I played "Smear the *****" in gradeschool. (PS: Yes I know the title isn't "P.C." but that IS what it was called) When I was in 3rd grade (roughly 1991), we played TACKLE football. My friend broke his collar bone, but still. We WERE allowed to play it. Note: Edited by Tex.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) If they acquire Pierre and still start Anderson, there is zero reason to flip Anderson to left. Brian is an outstanding centerfielder. Oh I totally agree. I would keep Anderson in center. Just saying that it is a possibily. Anderson ahs the better arm. If Anderson falters, Pierre moves to center and Sweeny could play left. Or, try to get Sweeney used to center. Many possibilites.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) I'm not even that big of a Pierre fan, but he's certainly a better player than Brian Anderson is at this point. he'll be brought in to replace iPods and probably play left (unless the move Anderson to left)/

QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) You are trapped on a island by yourself for 3 months. However, you are allowed only ONE book, an iPod with ONE album on it, ONE DVD movie, ONE DVD television series and ONE other person onto the island with you. For argument sake the iPod and television/DVD player will work the entire three months you are on the island. So, what ONE book, ONE album, ONE movie, ONE television series and ONE person would you bring? Why? Book - THe Bible (that's 3 months worth of reading right there!) Album - Totally Committed by Jeff Foxworthy Movie - hmmm..... Pirates of the Caribbean TV Show - LOST Person - I should say my wife, but would I want to spend 3 straight months with her? probably not! lol

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 09:12 AM) I learned that stuff from my parents because I needed to know. Great - I was fortunate. But secondary education is supposed to prepare kids for adult life. To me, finance is just as important as math or English or history. It should be included. Ding ding ding! I learned my budgeting and financial skills from my dad. A quick story, my wife and I are going on vacation with my parents in a few weeks and my parents want to pay for our hotels on the way down (they are flying, we are driving). I gave my dad a very detailed list of our hotels, cost of gas, meals, ect. Privatly, he told my wife that he is very proud of me and is glad something rubbed off on me. With that being said, I had a great father and family. i was lucky. Some are not so lucky or are never taught! A single consumer Ed class in HS is NOT enough.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) Actually not as hard as you might expect. Most lenders will have a pre-approval process. But the foreclosure market is not as easy as it looks. You are against professionals who do this for a living. They have trained eyes for spotting issues, and know the market conditions. true. And believe me, I'm in no hurry here. I'm at least 3-4 years before I am looking to own. By that time my wife and I will be moving to Iowa. So, not until then.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) It doesn't matter how you get your money, you have to have it that day at the auction. Damn, well, I guess I'll have to wait until my inheritance gets to me from my grandparents. No way I can just go buy a foreclosed house with cash on hand. and it's too hard to get a loan and HOPE you can get the house you wanted.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 09:15 AM) Your local newspaper will list all auctions, and they usually occur at the county courthouse. Do your research ahead of time, because they are sold for cash, and they are all as-is. wait, so to get a foreclosed home, I have to have a check ready to pay? I cant take out my own loan?

Here's thwe problem, it'snot how much money you throw at something, it's how you put the team together. Recent history has PROVEN that you dont need to spend 100+ million dollars to win the Series. Just put together a team that plays well together. The Yankees are all about trying to get every all-star player. It just doesnt work. Look at a team like the SOx or even the 90s Bulls. Get a few star players and fill in the rest with good players. This isnt Torre's falt. It's the fault of those above him.
