QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 12:13 AM) I see they won 90 games. I wonder how they would stack up against AL opponents. I was wondering if anyone was following or watching them? I might have to watch some of their games. Yes, they are most definitely that good. Best team in baseball, IMO. Their rotation is every bit as good, if not better (Vance Worley?), then advertised. Hunter Pence has reshaped that entire lineup. I don't have any numbers in front of me. But I'm comfortable in saying their offensive production has improved across the board since his trade there. Their only 'weakness' (and this is nitpicking) might be the bullpen. It's not as deep as the Braves or Rangers. Madson and Bastardo have been lights-out. It's questionable somewhat after that. Then again, with baseball's goofy ass playoff scheduling, combined with normal travel off days, they can stick Oswalt and Worley in there and it looks a lot deeper. Then just let Halladay, Lee and Hamels take it from there. I can't believe I just typed that. Halladay, Lee, Hamels. Good god. I need a drink.

Sox winner . Doesn't anybody care about..

"Ya know Stone Poney, after everything that's happened this year; Dunn, Rios, Beckham, Peavy, injuries to Carlos and such...to still finish in 2nd place? I believe this season has been saved. I think Kenny, Ozzie, and this whole bunch deserves a chance to go for it again next year." -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) How's the velocity? Just fine. FB 95+ (topping out at 99). Change around 90. Haven't seen many curveballs yet.

Stras appears to be really focused in on pitching to contact. Only 35 pitches through 3 scoreless innings so far.

GT: JFP's Last Stand? Sox @ Twins, 09/06, 7:10 PM

QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) I'll still watch because I've been waiting for this all afternoon, but no Dayan really pisses me off. I can't wait for Ozzie to head to the unemployment line, that moron. At least I get to watch Flowers and De Aza. Oh, and Peavy. I hope there's very little that we have left to see of this jerk. Don't worry. We've got a full season (i.e. 15 starts) of Mr. bulldog left. -
QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 06:31 PM) For my first post... I would not mind AJ being the backup next year.. and teaching Flowers everything he can.. minus how not to throw out runners! IMO Catching is the one thing the Sox have in 2012. $6 million dollar backup C? You trade AJ last month if the opportunity arises. Hell, throw in a million or so if you have to.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 06:06 PM) Floyd doesn't compare with Marcum? Nope.
-
I agree with Balta here. You're not getting a Brett Lawrie, a Mike Trout, or a Matt Moore back for anything we have to dangle.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 05:39 PM) You don't think you can get a good return for the players I'd trade? That's moot. I can't assume what we could/would get back. But that every day lineup (Lilli at SS?) and pitching staff is deplorable. That's 100 losses - easily. I don't mind a rebuild. But I don't even know what you call what you're proposing.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) LF De Aza SS Lillibridge 1B Konerko DH Dunn RF Viciedo CF Rios C AJ/Flowers 2B Beckham 3B Morel Rotation: Buehrle, Peavy, Sale, Humber, Stewart Pen: Reed, Crain, Ohman Deal: Danks, Ramirez, Santos, Floyd, Quentin, and Thornton And with the first pick in the 2013 MLB draft, the White Sox select?????????

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 07:44 AM) So I was watching Law & Order: SVU the other day, and while investigating a case, one of the questions was (paraphrasing),"What happened on October 26th, 2005?", and Stabler responded....."The White Sox won the World Series." Thought that was pretty cool. I love that show. But I lose a little faith in god whenever I think of Ice T's walrus lookin' ass bangin' Coco every night.

