Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (TomPickle @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) I guess good is a subjective term, as he has the fifth worst xFIP in the AL this season. I'm not saying Wade Davis isn't going to be good, but when he can be immediately replaced by the best (or at least most ready) pitching prospect in baseball trading him for a guy like Dunn who fills a need for you doesn't seem like the dumbest thing a team could do. You've got the best avatar ever. And yeah, I guess "good" wasn't the right word to use. He's been inconsistent. But the stuff is undeniable. I'd be shocked if the Rays dealt him. Even with Hellickson as a replacement.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) Saw this earlier. They could also move Wade Davis for Dunn and put Hellickson into the rotation. Wade Davis ain't going anywhere. I'd decapitate for him. He's going to be sick (he's already good).

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) Hellickson got pulled from his start today. I would laugh my ass off if Dunn gets traded for Hellickson. That would be a drastic overpay for a rental.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 02:02 AM) Man... why are Soxtalk Keeper #1 and non-keeper #1 so dead... Don't blame me. I'm the only active owner in each (at least when it comes to making trades). And I'm really disappointed that zoom has been as active as a hippo in a sea of Gazelles. And lol@Kinsler going on the DL two days after I trade Cliff Lee for him. And to make matters worse Strasburg goes on the DL (this is in the soxtalk keeper 2 league).

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:05 PM) Just heard on the Score the Rays are the front-runners for Dunn with the Giants the only other team involved, NYY and White Sox are said to be out of it. If the Rays are in the derby then it's curtains for us. But having a strong farm doesn't matter. We won a title in 2005.

I'm in love with Carlos Gonzalez. I'm serious. I just stop whatever I'm doing when he comes to bat. Nice move, Beane!

I want Ozzie and KW gone.
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:29 AM) I'd love to as well as they have a major metropolitian market all to themselves, plus have a payroll about $40 million a year higher than ours. That extra money makes it much easier to have it all. You don't think making the playoffs three straight years, including the last two World Series and one title have anything to do with the spike in their payroll? You do know we had a higher payroll in 2008 than they did, right? The Phillies are legit and built to last. Edit: I see bigruss beat me to it. Point remains the same.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) What was the point of getting Tejada for the Padres? He can't play SS anymore, his declining power is going to decline even more in San Diego. I don't get it. Classic case of making a move just to make a move.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) I really like Kinsler, but he's hurt way too much. Other than Nick Johnson, is there a more injury prone position player in baseball? This guy screws me in fantasy every year.

White Sox Trade Catch-All
QUOTE (pktmotion @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:49 AM) In 2009, Carlos Carrasco, Michael Taylor,Jason Donald, Kyle Drabek, Lou Marson, and JA Happ(who'll presumably be going to HOU for Oswalt) were all ranked higher than Domonic Brown and then sent away for Lee/Halladay. I understand your point of how deep Philadelphia's farm is, but to suggest they orchestrated these great deals while retaining their best prospect(Brown) isn't exactly true. The Phillies have paid a great deal, for what'll be one of the best one-two in the NL of Halladay/Oswalt. What if they could've retained Lee too? Unbelieveable. Halladay-Lee-Oswalt. And to the poster suggesting we could trade for Werth and Happ. Happ is most definitely going to HOU and I can't see them trading Werth while Victorino is out. You got your years mixed up. Going into 2009, Brown was ranked by BA as their #1 prospect. You're thinking 2008.

Ted Lilly traded to Dodgers
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:54 AM) I think it's more about would you rather have Adam Dunn and Ted Lilly, or Daniel Hudson and Mark Kotsay? I would take Hudson over Lilly too, but the point of getting Lilly is to get Dunn, and that's a sacrifice I think most here would be willing to make. I reluctantly agree with you. But if KW trades for Dunn without being 99.999999999% sure he can sign him to an extension then it really is time for him to go. Now I'm sure somebody's going to tell me I an idiot and throw 2005 in my face and tell me about how bad management was 30 years ago.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:30 AM) 51.4% FB% (highest in baseball) -----> 10.6% HR/FB (12% would be standard) -----> 1.46 HR/9 (11th highest in baseball, would only go up at the Cell) Fun You nailed it right here. I just hope there's no smoke here. I'd rather just roll with Hudson.

I want Ozzie and KW gone.
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:06 AM) Yeah, I don't get why this seems to be so hard to explain. The farm system doesn't guarantee you success but damn does it make things easier. Downplaying it is like saying "I don't think it's important to have maximum resources." "I don't care what you managed to do in Vegas with $5000, I can have just as much fun there with $100 so it really makes no difference whether I have $100 or $5000 when I go" Excellent analogy. It's like some people really think those of us who want to see more effort put into the farm think we do so only because we want to see Baseball America fawn all over us. Like a few have said, I don't give a s*** about having a sexy AA or AAA team or having Baseball America rate us #1. Look no further then what the Phillies have been able to do. That's the franchise I want to emulate.

I want Ozzie and KW gone.
Posted this in the trade catch-all thread. So in the last year the Phillies have been able to trade for Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay and it looks like Roy Oswalt all while not sacrificing anything from the major league team and holding on to their #1 prospect in Dominic Brown. Yeah, farm system depth is really overrated.

White Sox Trade Catch-All
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 12:31 AM) REALLY looks like Oswalt is a Philly: Ken_Rosenthal FOX 26 in Houston reporting #Astros and #Phillies have deal in place for Oswalt. Trying to confirm. His approval would be required. #MLB 12 minutes ago via web So in the last year the Phillies have been able to trade for Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay and it looks like Roy Oswalt all while not sacrificing anything from the major league team and holding on to their #1 prospect in Dominic Brown. AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 10:21 PM) Jenks pitching like 2005 version. Heavy fastball and an overpowering hook. Nice to see he still has it when he wants to. Well he needs to want to more often. Because obviously what he was doing before wasn't working. He doesn't need to dabble with 3 or 4 different pitches. Look at guys like Verlarde, Soriano, Broxton and Wilson. All have + fastballs and a + breaking pitch.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) Figured I would update the latest from MLB trade rumors. MLBTR says more teams are in on Dunn but the sox and giants are the favorites. They also say we would be the best fit and claim to still want Hudson+ another prospect. I really hope this ends soon I'm addicted to checking MLBTRevery 15 minutes. I love the trade deadline ESP. When the sox are in it. Link: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/07/adam...-wednesday.html Wow, that would be amazing if the Giants got him. That'd make them the NL favorite, IMO.
