Perez makes it is if Anderson is sent down, but then we wouldn't have a backup centerfielder other than Mack, which is apparently not an option. Unless they trade Mack or Pods which is not going to happen. It's too bad Perez can't play a little bit of outfield and Mack was better in center. It would be great to have Perez bat in the lineup against lefties. Or if Pods starts the year on the DL.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 05:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Masset seems like one of those guys who looks great when he's just throwing to the catcher on the side. However, as his numbers in the minors show, he struggles to actually get hitters out. I hope KW didn't make a mistake by putting so much stake into winter league numbers. ....aside from the You Tube clip from the Rangers TV show on Fox sports, have you ever actually seen Masset pitch?
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are three games televised next week. One more on MLBTV next Sunday. No way he avoids pitching all of these days. Judging from his stats, he hardly appears ready for the majors. Although I'm not sure how hard he's throwing or what pitches he's using. ...and judging by Boone's stats, he appears ready for the major. God, spring training is annoying.
  10. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Meanwhile Danks threw 3 innings today and only gave up 2 hits. 1.50 era now I'm part of his crew.
  11. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think the problem is that the government is doing this for no good reason. We gave the FBI the right to use it in specific circumstances and the law has simply been ignored. I have no faith that our Government is spying on us for 100% good reasons. You just KNOW there's some jealous bastard looking up his ex-wife's new hubby. Even if it's just one case, it's still illegal and morally wrong.
  12. The Sox wouldn't unload Manuel after 2002 (throughout the season they got rid of just about everyone else) when he had two years left on his contract after not getting the Sox to "point C." I highly doubt they would get rid of a very charasimatic manager who has two 90+ win seasons and a WS title under his belt with 2 years left on his contract.
  13. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 06:13 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nice Car!! Sorry about your small penis. I Kid Because I Care® Thankfully I'm less than half irish, otherwise I would have BIG problems. Or would it be samll(er) problems?
  14. Refinance, seriously. I didn't have enough credit to get my own loan for my Corvette for $30,000, but the dealer ship said they could probably get me 11%. I had my mom co-sign the loan with my credit union and by being a long time customer and using direct deposit, I have a 6.65%. My payment is $713 a month (4 years) but I keep paying off more than I need to. In fact yesterday I put $4500 towards it and I am now down to $16.7 k. Not too shabby considering I got the loan last April.
  15. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 10:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Right. He won the division 4 out of the last 5 years with one of the lowest payrolls in the league. Not to mention the AJ trade to SF, possibly one of the best/worst trades ever. The twins have an organizational mentality that starts in low A and works its way to the majors. I hate them for many reasons, but respect the hell out of them at the same time. Ryan should be fortunate the Twins organization was so patient. No doubt it is paying off, but it took a ton of time. I can only imagine the reaction of this board if the Sox had about 10 straight 90 loss seasons. The GM would be grilled after two seasons. As for the AJ trade, don't underestimate the stupidity of Brian Sabean. However Ryan and Co get full credit for Liriano because Sabean claims they specifically asked about him.
  16. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How the hell Terry Ryan came in so low I'll never know. He's the best in MLB. Where was he during the first 10 years of his duty? Last year the Twins didn't take off until they dumped the dead weight that people KNEW were crappy signings (Loshe, Bautista, Juan Castro, and White got hurt.) Ok, but this is not September 2004, this is March 2007. Some of the events that have occured since the time frame you mentioned include KW putting together a team that dominated an enitre season and won the World Series and Hendry putting out a 6th place team with a $100 million payroll.
  17. I wish Stone Cold would have stunned Joe Crede.

  19. Some Sox were just shown on ECW. They are in Tuscon tonight.
  20. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 07:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Javier's games in which he got massive run support: June 25th against Houston. 10-9 loss (ND) . 9 earned runs and 10 hits in 6 innings pitched. Iguchi almost wins it by himself despite that. July 30th at Baltimore. 8-7 loss (ND) . Sox break a 2 all tie to take a 4-2 lead in the top of the 6th inning, Baltimore takes a 5-4 lead in the bottom half because Vaz implodes. So there were 5 games in which he got massive run support, and the team goes 2-3. You're kidding about the Astros game right? Almost all those runs came in the 9th well after Javy left. If the Sox scored those runs earlier in the game and Vazquez blew it, you'd have a better point. Jenks blew that Baltimore game BTW. Vazquez was also screwed of run support in his first start of the season against the Royals 7 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 7 K's. Sox lose 4-3. Not so even now, is it?
  21. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 09:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Here's how the Sox prospects stack up in the Rotoworld top 150. Sweeney - 23 Danks - 36 Fields - 39 Gonzalez - 78 Haeger - 81 Masset - 109 Broadway - 137 Surprisingly, the Sox (7) trail only the Devil Rays (11) and the Rockies (8) in number of prospects in their top 150. We're tied with the D'backs, Yanks, and Twins. Of course, that doesn't say anything about the comparative quality of those 'spects. For all those lamentors, Chris Young is #5. FWIW- Brian Anderson was ranked #30 last year. link: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/features/...articleid=27859 Where's flash and gosox41 to put the spin on this one? I didn't really such a s***ty farm system could be ranked third in the number of quality prospects.
  22. Not surprise to see TAPOS Rich Hill make our Minor leaguers (including Anderson) look bad and get taken deep my our major league guys. Maybe those losers northsidebaseball will let go of TAPOS' jock for one second and show Ozzie a little more respect.
  23. With his ego I don't think he'll be happy when he can't be at both a cubs and Mavs game in the same day.
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Reinsdorf does it, doesn't he? I was thinking more of the fact one team is in Dallas and one is in Chicago.
