  1. I wish Wing nothing but the best of success in Oaktown.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 10:11 AM) LOL. I gave Gage the whole story last night. I think she's the right kind of crazy. We'll see. My girl on the other hand....may fall out of equilibrium on the crazy/hot scale. She's ridiculously hot, but she's also ridiculously crazy and stupid.
  3. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 07:14 AM) You blow her up from the smallest opening, and what you put in the other openings is up to you.
  4. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 08:14 AM) mlbtraderumors has an article up that said the Sox were going to trade Carter for Otsuka, but KW nixed the deal after looking at his medical records. Thank god. After hearing that, I wouldn't be shocked if he took a flyer on Otsuka now that he didn't have to give up anything but a one year contract with an option.
  5. Keith, please drop the attitude.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 03:16 PM) Yes, let's not forget the fact that we have a payroll over $100M. As for Stewart, if he could play CF, he wouldn't be the worst option. But I'd much rather Quentin in LF and Owens / FA in CF instead of Stewart in LF and Owens / FA in CF. And that's of course if we do decide to make an acquisition for CF to upgrade over Owens, because there's not a whole lot left out there. Quentin is a better bet to play CF than Stewart. I really don't even consider Stewart a viable defensive option in left (he makes Pods look good in the field).
  7. Linnecum for Konerko. Sign me up.
  8. Good lord...Kobe's wife.. EWWW Eva is sexy.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) I'm so happy Roberts was in this report. Have fun planning that trade now Cubbies. Realistically it could lower his trade value and allow the Cubs to get a pretty solid player for a lot less. The O's had a lot of players associated with steroids so I'm guessing they will try to do the PR thing and get rid of a chunk of them. I wouldn't have a problem picking up Roberts. Heck out of all the names on the list, the evidence against him wasn't near as incriminating as everyone else. It sounds like he tried it and that was it.
  10. QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) <!--QuoteBegin-spataro51+Aug 20, 2005 -> 06:47 PM-->QUOTE(spataro51 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) <!--QuoteEBegin-->perfectly said rex! my god some people just jump on others for the littlest things like they are so much better then others. people need to learn to relax. Sorry, spataro, but what you did was repeat a rumor that two very prominent players would be suspended for steroid use, and you named names. That post you made was spread throughout the Internet (I've seen the links to Soxtalk) and may very well have been the source for further reports on radio, etc. Roger Clemens is one of the three greatest pitchers in the history of the Major Leagues. If you were a journalist making that report, you'd be subject to a libel claim - that's not the "littlest thing." I just want to point out where there is smoke their is fire. I never had any knowledge of the press conference but I certainly had some knowledge as to the rumblings that Clemens was a roider. I know others with inside info did as well. I guess now people finally get to see that there was no big smoke screen, rather it just took a lot longer than anyone anticipated to come out. One thing about Soxtalk is that there are some members with some pretty interesting connections and it is awesome that some of those people from time to time get information that isn't widely known and are willing to share it. It is our job to do our best to try and filter what is true and what isn't (we typically verify stuff to make sure as best we can the member has legitimate knowledge/connections and go about things that way) and as long as it fits our little sniff test than it is out there for people to read.
  11. So was Damon officially on the list as well? I'm so writing a letter to SI for them to say....2 years later...they were RIGHT!!!!
  12. First off, I want to say welcome aboard!!!! As far as Stewart goes I got to be honest, I wouldn't have though of him and I really don't prefer someone like him but there is no denying that when he is healthy he is a productive player. My main question is whether you can really expect him to stay healthy. Everyone knows he is a suspect left fielder (defensively speaking) and last season was his first truly healthy season in a couple years. I'd be all about him if he played CF, which is the Sox bigger need, but Carlos Quentin is the guy I expect to play LF and because of that I'd give a pass on Stewart (although for the money it isn't a bad idea, cause I'm sure he won't cost a ton and would take a 1 yr deal). Bottom line there are just better, younger fits out there (who hopefully play CF), but in a worse case scenario I think it is still an upgrade over Pods/Erstad.
