  1. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) They do world vs US but Gio was born here and lives here. He wouldn't be eligible for the world team. Well scratch that. Only other thing I could think is them holding out Bmac because he has a few MLB starts. They probably won't do it, but its a possibility. Personally I'd rather see Gio and Anderson simply because I've seen Bmac pitch a lot and haven't had the luxury of watching much of Gio (I'm selfish, haha).
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) jesus players dont run out a pop out all the time you think the barons manager over-reacted a little.... Maybe pull him out of the game but dont make such a damn big deal about it. Nah, this is exactly how it should be played. You teach them right as they climb through the ranks of the organization and you won't have to deal with those type of problems at the major league level.
  3. Sounds cool enough to me.
  4. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) Anderson and BMac. Guaranteed. I'd go with that. However, they could grab Gio for the world team or however it works (Isn't that how they do it sometimes?).
  5. May In Review By Danman June 15, 2005 FutureSox.com With May over the minor league teams are making playoff pushes as the first half of play ends in late June. The Warthogs and Barons are both in the mix as they head down the stretch. It’s interesting to see who has followed up a strong start in April and who has fallen off. Also, some guys put up better numbers after adjusting to new levels in the beginning of the season. Without further ado, here are the guys that are streaking, freaking, and guys in line for promotions...MORE

    QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) This movie is awesome, Christian Bale is absolutely perfect for this role, although his batman voice is kinda odd at times. Bale is a budding superstar - just watch. The movie is f***ing amazing.... i was tired tonight after work, but my girlfriend pulled me outta bed to go see the midnight... please go see this movie, its bloody awesome. Oh and btw... Cillian Murphy - he plays scarecrow... is f***ing awesome in this too. Im gonna watch both these gents career's carefully from now on... they're gonna blow up. Go see the movie. I just got home from it and holy crap. All I can say is it blows all the other Batman movies away and is by far and away the best movie I've seen the past few years. Just awesome. I loved Star Wars, but this movie may of just topped it.
  8. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) Guys, one thing to think about when formulating these questions, note that Wilder is the Director of Player Development and as such, he will likely have less info on these new draft choices than the guy who's in charge of the draft, Duane Shafer. Dave, as I understand it, will have more knowledge and input on the guys who are already in the system. But it was noted he scouted Lance Broadway, so maybe some of his responsibilities overlap, which is why a good question is for Dave to outline exactly what he does on a week to week or month to month basis. Jim good questions. I had a few of them on the same page as you (like the duties of the minor league development) and I plan on asking him how involved he is and am gonna make mention on how he saw Broadway pitch and what his thoughts are on him. I also have a question for Jenks and how he's working in terms off of the field and what type of timetable do the Sox have on him. Really looking forward to this and everyones putting out some good questions to get added to my already lengthy list
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) Alright I'm definitely in now, is it alright if I bring a friend? Ya, not a problem.
  10. FutureSox.com will be interviewing Dave Wilder either later today or tomorrow afternoon. For those of you not familiar Dave Wilder is the director of player development for the Sox. So if anyone has any questions they would like to ask Dave, please post them on here and I'll do my best to ask him. Also special thanks goes out to JimH for setting up this whole thing.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) Hopefully they have Vazquez refusing to play for the Sox in the back of their heads, and take it out on him. Vazquez would be a White Sox if we sent him the card in your avatar. We Cho CHo CHOOSE You I mean who wouldn't that convince?
  12. The greatest part of all of it was, that Phil was waiting for a sign to see whether he should take the job or not Freaking nutjob
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 07:06 AM) I wish it never happened. My parents bring it up allll the time. "Steff... remember when you rode Dumbo with MJ.. ? Go get the pics..!!". :headshake ROFL ,this is gonna be great
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 06:49 AM) I'd never do that, Hell I think he is a sick f***er myself (maybe not to the extremes as others see him) I am just one of the biggest fans of his music from my early childhood so I am blinded by that... And to think Steff, I'm gonna have to sit next to him in a few days
