QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:01 AM) I'll name a few, once people start naming some more I'll remember more. Little Mosters Richie Rich Little Big League Rookie of the Year(I dont care if it was Cubs, I LOVED that movie) Home Alone You got to include sandlot. And yes, I too absolutely loved Rookie of the Year. I think the only movie I liked more was Sandlot. That movie was just awesome cause it was a lot like the way me and my buddies were when it came to playing baseball as kids. Never was a big Richie Rich fan, although I saw the movie. But the others rank highly along with Red Dawn for me. I freaking loved that movie. 3 Ninja's and Ninja Turtles were also on that list and I must admit I think I saw Sidekicks a few times (with the Great Chuck Norris). Oh and I loved almost all Steven Siegal movies (especially Under Siege).

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 08:46 AM) Talking about "it" reminded me that while me and my friends were shopping yesterday, we saw the movie "little monsters" on sale on DVD. I haven't seen a mention of this movie in like 10 years, but I remember watching it a ridicuous amount of times growing up. What a weird movie, anyone remember it? Ya, must have watched that movie 10 or 15 times when I was a kid.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) Funny you mention IT. It's one of the few horror movies which legitimately scared me growing up. I've always felt the films which seemingly attach horrifying circumstances with people I could connect to are most freighening. Don't know what it is about the Exorcist--perhaps the location in Georgetown, or how the possession didn't really kill anyone (unless you count the Priest.), but it never had the effect on me other films did. Three movies, reflecting on my childhood, absolutely terried me: Candyman, IT, Pet Sematary. Haha, Candyman and It are the two that stand out to me from my childhood. It more so than any of the others. Exorcist was later on but got me. Definately understand why the Exorcist may not get some though for the exact reasons you say. One movie I've been meaning to see that I've heard is scary as hell is the Omen. I've seen bits and pieces of it before, but never the whole thing. Oh and the worse horror movie I ever saw was Blair Witch. I have no idea how, but everyone in my high school was going around saying it was the scariest movie ever and there were stories of kids our age walking out of the movie. In fact while watching it two people next to us got up and left all scared, but how anyone thought that was scary is beyond me. Awful and naushus is all I could think of when it comes to that piece of garbage.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) I can't see five Valley teams getting in. There are too many games left plus the tournament. At least one of those teams will weed themselves out. The other thing the Valley will have to watch is the Big 10. If Michigan or IU keeps diving, both of them could find themselves on the outs (both teams were pretty much locks a week or so ago). Than you have Wiscy who may have found its stride. The Big 10 could get 1 or 2 less teams due to a late collapse opening things up. Than again you have the Big 12 and Kansas stepping up and potentially a team like the Aggies and of course CU. So other teams will find a way in. It was big that the Zags beat Stanford since Stanford right now is a team on the bubble (that said I expect them to finish strong and get in). -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) I'd love to see Duke and Gonzaga play. I'd love to see Redick and Morrison light it up, going back and forth. Both of those guys just find ways to get the ball in the hole and are damned impressive in doing so. Also, I know I will get fried for this, but I enjoyed Vitale tonight. He was much more subdued tonight than when he broadcasts an ACC or Big Ten game. He left a lot of his schtick at home and I thought he was good. ` Agreed. I think he gets too crazy when it comes to ACC games, but against the Zags it seemed like a different atmosphere for him and it left him a little less subdued and a whole lot more entertaining. I also think it would be fun to see a Redick/Morrison match up. Of course I think Duke would win simply because they are more suited to play some defense. -
USA has quite a bit of talent. They will be losing some of the long time leaders from the prior cup teams, but at the same time we will be stepping up a notch in terms of talent and some of our younger players who excelled in the world cup last year (it was some of those guys coming out parties) will be a little more seasoned and ready. Plus we have some of the best goalkeeping in the world, in fact, I think aside from Germany we have the best goal keeping in the world.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) So with the Bears win over UNI, there is now a real possibility the valley can get 5. We're going to have 5 in the top 35 in rpi for sure come tomorrow and maybe 5 in the top 30 depending on how far Missouri State jumps up. I believe in like the last 10 years, the highest rated rpi team to be left out is 34. I'm rooting for the Valley to get 5 teams in. I think all of those teams are capable of beating one of the teams from the major conferences. Hell, they've already proven it since quite a few teams in the valley have wins over major conference teams like Iowa, Indiana and others. I think one of my favorite things about college basketball is seeing the upsets in the tourney and seeing how far those cinderella's can go (well aside from watching my team play a game or two in the tourney; Hopefully). Iowa was #9 in RPI this week. My guess is they will stay around that area despite a loss to NU (thanks to the road win against IU). -
That looks pretty boss.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 12:05 PM) Anyone know how to remove the spyware named isearch Desktop search? It hijacks your browser and brings you to advertisements. This older version of Spysweeper doesn't remove it in full. There's actually a file that gets downloaded into your programs that needs to be removed. Its hard to remove though and you actually got to download something to get rid of it. I had something very similar to what you had. It would always give me advertisments on IE (even when I freaking shut IE down). Took me a while and basically myself clearing out every damn file I had not scene before (one of which happened to be my sound card driver and DVD Codecs, but I was able to fix that). If you google it you can probably find what the exact programs you need to remove are. I had a few different ones that ended up causing it all (it won't just allow you to delete them, you kind of have to go around it). The nice part is, since I blew up my computer trying to get rid of it, I've yet to have a pop up (any damn piece of spyware has long been wiped off my machine).