  13. Thank you Big Frank...Thank You!!!!!!
  14. QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 12:08 PM) frank thomas's odds of being elected to the hall of fame just went up alot imo.... He should be first ballot. It is pretty evident that practically any player that actually had better offensive seasons in the past 5-10 years were using performance enhancing substances. I've been known to rip Frank but he deserves a lot of love for being an ethical ball player and one of the most amazing offensive players to ever play the game (I'm going to start saying that a lot because Thomas' accomplishments were really lessened by the results of the steroid driven players).
  15. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 12:05 PM) Remove Sammy Hagar. NEVER trust wikipedia on breaking stories. They have to calm down for a few days to limit junk posts. Fixed. I was looking there and another spot and hte list for the most part looked consistent and it was in nice easy to copy format.
  16. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 11:57 AM) Brian McNamee will be targeted for character assassination since he's only associated with two names, and two big names at that. Good luck with that happening. Everyone close to the organization, including people in the media, know just how tight mcNamee was with Roger and everyone knows how tight Pettite and Roger are. The stuff in there is pretty damn concrete if you ask me and I'm glad to see Roger finally paying the price. He deserves as much s*** as Barry has gotten over the years. In fact he deserves it times 10 since Barry has had to put up with about 6 years of it by now (deservingly so for the most part). Barry Bonds isn't any different than Rocket....whooo. I still would pay money to see either of them play the game at there prime though
  17. I updated the thread and if anyone is interested you can go to the first page and see a listing of all the players listed in the report. Let me know if there are any names that need to be added/removed.
  18. Is their any complete list of the players out there yet? Or will it take a bit for someone to actually read through the report and give us a complete straight out listing of each player. That stuff on Clemens is pretty ridiculous. Of course I still think he's a first ballot hall of famer since I probably considered him a HOF prior to when he started taking roids (back with the Blue Jays).
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 09:38 AM) If the team though his back could recover from the surgery, I'd certainly be happy with him taking that last spot on our 40 man. But I can imagine he'll probably want a place where he has a chance to start, and he might well get it. Let's say he has a 10% chance of a full recovery to where he was his last year in the minors...that gives us a 10% chance of having a replacement for Thome next year. That's the kind of gamble the Sox should be taking to get out of this hole quickly. The thing is it gives you options because it also means if you get zero production out of one of your outfield spots you can slide Fields out there and go with McPherson. Basically you are able to get a top prospect for nothing because of all the questions surrounding him and in this instance none of those questions involved character issues. I see no reason why you don't do it, especially for a team who could be out of things by June/July (I know Kenny doesn't want to think that but it is a possibility) and at that point they'd likely be selling vets anyway and that alone would open up a spot for McPherson.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 09:36 AM) Just think of how many balls would wind up plunking AJ during the year. Haha.
  21. Nah, not a fan of Donnelly.
  22. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 06:52 AM) I would take a flyer on him. Kiko Calero too I have no clue what he has done in Oakland or what his health status is, but that is a guy I really like when he's healthy. Good arm with some nice sinking action to his pitches.
  23. He's not good defensively but if he gets healthy he can slug 30-40 HR's (I still believe that). I'd be all over signing him and having him as a backup plan for if Fields goes (plus you could ocassionally DH him and play him at 1st).
  24. Holy crap, there were some names on there that came as a surprise to me. Bagwell, I know he looked the part but for some reason I didn't know if he did or didn't. This is awesome, going to get me through the day at work.
  25. I just want to say that this report is going to be better than expected since not only is the Mets guy giving up names but you have the Yanks Strength and Conditioning coach giving out names and saying he supplied Clemens with roids. I just want to see SI run a reprive where they can say Soxtalk.com was one of the first to break the news about Clemens roid use Also, I'm going to move this thread to the PHT thread. I just know a few Sox players will be in it and its such major news that I'm going to pin it over there. Plus it will keep us distracted from the Sox inactvity (heck, maybe we'll get all excited about the inactivity because some of the guys the Sox were after end up being on the list).
