QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 12:00 AM) Yeah, I've got a double as a single all to myself on a corner room, so it should be nice. And I found out that my floormate who lives right next to me is a fellow German major and he's really nice. The food at Collins is excellent but I'll have to try and ignore the artistes and emo kids. Shorter walk to Kirkwood from Wright is always nice. You're majoring in German? That's cool. My brother-in-law is going to Texas Tech, and he's getting a graduate assistant's position in the German department after he graduates in December. He just got back from Germany last month and had a blast.

CubsSuck, I think the hardest part of college is to think beyond your 4 years at school. At the time it seems to go forever, but looking back it FLIES. And where you go to college will have a pretty big impact of where you end up afterwards. In other words, if you want to stay close to home, and enjoy Illinois, go somewhere there and pick a school that has a good reputation in what you think you want to do. If you want to jump out and go somewhere else to start a new life, then go somewhere far away, but remember it's harder to go home for the weekend to do laundry. The big thing is try to look at it from what you want to do with yourself, not what others want you to do, as someone else said in this thread.

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Use green next time. I agree. When I saw them outside the locker room in Fla. I was surprised how frail this guy was. At least his brother had some size. Other then his little wifey, there's nothing there. If those two had kids, it would be a midget. -

Wayne Gretzky to coach Phoenix Coyotes
kapkomet replied to CSF's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The game is different then it was 15 years ago, and while I know he knows that, I guarantee you he wouldn't be but about 3/4's of the player today. He couldn't take a hit, and the boys today don't give a crap who you are. Crosby's about to learn that. The game is a LOT more physical, rule changes or not. -
For many of the suburbians in Dallas/Fort Worth, school starts TODAY. Unbelieveable.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 05:37 AM) From what I've read since they're probably going to miss out on re-signing Burke, they're becoming more interested in Thibault. But what problems do Phoenix have in the organization Kap? Do they just have bad owners e.g the Orioles with Peter Angelos? They have very little vision. -
Wayne Gretzky to coach Phoenix Coyotes

Comrie will be a great fit there, but that's just about all they have. Hull, meh. He'll do "ok"... but his success depends if they really do open up the game. He's always been a damn good cherry picker. Morris is an enigma. But he's not the quality that most other teams have in their division, forget the conference. I know Phoenix's organization well. Gretzky has nothing to prove and his legacy goes no-where but down unless they win it all, right away, and unless something really weird happens, they're not going to. Phoenix is one of the worst run teams in the league, and that will translate downstairs on the ice. -
I saw this about 10 minutes ago. Peter, I remember you well when you took over for Brinkley. RIP.

QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 03:43 AM) Please explain why you believe it's not a good move by Gretzky #1, the organization is totally incompetant. #2, that team is not as good as you think. Because of #1 above, the team has not done well in the past few years. I think they'll be better, but not that good. #3, great vision and playmaking abilities on the ice doesn't translate into his players when he's behind the bench. #4, this is for show, he doesn't need the "challenge". #5, really, he cares more about Team Canada then he does the Coyotes, although Mr. Barnett is making him think otherwise. I could go on, but that's enough to get started. Plus, if I say too much, I'll get killed. -
Only if you're bagging a STUPID chick in the bathroom. LMAO /I wonder who will get this?

Wayne Gretzky to coach Phoenix Coyotes

QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) I don't understand how Gretzky can be doubted as a coach. For one, the Coyotes aren't that bad. Take a look at their roster and tell me they don't have as much chance to win as anybody. They've got arguably one of the best two-way defenseman in the league in Morris, Tanabe, O'Donnell, Ference, Mara, are all solid NHL vets, and with Gauthier coming up this year, they're going to have a solid D-Core. Their offense is filled with good players: Comrie, Hull, Nedved, Doan, Saprykin, Ricci, Nagy. Plenty of goal scorers, and they still have room left under the cap. Boucher is a solid goalie, I'm not sold on him, and I don't think Coyotes management is either, so I think they'll be upgrading in that department. As for the Great One as a coach, no one could see the ice better than him. No one could take what seemed to be a non-opportunity into a scoring chance like he could. I'm not saying he can teach this to every one of his players, because he can't. But there's no way that the all-time leading scorer, who's records will probably never be broken, doesn't know the game of hockey as good or better than any of the best coaches out there. Gretz will be successful, Phoenix will go far in the West, maybe even to the finals if they get a solid goalie. GREAT move by the GREAT one. Trust me, I know Phoenix's organization very well... this is NOT a good move by Gretzky, unless he's getting more control then he has now, and I'm not talking about coaching control. -
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) That's Steve Buscemi, you need to get out more. The movie was horrible. Horrible writing, preachy, incoherent, and showed NO understanding of how the government funds scientific research. Absolutely unrealistic. Horrible. And, I doubt humans will be cloned. The saddest post I've ever made on here, probably, but I don't. I think it will be done. And, when it happens, Hell hath no fury...

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) You can go to the findlaw.com site to read his previous decisions as a judge. That is more likely to define what he will be like on the USSC than anything else. The guy's decisions are so economically hard-core conservative that even I am scared by this guy. But as you have pointed out the fact that he let $$$ rule over his principles early in his career he is more likely to be confirmed. Mark my words, this guy will jump all over the first case that involves affirmative action. Mark my words. Interesting. This guy scares Juggs AND the Democrats. He's the perfect candidate.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) Being called a hatemonger by one of the people who spews the most venom on this board. And being called dumb and stupid, at least I know how to spell "saddest" there, champ. We've got the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, Jonestown, bombings of clinics, the Olympic bombing. I don't have a problem if you pray to invisible squirrels in your pants -- whatever gets you through your day. But I also recognize the threat of fundamentalism in the world since it has caused many of the world's most violent activities. When religion gets mixed into government and there are attempts to put a certain moral code into law (i.e. we need government to tell us what video games people can buy, what women can do with their bodies etc.) to suit a certain religious ideology, especially in a secular society -- that is when I have a problem with it. Organized religion with as much blood on its hands as it has cannot be called "naturally good". But having said that, some of these people that speak for my God sure don't know my God.

QUOTE(56789 @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 03:13 AM) I think this is different.. im sure you guys either asked to take get your admin status taken away or at least were asked to, not just log on one day to see your not an admin anymore... Yep, that's EXACTLY what happened, purely for s***s and giggles, because we love that here. You got us. :rolly A year later, it still goes on, unbelieveable. :headshake Just remember that there's always more then one side of any story. And a sleeping dog that you kick in the nuts over and over and over and over again will eventually bite the s*** out of you, so why don't we just let this dog sleep, huh? /OUT of thread for good, pm me if you got a question.