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 11:26 PM) It's similar to how people typically regard The Exorcist as freightening. Suppose elements within both movies appeal to general horror movie audiences. Honestly, the 'scariest' part for me in the Shining was the beginning theme music. The combination of strange synthesizers/sound effects and the setting work well together. The Exorcist is the one movie that flat scares the hell out of me. Simply because I've done a little reading and listened to people detail some supposed true exorcisms and well quite frankly the fact that some of the stuff seen in the movie has been documented by the church as to happen (not in the setting of the movie or anything, but they claim some of the symptons of the girl have happened). For example...IIRC there was a person supposedly posessed in a farm in Iowa (I think thats where it was) and the person ended up throwing up this film all over the church and it was documented into the records. I have no idea how true it was and it was part of an art bell series on exorcism I heard a few years back (back when he was doing the show full time). It was interesting stuff and after hearing all about that I saw the movie for the 1st time (when they brought it back to theatres) and I must say I had trouble sleeping. Not since I saw "it" when I was like 8 or 9 had I been that scared, and yes, I realize that was a totally lame movie, but it scared the hell out of me and my friends (first horror I ever saw).

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 11:09 PM) You must have some high expectations. Neither are genre redefining, but compared to the utter crap labeled as horror these days, I had no complaints. Both surpass High Tension--which was heralded as TEH AWESOME. One problem with Land: I didn't really appreciate the evolution-of-Zombie's angle (which Day also featured), or Romero's political agenda, but it proves a worthy addition to his series. I should say for Land of the Dead I had higher expectations. It was basically a c- movie but it did have entertaining parts of it and some cool action scenes. But Devils Rejects was just a disgusting movie. Gore doesn't bother me one bit but the movie was ridiculously dumb and the people in it were just entirely ridiculous. I think I got dumber watching that crap. Thankfully I netflixed it and didn't pay an actual fee. I will never watch a Rob Zombie movie again.