AL teams with similar 33 game starts
Jordan4life_2007 replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In other words, when Ozzie Guillen-led teams start slow and put themselves in a hole, they don't come back. They'll tease you a little during the summer months. But that's about it. Thank the devil we had that 15-game lead and had #163 at home. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:45 PM) That's what people said about Halladay/Oswalt/Hamels last year too, lol. Gallardo/Greinke/Marcum is not as good, but they can all shut a team down. Braun/Fielder is probably the best 3-4 in the game. The rest of the lineup is lacking a bit, they need Weeks back, although Hart has been on fire. Of course I can't argue that the Phillies are the favorites. True. But Oswalt is no Lee. And Hamels has had a career season. And last year's Giants staff went on one of the all-time dominant pitching runs ever. It's comical that Roy Oswalt very well could spend much of his time on the mound out of the bullpen.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) I'll root like hell for the Brewers in the postseason. I also pray they keep Prince. Will Weeks be back for the postseason? And I like the Brewers a lot. But I just can't see anybody beating Halladay, Lee and Hamels. I know it can happen. Just very unlikely, IMO.

Hosmer and Butler have gone bonkers of late. Nice to see Butler is finally hitting for power.

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:07 PM) Cop-outs galore from the usual suspects around here. Fine, guys. The players are all to blame; Ozzie is NEVER to blame for ANYTHING. If he makes an idiotic managerial decision, he is not responsible for it... ever. This is what you guys are alluding to. Ozzie has a lack of talent? Sure, but that amall amount of talent sitting on the bench while Dunn bats 4th or 5th is unforgivable. And this is just one example out of ENDLESS examples I could use. A "lack of talent" doesn't mean there's nothing the manager could screw up; clearly some of you have not been paying attention to a large amount of posts in the topic and are just too stubborn to bother because you love and defend Ozzie to a tee for some bizarre reason. There's really nothing to even like about the guy at this point. Let's face it. If not for 2005, there wouldn't be a single Sox fan on earth clamoring for Ozzie to return or playing the "it's not his fault" card. That's all it comes down to. When a Ozzie backer is looking through their DVD collection and they happen to come across the '05 World Series DVD, they're instantly paralyzed with overwhelming nostalgia.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:11 PM) That deal isn't AA being good, rather Reagins being bad. Think J.P Ricciardi pulls that off? He was the dumbass who signed him to the deal (as well as Rios) in the first place.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) And any team interested can check his WAR and find him to be pretty ineffective. And any team could see Vernon Wells was owed a billion dollars for the next 4 years. But where there's Alex Anthopoulos' will, there's usually a way.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 04:57 PM) Why exactly would anyone want Adam Lind? Can play multiple positions, above average power, and a team-friendly contract through 2013. I could see a team like the Rangers being interested. The possibilities are endless when you have so many team-friendly contracts, strong system, and a s***load of money to spend. Even with arb raises due to Escobar and Morrow, their payroll still won't sniff $50 million.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 04:49 PM) And clearly they'd come out and destroy the Yankees, Red Sox, and Rangers? And with the extra pitching the Rays have coming up? If everyone developed they could be competitive. Handing the AL to them because of talent? You're talkin' 90-100 HRs from Bautista/Fielder. Spin Lind and a couple prospects from their loaded system for a SP/RP upgrade. Yes, they would be the favorite, IMO.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) Escobar Rasmus Bautista Fielder Encarnacion Lawrie Johnson? Arencibia ? Offense would be devastating.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) Just can't get enough of D-Wise now, can you?? You know it! But real talk. Brett Lawrie (and I see he just hit a walkoff HR) is worth the price of admission. Score one for the man in my avatar. Ricky Romero is just a notch below godlike lefties Kershaw/Price. Score another one for the man in my avatar for locking him up at a bargain rate through 2015. I expect Bautista to make another run at 50 HRs. And there's rumblings going around of the Blue Jays preparing to make a serious run at either Pujols or Fielder. I still don't think Pujols is going anywhere. But if they net Fielder? Sheeeetttt. It's game over for the AL. Nationals? Strasburg, Stephen. Enough said there. And Harper won't be in the minors long. And, of course, I love me some Ryan Zimmerman.
-
Super prospect Jesus Montero with two HRs today.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) I really think both of them will be back. I hope like hell I'm wrong but I don't think I will be. Then next year I will devote my baseball energies to the Blue Jays and Nationals.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) That was then and this is now type thing. That's baseball don't you agree? Wait a minute. You just said the Sox were struggling going into the Detroit series. fathom just destroyed you and now you're saying that was then? lmao. You're killing me.
