HuskyCaucasian replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I was really disapinted last night. I turned on the NFL HD channel and it was blacked out with no audio and the regualr HFL Network channel was airing some other programming. VERY disappointing. We just watched Spiderman 2 on FOX instead. lol -
Boston Globe Piece on Scott Boras

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 08:06 AM) My favorite part was the insinutation that Alex Rodriguez will hit over 1000 homers according to their projections... Damn, and I thought we were the only ones who lived baseball on the Playstations... Over the last 9 seasons, ARod is averaging 44.44 HR per season. Assuming he keeps up that pace until he is 40,/41 (the 2016 season), he would have 908 homers. So, maybe its possible, but he would absolutely have to have NO drop off in ability until he hits 44. And if he is still playing at his current level when he is 44, he could play until he is 50 with depreciation of talent factored it. HIGHLY unlikely. I should also note: He is on pace to have 3906 career hits by age 41, which would place him 3rd all time behind Rose and Cobb. -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 07:00 AM) Both of these are horrible trades. HORRIBLE. But I think BA has wore out his welcome on the southside, and it doesn't matter that we are going to get a bag of crap back for him. I've clearly missed something. Why and how has he worn out his welcome?

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 06:40 AM) so beyonce and eva are gonna get fully necked? otherwise, it's all hype. I agree. Nakeness is the key here.

QUOTE(beautox @ Nov 11, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) Also here are some pictures of the purposed stadium, and you can find more information here THat ballpark was designed to be built in Oakland north of the A's current home. I wonder if the new home might be differant.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) San Jose is in the Giants "territory." The Giants can block the A's from moving there. Technically, Oakland is in "GIants territory", so... shouldnt the Giants be able to veto their existance? Ok, kidding aside, San Jose is FARTHER away from San Fransico than Oakland is. So, to me, it would be better for the GIants. I never understood the whole "territory" thing when it came the Giants. ANy move in that area is a move within their territory. It's just a lateral move.

Campaign and Election Reforms (Finance and other)
HuskyCaucasian replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) We (Kap and I) hereby request your ideas, theories and plans of action to reform the election and/or campaign process here in the U.S. The general purpose is to make the system more fair and equal, to put higher quality individuals in office, and to create a government more properly representative of the interests of the people. What say you? Step one.... get rid of the dumb electoral college system and go stricktly on popular vote. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) So, how many GMs that he called "stupid" in Moneyball have WS rings since the book came out? I can think of one

Selig pondering postseason changes
HuskyCaucasian replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 05:52 PM) I actually think that overall Selig is one of the best comissioners the game has had. He's had some minor slips (definately the 94 strike) but as a whole he's been a very good GM. Heck, the addition of the Wild Card alone makes him one of the greatest comissioners ever in my book. I can't even imagine baseball without the new divisional alignments and the wild card (it makes things even more exciting than it used to be). Well, baseball was kind of forced to add the Wild card. With the league expanding they absolutely could not keep it at 2 divisions per league. There needed to be 3 and a "bye week" in baseball is way too long for a team to have off. It wouldnt be fare to the bye team. -
interesting.... very interesting....

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) good game. awesome catch. GO CARDS! I'm not sure where it ranks. I believe the Garry Mathews Jr catch was far better. But when it comes to homerun denying catches, this is probably top 5. How did he hang onto that ball????

I am very very skeptical of this. My bet, he is trying to dump the sanctions but still work in secret. -

QUOTE(Pale Hose Jon @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Dirty Bombs have gained much respect from the media, but a dirty bomb poses no threat to the public unless you stand at ground zero for years w/out moving. And even then your chance at radioactivite poisioning is still very small. exactly... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_bomb
