ST On the Air: Sox Slug it Out With the Cubs...
Chisoxfn replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 22, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) I'll be back to listening and commenting on the show next week. Though, I'm still saying a lot here for not even hearing this week. Mario gives me the silent treatment after my take (if it makes you feel any better). But Greasy, I will give you one update Mario made sure to bring up...the Rockies are back in 1st place. :headshake -
ST On the Air: Sox Slug it Out With the Cubs...

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 22, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) Just as you are to west coast sports, Boz is to Buehrle, I'll always be that way with Frank. If that's a flaw, so be it. I've been on this rant all season here, but Cheat and Sox Machine coined it perfectly, 'so what?' I'll never deny that Frank wasn't exactly a god with words; he was probably too honest at times. He never seems to take the poltically correct route but ends up being blunt/honest. That's definitely hurt his stature and opinion with fans. Frank's the greatest player the franchise has ever seen, and I feel he's a huge reason the Sox have been a consistent contender year in and year out, the past decade and a half. Without Frank, there wouldn't have been much reason to build on anything. Frank was just upset that he was not brought back to the only franchise he knew. I'm not suggesting he should be here, but I can't be mad at that. I just feel that the Sox' greatest hitter, a future HOFer deserves a standing ovation from the one franchise that he earned all those accolades from. I totally understand and to each his own. I am sure If I were at the game I'd do the same (despite saying I wouldn't, but peer pressure is a b****). I did give Frank a pretty good cheer when I was in Anaheim and the A's played the Angels. And I hope he doesn't get booed...that I know. It would be a sad day in Chicago if that were to happen. And I'm glad a lot of fans will get teary eyed and really give him a great ovation (even though I'd have given just a few claps at the most). I know whenever I see Rowand play next and I'm at the stadium (same goes for Carl and all the guys that were a part of the 05 team, I'll make sure to give them a damn good ovation). Oh and next weeks show will be about the minor leagues a bit more so than the prior shows (special guest host to join us...maybe even two special guest hosts). -
This was a good episode. Didn't see the preview cause my tivo cut off. Didn't realize the season is already over (well I guess 1 episode left).

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 22, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) Oh God, I've been mentioned. Does this mean I'm big time? No, no it doesn't. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 22, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) I'm not going to get myself worked up about that topic, so I'm going to skip out on this week's episode. Unacceptable...haha. I do call Frank a hall of famer and the greatest White Sox player of all time. I just will never forget the fact that he said he would never have thrown out the first pitch had he known the Sox weren't going to bring him back. Thats utterly classless in my mind and it was the classless event in a long line of classless events that put things over the top for me. It sucks cause for a long time Frank was my favorite ball player ever. When I was a wee lad me and my friends would always debate who was better and no matter how wrong I was, I'd always say Thomas was better than Griffey (cause the Big Hurt was the man in my book; of course I always though Hawk and Whimpy called him the Big Hertz - thats cause I thought he killed the baseball, not just hurt it). QUOTE(Steff @ May 22, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) Though it is more fuel for the "jason is crazy" movement. Some people's crazy is another persons "genius". People also thought I was crazy when I said the Tigers were the team to watch out for in the division QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 22, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) Good job guys. And Gage, I guess great minds think alike when it comes to Thomas. -
QUOTE(fathom @ May 22, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) The only long reliever in baseball I would trade Fields for is Scot Shields. Since the Angels won't be trading him, I'd much rather hold on to Fields. I'd rather deal him for Bradley Lidge But Shields is another guy that could become available (since the Angels SUCK).

QUOTE(JimH @ May 22, 2006 -> 09:41 AM) To me, Mackowiak is serviceable out there but that's it. His best position is RF from what I've seen. If the White Sox have to live without Anderson's defense for any length of time it will cause a problem. On the Cotts issue, I agree with Mike up to a point. Absolutely correct the defense let him down and after closely looking at the triple I believe it's a play Anderson would've made. However every major league pitcher will at one time or another have to pitch over mistakes. Unfortunately Neal had to pitch over one glaring mistake (the botched DP) and the arguable mistake (Mack not catching the triple and/or Guillen not having Anderson out there for defense). Technically his job isn't over until he gets out of the inning ... fair or unfair. It is unfair to him that he has to get extra outs due to shaky defense but then again this team should be able to count on him vs. a Jacque Jones. I didn't think the pitch to Barrett was that bad, Barrett went out and got it. The pitch to Jones was up and out over the plate though, and if anyone should have a good scouting report on Jacque Jones, it's the White Sox. Cotts himself admitted it was a bad pitch.

Official Cheer Frank Thomas Tomorrow Thread
Chisoxfn replied to GoRowand33's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Personally speaking...instead of cheering for Frank, I'd just cheer for every Sox player that actually helped us get to the World Series. I wouldn't boo Frank, but I wouldn't give him an ovation either. -
Bruce Levine speculates about Cubs suspensions

Are the Cubs suspensions actually official? I don't see them anywhere on the web. -
QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:51 AM) I think Montero will go down instead of Logan, but that's just me. I agree. The weird thing is that Jeff Nelson has been deactivated in Charlotte (well he's inactive). So I'm wondering if thats a sign he's about to join Chicago or if he is giving up or what. Montero down, Logan down, Lopez or Nelson back up.

DJ = awesomness....some of you are just figuring this out a little later than others

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 20, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) 20 is seriously excessive, they would never go that high. He'll get around 10, AJ will not get 5 for doing nothing, he'll get 2 tops if anything at all. BA will get 5 and I'm not really sure about Mabry. AJ and Mabry shouldn't get any, however they may each get 1 game. BA could get as many as 7, probably more like 4 or 5 (especially after they appeal); Barret at the most 3-4 more than BA.
-
QUOTE(SnB @ May 20, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) you can see AJ try and go around him. I really think barrett thought AJ was coming after him for whatever reason, and that's how he responded. In the heat of the moment, I could see that and thats why the two bump into each other, but AJ never showed any indication of swinging so Barret jumped the gun. Do I need to add that I LOVE AJ.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 19, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) Exactly right. Key inning here. Yep, when your team gets runs its always key for the pitcher to come out the next inning and shut the opponent down. Real nice inning there. Maddux is struggling with his command and the Sox batters haven't been chasing his offspeed pitch down near the dirt. Because of that he's being forced to elevate his pitches and that means he's getting hit. Weird on Crede there. -

Quick game thus far -
Ya that new poll interface is pretty sweet. The final part of our upgrade will happen sometime next week and there will be a minimal outage (if all goes as planned) and than we will be set for a while.
-
I'll throw it in here, but the 2nd part of our upgrade will happen next week and the outage may just last about 15 minutes (if all goes as planned).

Thats a quick 1-2-3 inning. -
Why not bring a sign that says something. Such as: I just wanted to see what it felt like to be a loser.