Watched the Great Raid tonight. I really enjoyed the movie. I like historical/war movies and I have no idea how realistic this movie was, but I thought it was a neat story and didn't seem quite as over-dramatized as some stories. Plus I haven't seen many recent movies about the Japanese/US part of the war and never saw one that detailed the underground movement from the Phillipino's.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 05:21 PM) Good call my ass. It's pure speculation based on nothing. Jenks had something in his personal life to deal with. Can't we allow him that without question what that issue was or speculating that he's binge drinking or something? Damn. I agree. Obviously Jenks has had prior issues, but in his year with the Sox I have heard nothing but good things about his work ethic and attitude. Supposedly when he missed that final year with the Angels and got married to his wife he started to calm down and make sense of things. Obviously something could have came off and he could have fallen off the wagon, but I'm not about to speculate it. He's in the spotlight the entire season as are all players and I have zero problem with them staying out of it in the off-season. Hell, I'd prefer it cause usually spotlight in the off-season is a bad thing.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 05:07 AM) Any guesses as to what Ozzie's response might be? I think the whole visit to the WH thing is tired. I wonder how many athletes really WANT to go as opposed to feeling like they have to. Most of the time the Pres has no idea who anyone on the team is and that's ok, the Pres should not have enough time to follow that Timo is not on the team any more. I can tell you only from my personal perspective, but I'd love to be able to meet the president in a more personal setting. Obviously there will be the photo op, but the players will still get to talk to the president. Thats regardless from my feelings cause if Clinton was president I still would have been honored to be invited to the White House and get to talk to the big cheese.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) Painter's going to get that program turned around eventually. And my roommate/manager said Davis was actually really sick. He went out to his house, and he said he looked white. I have no idea what to believe anymore. Trust me, Davis isn't the type of person to go out and fake being sick to not be at a game. If he resigned tomorrow that would be another story/ I don't think thats the case and I think he'll be there the rest of the year (unless you see the team totally play without any effort the next couple games). But he's definately a lame-duck coach cause he's gone (unless they somehow shock everyone and make a HUGE tourney run). First they got to get back on track and pick up a few more wins to ensure they make the tourney. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) I've heard that Calipari and Few have talked about scheduling a game with each other late in the season for that exact reason that you talked about, makes a lot of sense if you think about it. My problem with the zags is their lack of caring on defense. They are as talented as anyone in the country on offense but when you don't care about the defensive side of the ball you just aren't going to go very far. No doubt the defense is what gets them. I think some of that comes down to the SOS because they don't play those tight games were defense becomes a huge factor since most often they can score at will. However when you play against other talented teams that have good defenses you will learn that you can't put up a gazillion points every night and your team will quickly learn the importance of getting back and playing defense. If Gonzaga could get there guys to have some defensive intensity they would be hard to beat. Its not going to happen this year, but I think Few has to find a way to improve that defense. Than again if St. Mary's and Santa Clara are every good at the same time as Gonzaga it could make for a pretty fun conference. Consider you have Stockton/Dickau,etc out of Gonzaga and of course Nash from Santa Clara. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) I have absolutely no problem with their fans, I have a problem with their team. They won't make it to the second weekend come tourny time. They need to schedule more tough games late in the season to help prepare them for the tourney. Their conference isn't as bad as some of you say (last year St. Mary's was a pretty strong club), but without them its just a bit better than the Big West. Here's a question, could the Zags enter a bigger conference. Maybe find a way into the Pac 10 to play basketball (I know its highly unlikely) but having a tougher schedule could make them so much more ready for the big games because I do think they are one of the better teams in teh country, but I agree with your assesment on them not going deep. That said with Batista and Morrison they got as good of a 1-2 as anyone. Its just the lack of tight games and how to finish those type of games that will kill them come tourney time when aside from the 1st round (well most of the time for top 1-3 seeds) you are playing a pretty damn good team every game. -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) What else do they have to do? They are in Spokane. I'm sure there are limited options there. Supposedly they started lining up for gameday last Monday. If so, these are some sick f*cks. Of course there is nothing else to do, but that doesn't mean the place doesn't have an awesome atmosphere. Isn't that what college basketball is all about? If you ask me, I think Gonzaga and the passion their students have is just one of the reasons why college basketball is so great. Hell, this year college basketball has passed the pro's in my mind. I have grown sick of the whiny babies in the NBA. Sure the talent is better in the NBA, but in college you have diehard fans and more importantly players out there busting there complete asses all the time. Also you don't get much showboating nor is there near the super star treatment, although I realize most non Duke fans would disagree with that. -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) Why are their fans dumb? Looks like a pretty damned good atmosphere there to me. Seriously, I'm jealous. I think they have as good of fan support as any team in the country (in terms of at games). Obviously there are tons of teams with more overall fans, but Zag fans are passionate and the students are at all the games. -

Beltre for sure as far as hitters. He has explosive upside, the others don't. Burnett/Freddy is a wash. Burnett could have a monster year but Freddy (if healthy) will be consistent and solid so I'd go Freddy.
