Ah man he just missed two moon shots. Hitting that one to dead center on a sub 40 MPH pitch showed his strength.

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
That last play was incredible range but man he almost had a career ending injury there - presume OF was calling him off. And if OF didn’t he almost got his SS killed.

And same for Vargas? Is he just applying his own rules? Mune should have challenged the 2nd pitch too - it missed by even more.

How can the ump ignore official reviews. Pathetic what he did to Vargas and then does it again. Wtf.

All things LA Dodgers Thread...
Sasaki is someone I would be intrigued to acquire if he finally gets to point he wants to get real run way so he can prove he can make it in this league as a starter. He wasn’t ready for prime time with the Dodgers but if he is healthy I think he is type of guy that needs a six month adjustment and than can be a pretty good long term piece.

There were some rumors if the Bulls went with BD in a president role around Thibs maybe being a HC. But I don't think that happens unless you get a Kerr or someone else like that to massage. I don't recall where Lloyd and Thibs came across but I'd imagine they go another direction. If you see Deng come in - it could get interesting and while him and Mesai were not listed in the report from Shams - technically Bulls could keep that pretty quiet since you don't need permission to connect with said players.

I believe the reports were that they wanted him to move up but he was not yet ready to decide that and he had a preference to continue to coach. I presume Bulls wanted to provide him with the respect they thought he deserved and so this was a big long orchestration maybe to give him a bit of time to process that given everything else going on but I think also trying to be respective of how highly they truly think of him (and I don't think they are wrong there). I think it was literally a day later and BD and Reinsdorf both basically implied he wasn't really going to stick around as head coach under all scenarios but it was more how they wanted to frame it in terms of their respect. But Reinsdorf point blank had already backed away from that statement 2 days later but in a smaller context and BD was saying same thing like I wouldn't read too much into what Reinsdorf is saying - but I appreciate how he is doing it and how he's respecting my time to process. And in fairness - BD is one of the more respected basketball individuals and leaders in the entire basketball circuit (college and pro) and is just an outstanding individual to work with at all levels. I'm not saying he is the world's greatest basketball coach - there are better - but when you bring the people aspects etc - he is near the top - hence why I think they really wanted to see if he was ready to step into a president role and oversee the whole thing - be the guy who hired the GM, who hired the next coach - and who served as the glue guy. I personally think he would have been a home run in that role - especially when you think of how important relationships are to the full NBA ecosystem.

In fairness to Lloyd - he is a pretty good candidate and the overall list they are looking at is deep and thorough. We also don't know who else is on the list. Don't want to give them the benefit of the doubt though - as they haven't earned that.

I think they always knew this was going to happen - but there is a level of respect for Billy D that they wanted to do it that way. Even Reinsdorf's quotes that came out a day or two later kind of implied that. And I think Billy even said he appreciated it because of how it showed that the respect was mutual. But ultimately - I think even Cowley mentioned it, the Bulls expected this to happen all along but I do think they were hoping he would step into the president role (and believe they offered it to him).

Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
I agree - but I think I’m going to bet he is here more than 2 years. If he is legit - she fits into a rebuild and can be a big global draw and might even mean we add another international player or two on free agent market in Ishibia influenced world.

Just my opinion- that team looks pretty limited - when Dybansta starts to take off, Giannis is not there and they don’t have assets. I’m ok if they want to use cap space for more assets or to take a flyer but I’m not trading Matas at this point. I’d stick to draft approach and find ways to creatively get more picks and assume we suck again next year and get a high pick.

No - you don't win with rookies so its not the time for that sort of move. Keep building assets and than when the time is right pivot. Now if someone were to tell me Ja could be had for Patrick Williams and some other stuff in a pure change of scenery - yeah I'd do that presuming Billy D sticks around cause I trust him to handle that. But even if you win the lottery - you are going to be bad next year, that is okay. I do think having Jones and Giddey as floor generals on offense does help ensure you can appropriately develop people.

Sosa traded to Blue Jays for minor league OF Jordan Rich and PTBNL
No minor league stats yet. Was he injured coming out of high school? On paper seems like very little relative to a guy who can hit (even if he is positionless). Hoping to find out he got an outsized bonus to sign or something. I do get that Sosa wasn't getting the playing time here anyway but this seems like yet another Getz deal where goforward outbound WAR will be better than incoming WAR.

Goal 1 - Get 9th worse vs 10th worse. Bulls are 2 minutes away from achieving that. Goal 2 - Portland wins and gets in so we get their pick. Goal 3 - Jump up into top 4 in lottery Note: Goal 0 was cleaning out front office - goal 0.5 is making a good hire and investing in the front office!

Don’t count anything until it happens. And Patrick Williams is trash. He does nothing on the court and I don’t think he is a plus defender at all - he was solid early in his career but his lateral movement is slower so he is a positionless player in the worse kind of way.

If he keeps this up - I think we see him up at some point in May, hopefully for what is the beginning of a tremendous MLB career.

Official NBA 25-26 Thread
Yeah - I'm not quite sure how the above relates to this...since they were very clear they were going to use a search firm and cast a wide net. I took some of the quotes more positively than others - doesn't mean I'm confident, but feels like a good sign. And while I get the - let the new guy decide on Billy D - I can respect the fact that Billy D knows basketball, is an extremely likeable person who works well with others, and is a very solid head coach (maybe not top 5 head coach - but the combo of his relationship and soft skills and his knowledge makes him more than competent). So I don't see it as big of an issue as some - but doesn't make it perfect. I think the org is better having Billy D involved in the process than if Billy D wasn't here and it was left to the remaining crew to make a decision. I still think their preference would be Billy D becoming president - so I still think there is a scenario where we see a GM come in, Billy D coaches another year or two and than he moves into a president role and they bring in a new coach - while enabling continuity. I liked the quotes from Billy D - around having a smart room vs. a smart individual. I really have never heard a bad thing about the guy. I do worry that he is too focused on winning that they may try to force things vs. doing this proper.