  15. ROLF @ The Lakers I wonder how much he got, my guess is 10-11 mill a year.
  16. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) How ridiculous is the top 30 going to look after this year if we don't have a rash of trades? With prospects being given time due to no immediate MLB need, and the drafts and return from injury of the likes of Honel and Malone and to a lesser extent Lumsden, it's going to be a top-5 or 10 organization type of top-30... Ya, I'm loving what the Sox have been doing. There is so much pitching depth and they have tons of OF depth and a few toolsy middle infielders and Josh Fields. But I can't believe just how much pitching depth they have, its just awesome.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 07:22 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2084012 OMG, are they freaking nuts. He's a solid player, but he's now one of the most overrated players in baseball. He's a real poor mans version of Rafael Furcal and he's really nowhere near the offensive or defensive player Furcal is (one of my personal fav shortstops). What a joke the Phils are. I'd just as well pay Polanco 4 mill less than Rollins whose never lived up to his hype after winning ROY, imo. He's a solid shortstop, nothing more, and nothing less. Makes the contract the Sox gave Uribe that much better
  18. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) Jeff Clement is a stud. Jason, you are nuts to think he is overrated. I'd take a bat like his at 1B if his defense at catcher isn't good enough. Despite 2 HRs in 2 games, Clement's USC team fell to Oregon St. That was an awesome series. And I've long said Clement is a legit hitter, I just think teams are nuts to think he'll make it as a catcher. Too bad for my Titans, but ASU was the better team that series. Fullerton's staff was too banged up and realistically the Sun Devils dominated them in all 3 games. Still, it makes me sick to think Fullerton blew a 7-2 lead. Gonna be a fun series though because I really don't think there is any runaway favorite this year.
  19. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) I hadn't heard anything in a while, how old is that info? It's consistent with what we heard a month or 2 ago... Ya, he mentioned it about a week ago that he's still on pace for the ASB. In fact I can't remember for sure but I think he said he was gonna be leaving Arizona pretty quick and heading up to join the team in the next week or so, but I could be wrong.
  20. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) Yeah, draft-eligible sophomore that apparently wasn't rated as highly due to signability doubts and exposure... Appears to be a better pick than originally thought. Without a second rounder, and having drafted him before and obviously having had discussions with him 2 years ago, they must feel they can sign him or they wouldn't have taken him, IMO... If they can sign those first 10-14 picks this year, I'll be thrilled no matter what happens with Danks... Agreed and who knows. Danks could get a fluke injury or something could happen with Texas' coaching staff that makes him change his mind. It was a real good risk the Sox took when they drafted him. However, if most of the early picks sign I don't think the Sox will do much with Danks, but you never know what can happen. Until he attends classes there is always a chance.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 04:23 AM) I have commented a few times that during the season, I think AJ Pierzynski is the BIG difference in the way that Jose Contreras has been pitching this year. Now after watching that disaster last night, it inspired me to do some research. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues this year but here are the starts were AJ has caught Contreras, in order. 6 IP 1 ER 6.2 IP 4 ER 4.2 IP 4 ER 3.1 IP 1 ER 6 IP 1 ER 8 IP 1 ER 7 IP 1 ER 7 IP 3 ER 6 IP 2 ER 6 IP 2 ER Now Widger's three starts with Contreras 5 IP 4 ER 6.1 IP 4 ER 6 IP 8 ER For totals of... AJ 60.2 IP 16 ER 2.52 ERA Widger 17.1 IP 16 ER 8.30 ERA Its not even close right now. Now it will be interesting to see if this is an aberration, or if AJ literally makes Contreras a better pitcher. I wholeheartedly agree. I was expecting Widge to get the start on Sunday with AJ getting the day off (especially since it was a day game following a start). I think AJ should always catch Contreras, they seem to have a good feel for each other.

    QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 08:33 AM) So, Gage is off the hook?
  23. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 04:48 AM) I heard an interview last night on the Score. Mike Brown is a huge Sox fan. He grew up in Arizona, a couple of years younger than Konerko. He said Paulie was a stone cold killer in high school baseball. He said he likes the Sox because they are a blue collar group of hustlers, who don't get the props the way our north side assclowns do. He really went on and on, loves baseball, calls it the sport of failure, cause if you go 3 for 10, etc. So Brooks - Mike Brown for first ball duty!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tillman is another Bear thats supposed to be a pretty big Sox fan.
  24. QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) Will he ever start in the major leagues? He has the ability to, but right now I think he's found his role with the White Sox in the bullpen. Ozzie is gaining confidence in him with every outing and with Marte out he seems to be joining Politte as the set up guy in the 8th inning. As a big Cotts backer I'm glad to see him coming through now and just want to see him continually improve his control as well as his offspeed pitches. He's made great stride in both areas as of late and its a big reason why he's starting to take off. Once Marte is back and if Cotts continues doing what he's doing, the Sox pen looks a whole lot better.
  25. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Well I consider Aaron a .300 hitter, anyways I agree though if Borch could hit .280 in the majors with his power he's without a doubt a starter, however even though I wish Borch the best I just don't think he's going to be able to, I definitely hope I'm wrong though. Don't worry, Borch is never going to hit .280 in the major leagues, imo.
